    Inside the cali burrito
    Nick C.

Went to Taco Loco for dinner on a weeknight. I was thinking it would be a dine-in restaurant, but they don't have any indoor seating. They do have some tables outside though. We placed our orders at the counter and got ordered it to stay. They're a bit slow, it took about half an hour before our food was ready. We got our food in takeout containers, so I don't really get why they asked if we wanted it to stay or go lol. Visually, the food was very pleasing. We got nachos and a Cali burrito. Normally, a Cali burrito has French fries alongside carne asada, guacamole, pico de gallo, and cheese. This one barely had any fries, and still had the rice and beans. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting. The nachos were good, they had a lot of toppings. It was a bit pricey and slow. Not my favorite place to get a burrito.

I was really disappointed. We waited for our food, almost an hour sitting outside. Restaurant was not crowded, the cooks were chatting back-and-forth. When our food finally came out, they forgot part of our order and at that point, I was really upset after the long wait for us not to get our complete order, by the time the missing items came out, most of the food was cold and the tortillas were hard so was the meat. It was a terrible experience, I will not come back. The only good thing was the nice patio outside specially in the spring.

Usually this place is amazing.. however times must be rough. I ordered the lunch quesadilla; the chipotle sauce all over it! the menu never mentioned the sauce and you couldn't taste anything else. I also order an almost $10 side of guac and chips.. turns out this guac is NOT MADE IN HOUSE. It taste like that store guac from Costco. NOT FRESH AT ALL FOR THE $$$. I'm super disappointed. I called to ask about the chipotle sauce all over and the woman just laughed like it just a little spicy. They never offered to fixed it or anything. #imhungry

Birria and chicken tacos in the middle of devouring them.

We ordered chicken and birria tacos. A gem. The food was so flavorful. We waited a little bit to receive our food after ordering online. It was the weekend, so we didn't mind the wait. The ambiance inside is for to-go orders. However, there were some tables and chairs outside for warmer days to enjoy your food.

Way too much cheese so little meat..

This is my go to taco place for takeout/delivery and I was SO DISAPPOINTED in my recent order we got birirria tacos which are usually good here but this time both orders had little to no meat in it and was instead oozing with cheese. I don't know why they'd cheap out and try to fill the tacos with way too much cheese and very very little meat and think we wouldn't notice!!

What a great hidden gem. I stumbled across this establishment by accident and glad I did. Don't blink or you'll unfortunately miss it as it's nestled between two large restaurants. Everyone was so nice inside and it's very clean. We got the Loco Nachos and I got the Cali-Burrito and my wife got the Chicken tacos. The Cali Burrito was a home run. It consisted of Crispy fries, mixed cheese, chipotle, spicy shrimp, carne asada, pico de gallo, & guac and came with a side of rice and beans. My wife couldn't finish her tacos, so I was able to sneak one and that was very good as well To wash everything down, i got the house citrus soda which was very satisfying. My recommendation if you like Burritos... Get the Cali- Burrito. It's insane.

So I wanted to finally try the Birria tacos. I wanted to know what all the fuzz was about lol. Me being the foodie that I am, I started looking up best places to eat Birria Tacos. This spot was one of them. & boy, did it not disappoint! Tacos were so delicious, a little bit of spiciness (which is good cuz I don't like spicy food..) but this was bare able nothing too crazy. They are full of flavor and cheese. I can't wait to get some more...which will probably be this week! Lol. Go get you sum, NOW!

Some friends told my brother about this Mexican restaurant, so we checked it out. I ordered the birria fries which I've never had from any place before. It gives me west coast vibes cause it's a thing they do. They were not stingy with any of the ingredients and the dipping consume was great. Definitely really tasty. French fries had great texture to it. I washed it down with a horchata of course. Their horchata has a hint of chocolate which was interesting and tasty. Service was patient and friendly. Ambiance is trendy and there was seating outside and next door.

I'll up my review and add a star. We gave this place another shot last night and it wasn't bad. Still wasn't what I was expecting but the addition of some menu items are worth it. Saturday night pick up, I probably ended up waiting another 40-45 minutes on top of the 45 they initially told me so if you're in a hurry and you're ordering on a weekend give them some time. It's a small place with what looks like only two chefs and a few helpers. I wasn't upset about the wait, I mean what else is happening these days anyway lol. So we got the pollo nachos and I feel like they were the same as last time. The chicken breast is very bland, I wish there was more seasoning. Other than that the nachos are great, lots of toppings. We also got the birria specials. I saw this on their Instagram and had to check it out. So the birria tacos were good. Nice and crunchy, plenty of meat, good seasonings and toppings. The birria marruchen was not my favorite. I think it's because it had been sitting since they were pretty slammed with orders so the noodles basically disintegrated to nothing. They were broken apart and not chewy or firm at all. The soup itself is great, the birria meat and sauce is really nice. So if you're going to get the marruchen soup I would ask them to prepare it last. Or skip it and just get the tacos, they're very good. We also got the mix and match tacos. We got chicken, chorizo, carne asada and shrimp. They definitely jam pack each taco. The chicken is the same bland breast meat - I would skip this. The chorizo really just tasted like hot dogs to me. It's not authentic Mexican chorizo. The carne asada and the shrimp were great. Stick with that. We also got the star of the show - shrimp quesadillas. Absolutely delicious. Creamy sauce and fresh shrimp. Really really good. I would try another quesadilla from them anyday. They also brought back their pupusas but I believe it's only on Wednesdays. Call and ask before hand but I'm dying to try those too. They also have great sauces. Crema, guac, red and green salsa, it's all great. I'm glad I gave them another shot.

The Garden State is hailed as one of the most diverse states when it comes to food, hosting some of the best Mexican restaurants on the East Coast. Whether one desires a quick taco or a full-course meal, my friends and I were craving rich and bold tastes from Mexico and decided on this family-owned establishment for an early Cinco de Mayo dinner. The reservation was easily made by calling Mariachi Grill, located on Ridge Road in Lyndhurst. Upon arrival at this popular spot to locals, with its cozy and casual interior decked out in traditional Mexican vibes, we were greeted by the staff and immediately got a table by the entrance, but they also have outdoor dining, weather permitting. The menu selection is much smaller than at other restaurants. We decided on the Cheese Enchiladas, Beef Enchiladas, California Burrito, Beef Burrito, Chicken Fries with Fries, and Shrimp Fajitas. Some meals are accompanied with a small portion of rice and black beans. Complimentary house chips and salsa started our meal. As the restaurant is working on their liquor license, it's BYOB. One can bring your own tequila or wine, and the staff will mix it with their sangria or margarita mixes. We washed our meal down with a pitcher of sangria. The presentation was very good. The food was made incredibly fresh, well seasoned, deliciously tasty, and generous. The price was very reasonable for the area. Our server Lisa with her outgoing personality and her desire to make our visit enjoyable, which we didn't feel rushed. Good experience overall, which we can recommend.

As a vegetarian, I particularly appreciate places that have lots of options for me. This place has two veg soups (the corn soup is excellent - I order it every time), three veg tacos (the cactus and mushroom tacos are my 2 favorites), and lots of other vegetarian options including burritos, quesadillas, various brunch options, etc. Also, their chips are fresh, and both their guac and salsa are delicious. All of their food tastes like the recipes are well-thought-out by somebody with a discerning palate, but also made with love. Moreover, you know a place is next-level when you see white collar yuppies eating next to blue collar workers, and Hispanic people eating next to Caucasian people eating next to Indian people - the food is so good it unites people. As a sweets lover and a hot chocolate snob, I also have to give two thumbs up to their Mexican hot chocolate, which is made in a pot over a stove with milk and melted Mexican chocolate (the most legit way to make hot chocolate). I have yet to try their other desserts, but I look forward to trying them all as I bring more friends to this place. The place has a divey but festive feel, as it is decorated with colorful Mexican decorations. The staff is friendly, fully bilingual, and is deeply knowledgeable about the menu. Our server, told us right off that her English was limited. We speak Spanish, so that was not a problem. The service is mediocre. We asked for water twice. Finally she brought it.
