if you want to lose weight go to West Caldwell location. they are experts in portion control because they don't give you one! 12 Dollar's for a 1/4 of one small scoop of tuna fish between 2 pieces of bread, the snarky manager says this is how cooperate wants to do it. I deviated from my usual Asian chicken salad and regret it. I got the Greek Goddess Cobb salad. It was fresh and the hard cooked egg was surprisingly of a nice texture but I wasn't a big fan. Not the salad's fault. I like that panera readily has nutrition info and it's easy to find something that fits my goals. This location has plenty of parking and is easy to get to but the place is pretty unkept inside and attracts a range of characters. It's not the place's fault though. Lots of teens, a homeless regular but I haven't felt unsafe. I'd watch my belonging carefullly though. They're kind of understaffed but that's typical these days. Great location, for once my turkey sandwich was not drowned in mustard and the strawberry poppyseed salad was delicious. Clean store with plenty of utensils and extra condiments available at the pickup counter. read more

This Panera has a ton of dine in seating. Free wifi and they clean tables pretty quickly. I got the new chicken tikka soup, a greek salad add grilled chicken, a new buffalo chicken baguette sandwich and a blueberry scone. Food all made fresh and was delicious. I will return. read more

HORRIBLE experience! I have been to plenty of Panera Bread locations because it's such a great place to study and get a good meal. This particular location is just shameful. I ate lunch here with my sister today. When we walked in, I noticed a woman eating a watermelon feta salad so I ordered the same, a full salad. My sister ordered a half sandwich and half salad. I was so confused when we got our orders. First of all, my sister's half salad was bigger than my full salad. The watermelon feta salad, which also comes mixed with arugula, had only 6 wilted pieces of arugula. It was basically a small bowl of watermelon. I asked the manager, a young Hispanic woman, about our orders, and she was so rude! Instead of understanding my disappointment and trying to rectify the situation, she was arguing that I didn't know what I was talking about. She went on to explain that the HALF salad is normally bigger than the full salad....WHAT?! On top of that, the entire restaurant was swarming with flies. It was impossible to sit and eat our meal. I don't think I've ever paid the full amount for any of my Panera visits. I hate this place. The service sucks. They never have what they say they have - ask for something that's boldly displayed on the menu and they will tell you they don't carry it. Most recently I asked for the NY Cheesecake style cream cheese and they told me they're not carrying it at that location. Why? Because it doesn't sell. Uh, if you carried it, it might. You tried selling it before you got the pumpkin bagels in? Try again, people. They are consistently rude. They run out of food long before the end of the day. They close the bakery line and make you wait on the main food line, which is usually filled with all the seniors and the yoga moms from the Caldwells who have nothing better to do all day. Beware in that parking lot, they are deadly! I like Panera but this one routinely sucks, gets orders wrong and runs out of food. read more

Panera is Panera. Fast, convenient soup, salad, and sandwiches. The West Caldwell Panera is a good spot. This location has a good amount of seating inside, but no outdoor seating. They have exceptional service and run this franchise location very efficiently. WiFi is strong, there is ample seating, and the place is clean. About the grub - Convenient, (healthier) soups, salads, and sandwiches. Their breads are very tasty! I'm old school and go for the signature sandwiches. read more

Their Thai salad and French Onion Soup never disappoints. While the order kiosk was wonky with credit card swipes, yet eventually accepted my mother's card. We were also served within reason. Unfortunately, all of the tables, including the "available ones," were all dirty. This has not been a problem in other locations. We also heard from another customer that the side breads were clearly ripped apart and not sliced, which is very unsanitary during COVID-19. The autumn squash soup was thick, flavorful and just what was needed on a brisk day. The tuna sandwich was also very tasty, great bread, and a large portion -- half came home. Looking around, the restaurant was clean and tidy. And, being there just after the lunch rush made it the perfect place to sit and read while enjoying a quiet lunch. read more

I loved this place before the pandemic but... the app won't take my credit card (I'm not alone in this problems) and the last two times I called to place an order for curbside pickup it was terrible. Once, I waited 45 min in my car and was hung up on 4x when calling to check in, another time I waited and waited and the order was wrong (there's often something missing.) Loved the rapid order online process. You order online then in ten minutes, your order is waiting for you in a shelf by the door. Very convenient for lunch!! I typically like going to this panaera which is not the closest one to my home or work place. Its clean, customer service is usually right where it should be and the food is available fast. This last time I sat down here to do some last minute work that needed to be submitted fast. I sat at a table that was right next to an outlet, just to find out that it didn't even work. When i asked for assistance regarding the situation no one came back they didn't direct me to another table near an outlet or anything. Lucky for me i had a back up. Then i made my order of food and a coffee. Since i was going to be there for a while i expected to get my coffee in a mug. My coffee never came. So i helped myself to a large togo cup. Then i came to find that the coffee blend i wanted had nothing in it. It was still fairly early in the morning maybe it's a popular blend? I was at my table for over two hours typing. I ORDER 40$ worth of soup you no longer have "BREAD" as an available side on DoorDash ... so I figure hmm they must include bread now, being they are an establishment known for BREAD !! Needless to say 4 soups come with NO BREAD !!! Let me guess " costs are going up " you charge 10$ for a cup of soup !! Plenty of room for bread in that cost average !! The food here is delicious...like all the other Panera's I have been to, the food is consistent. I recommend the chicken tortilla soup as well as the black bean soup. The downside? I have been to this location at least 4 times and they have been consistent in messing up my order every time. I have always had to go back with something to "fix." Much of their problem is that the majority of the staff speaks English as a second language and my order gets lost in translation. I have always gone during the busy lunch rush when they are trying for speed, but I wish they would sacrifice the speed slightly in order to get my order correct the first time. read more

I ordered lunch online today, as I often do, and got the same salad I always get. Cobb salad without chicken or bacon. When I arrived at my place of employment it had chicken on it. Not a huge deal, so I drove all the way back and requested a replacement salad. I even handed the cashier my receipt with the order specifications printed on it. I checked it out briefly, and it seemed fine so I drove back to work. Little did I know that lurking underneath the croutons was a mound of bacon bits. Now I'm beginning to get frustrated, as my lunch break is nearly over and I still don't have any sort of meal I can eat. So I call and ask to speak to the manager. He tells me the next meal is on him. That's fine and all, but it still leaves me without a meal for today. I politely requested a refund instead, as I could not return to the store to get another salad and I was fed up and did not want to return again another time to claim the free meal. I was told that even though I had paid online for my meal, I would have to return to the building to get my refund. So they'll take your money without you physically being there, but they won't give it back unless you physically go there and beg. This made little sense to me, as I've had a previously wrongly made order refunded to me without having to return. Frustrated, I figured it was time to call the corporate office and lodge a complaint. The solution to my problem? A 10 dollar gift card... So roughly a dollar less than I paid for my meal in the first place. Apparently it's too much to ask for my money back when I'm given food I cannot eat. So here I sit a few hours later, still hungry, and 11 dollars poorer. To sum it up, if they get your order wrong and you ask for a refund, you will be told to go f**k yourself. All I have left to do now is to return once again to spend the 10 dollar gift card I was given in order to get some meager form of compensation for the money I essentially had stolen from me. But I assure you, it will be a salad made of bitterness and defeat. read more

This was my go-to Panera for years when I was still living with my parents. I stop back in occasionally when I'm in the area. It's not the newest (or cleanest) Panera, but it's got a large seating area and a private parking lot. Most Panera Bread's have already converted to adding self-service kiosks for ordering, but this location is a bit behind. The Clifton location has had that for months. On my visit on Sunday night, they finally installed the self-service kiosks. They are not yet operational, but should be ready for use shortly. I'm very excited for that, because the lines to order food here can get quite lengthy. Panera likes to send e-mail offers to myPanera members. My mother received an offer for $5 off her next order when you order through the kiosk or your cell phone. This is her "home" Panera location, and was not able to use her coupon, as the kiosks didn't yet exist and she does not have a "Smart Phone". To her this was rather disappointing. The quality of the food is good, but make sure to check your order before you leave the counter. I ordered the Autumn Squash Soup on Sunday night. I specifically ordered it without pumpkin seeds, which my receipt reflects, but they put the pumpkin seeds in anyway. I had to tell the employee that the order was incorrect. He replaced the soup. I don't understand how difficult it is to read the comments in an order before filling it. I'll still go back to this location when I'm in the West Caldwell area. I like the food, but it's not my favorite Panera location by any means. Hopefully things will run smoother once the kiosks are up and running. read more

No idea why anyone would go to Panera Bread unless desperate. Was there today for lunch and everything there is simply uninspired, at best. I ordered a cob salad that was shameful. The dressing tasting like it was born from a chemistry beaker and chicken boarded on tasting artificial. The service is efficient but seemingly clueless in what they are offering when questioned. All told, clean and ingredients all seem fresh but I would never go back unless left NO other choice anywhere.
