The açaí bowls are so refreshing and leave you full and 'clean' feeling after you eat them (just don't tell my body it's entirely sugar). The employees behind the counter are always super sweet and friendly with me, and I've never waited more than a few minutes for my bowl to be prepared. Very horrible! Every time I come to this playa bowl, I'm always greeted with attitude, rush, and poor service. The fruits taste old and the presentation of the bowl is always horrible. Why all the hate from this location? This is my favorite Playa location. Although parking can be an issue at times. It's spacious and never crowded when I visit. They have Poke bowls if that's your thing (it's not mine). The staff is always really approachable. I sampled the Pitaya here, because I never had it before. While the Pitaya is good, the Acai is really the all-star. Pitaya is not as flavorful as the acai to me. The acai is smooth and super cold, which is my favorite. This place located near by my office. I never had granola bowls with fresh frozen fruits but Like it. I had stupid Cupid was really awesome. Couple times I went there for my sweet addiction. They have a lot of healthy choices for everybody. It is little overpriced. Also it take too long to get your order. Last time I wait for 20 minutes for my granola bowls. Our experience started with a rude girl at the register. We ordered our food and she was very snotty and make it seem like it was our fault when we tried to pay with cash. "We do not take cash anymore" which was fine but your website does not mention this and its the 4th bullet point of your little sign at the register. First time at a Playa bowl location, usually get açaí bowls in Hoboken so that's what I'm comparing this one too. There's a bunch of teens and early 20's people working here which is fine if they learn customer service because if they do not, the business will not last very long. I ordered 2 of the same bowls which was coconutella (one for a family member who comes here often for the açaí or pitaya based bowls) and a strawberry banana smoothie. Bowl was OK. Nothing amazing and I've had some really great bowls in Hoboken. Maybe it's the coconut base? Not sure. Going to try this place again but order the traditional açaí base bowl. Smoothie was pretty good nothing extraordinary for $6.99 could've made it myself and it may have tasted much better but it was nice to get something for my son that wasn't filled with artificial sugars or added sugars just pure fruit and coconut milk. I've had there açaí strawberry Nutella bowls before which are amazing and they received the two stars due to the natural taste of the smoothie. They need more selection of "milk" since I prefers oat milk and they only had 2 choices which were coconut milk and almond, so someone with allergies to these two things should be weary. The customer service experience was horrible. We walked in NOONE greeted us, even though 3 people were working behind the counter. We stood there waiting for about 5-8minutes as a long line to the door formed, which was when one of the girls behind the counter looked up and asked" if anyone was waiting for pickup?" We replied "no"so she didn't bother to attend to us or anyone else on the line as it continued to grow. Finally one of them came over took our order. They then talked about the situation behind my back and called me a "bitch and rude" when all I did was try to communicate the error with proper attitude but was reciprocated with rudeness and disrespect, so I then stood my ground and called out her nasty attitude towards me. Overall the situation was completely avoidable if my proper communication was taken into account with proper customer service. However the girl working refused to give my boyfriend the order just because we were different races and she did not believe we were together. Whenever I am craving some Acai and Nutella especially in Jersey, I go to Playa Bowls for my quick fix. The place is clean, and well decorated. The parking can be a hassle since it's in a main area in Ruthorford. I sometimes have to park some blocks away and walk which isn't an issue. Little pricey I'd have to say compared to some places in NYC. The staff is friendly, however sometimes it can take awhile when they are short staffed.
