Shake Hands with Superfood!! This is one of the better locations around featuring nice friendly service and Acai, Pitaya, & Coconut Bowls that are sure to satisfy. My order was exactly what I was looking for which consisted of a perfectly prepared "Ocean Ave Green Bowl" = Kale, Pineapple, Coconut Milk, Topped with Granola, Banana, and Honey. Extremely delicious and jam packed full of nutrients that sent my energy level soaring which lasted throughout my entire adventurous day. I'm a big Playa Bowls fan. I've been to locations all over NJ, and even Fort Lauderdale. The stores are all beautiful, the staff is consistently great, are bowls that are always fresh and high quality. I've never had a bad experience, but the staff at the West Caldwell location is truly the best. The level of service here is rare. Every person I've interacted with has been welcoming, kind, and genuinely helpful. (Where do you find these people?) Pat went above and beyond to make sure my cold brew to cashew milk ratio was perfect, offering to tweak it a few times until it was just right. I wish I remembered everyone's names, because I've had great interactions with so many people here. Whatever you're doing, keep it up. The service here is a gem! read more

NEVER going back again!! We have tried this place a few times because we live nearby and they just can't get our orders right!! Wrong base and switched toppings. It's just very frustrating! To top it off they SKIMP on the base which probably costs them nothing and they barely give you the toppings requested. I've been to Playa Bowls in Denville and loved it. So glad they opened one up in West Caldwell! These types of stores seem to be popping up all over, and to me, Playa Bowl is one of the best. I love it because it tastes amazing and is actually healthy! Today I went with the Oatmeal #1. Steel cut oatmeal with bananas, strawberries, and Nutella. Ok, I don't know how healthy Nutella is, but it does taste great! This is a really convenient location with a huge parking lot. I got take out, but there are a couple of tables and plenty of stools if you prefer dining in. Give Playa a shot, you won't regret it! read more

I love the product but I will never return to this location. I walked in and the place looked closed I was there a few hours before closing so I was confused . Everyone hiding in the back. And one guy just kept staring at me very uncomfortably. I just walked out. They definitely need to hire some new people before I ever set foot in that place again. What a let down. Ordered from them before, not overly impressed with their place. Ordered delivery this time. They forgot one of the items, they gave me credit. Asked if they could deliver it, and I was told not without delivery charge. What I did get was more watery than before. The smoothie was not up to par. Girlfriend and I ordered Playa Bowl and the employees were fantastic. The food itself was not that good. The granola was like saw dust and the lack of chocolate sauce was a downer for me. The proportions seemed poor. There wasnt enough fruit on the top and way too much of the terrible granola. We went here because of the positive reviews and how some other places have reviews saying to come here because the portion sizes are bigger and the bowls are better. I would say the coconut base was bland and the bowl was the exact same size as other similar places. Crave City is a much better fruit bowl place in the area. read more

Today I decided to do lunch at Playa Bowls in Caldwell. As I walked into the establishment there was one patron waiting for her order and me. The stickers on the floor for 6 feet apart social distancing I was about to stand in the corner where I would have been about 15 feet from her and the counter but one of the employees asked that I wait outside. I verified his request and waited outside. As the customer exited and I entered we must have been about a coupe of feet. That same employee was cold and close to rude when taking my order. Never greeted me or thanked me when he took my credit card. As I sat while a second employee filled my order he began to complain how he hates working there and would rather clean toilets. I would suggest to the owner of this establishment to do a much better job screening potential employees before hiring. I won't be going back. read more

I enjoy this playa bowls because it's close to my job and very convenient. The woman that work there are always attentive and very nice. The men (boys) are ridiculous, fooling around with the food, laughing and talking instead of making orders. When the cashier asked one of them to make my drink, his response was " you interrupted my conversation". If they were more attentive to making orders, there wouldn't be a 15 minute wait for one bowl and a drink. read more

First time coming here after hearing the rave reviews of all my friends. This location opened near me, so I was happy to give it a try. I will admit, my pure vida acai bowl was AMAZING. Fruits on top were fresh and delicious. They made my order really quickly. The downside is the cashier apparently doesn't like to give people the proper change back! I gave him $21 for my one order and he gave me back like 40 cents! I let him know that I DEFINITELY was owed more than that and he tried to fix it but still ending up short changing me!! I didn't want to cause a scene and realized we'd never get this right so I just left. Was super annoyed but really enjoyed my bowl. I have been to other Playa Bowl locations many times and this location twice. Both times (in the last year) none of the employees were wearing masks which I thought was odd since they are handling fresh food during a pandemic. I chose to order anyway because I was really in the mood for a bowl and didn't want to deal with parking in Montclair. Also on both visits the fruit has not been fresh. The bananas on top of my bowl should have been used for smoothies or even banana bread. The strawberries were also passed fresh. I actually took them off the top and ate the Nutella, granola and base. Very disappointed. read more

Service was friendly & fast. I do enjoy the combos they offer - my only draw back is the older fruit placed on top of a bowl that I spend 12$ on. If everything is Presentation placing the old fruit on top is not what I like to look at. Older fruit should be used for smoothies not a playa bowl. the base in my playa bowl was hard like ice, not like usual playa bowl bases. it was hard to eat because it wasn't like usual bowls. it was crunchier than usual. no flavor. my teeth were extremely cold i thought something was wrong with them. the dentist told me that i had good teeth. they do have soup tho. maybe next time i'll get the soup. read more

I've definitely been to far better locations than this one - it's a shame as this one is almost right next to my office. They skimp on the fruit and always forget something. This time it was the honey (in both mine & my coworkers bowls), the last time it was the peanut butter (that I paid extra for), but didnt notice until I got back to the office. The bowls are fairly inconsistent. They barely gave me banana today, maybe 6 small slices? All my bowl is banana & blueberry with granola. Then they've tried to charge me extra for replacing strawberries with blueberries (it's an even swap!). The last two locations I've gone to are the same too, IDK why everything is so inconsistent. For the price you pay, it should be out of this world worth it! read more

This location doesn't even come close to others when it comes to customer service and the quality of the bowls! I've tried it here twice and both times the bowls took FOREVER with barely anyone in the store. They are also very stingy on the "drizzles" ... the second time I even asked for extra Nutella (which they probably charged me for) and there was still barely on there. It seems to be very under staffed as other locations I have been to usually have 5-6 people behind the bar and this one there was only 3 young girls that looked like they were in high school. Very friendly staff. I've been here 2 times. Smoothies and bowls taste like freezer burn. I thought it was just a bad batch the first time so I tried it again and it was the same. The ingredients don't taste fresh and although the service is super quick I'd rather them take their time and blend the smoothie enough that there are no chunks. read more
