I always gotta hit up a Manhattan Bagel Shop whenever I see one around because I know I'm gonna be able to grab a super solid breakfast sandwich and a killer cup of coffee and this location is an excellent example of that. They're serving up piping hot 100 percent Arabica Bean Coffee that could literally "wake the dead" or in my case break my Monday morning blues and get me rolling. They're "cracking eggs before the crack of dawn" which is a huge deal for me since I'm always up early. Walking in and looking at an enormous amount of delicious baked goods just waiting to jump into your bag might be the hardest decision your gonna have to make for your entire day, Lol. Whatever the choice is you really can't go wrong with anything here, trust me. My usual go-to is a Taylor Ham, Egg, Cheese, and Avocado on an Everything Bagel Sandwich which never disappoints and always puts a smile on my face. Sunday afternoon- The muffins (Sour cream chocolate chip, Blueberry and Dutch chocolate) were amazingly fresh and warm. The service was very friendly and fast. My only thing was finding a lactose free product. They have NONE. No coffee or tea to pair with my delicious goodies!!!! Some people use soy and or almond milk for dietary (calorie) reasons. I am in pain when I drink milk products so I need lactose free and don't like those milky, watery barely there alternatives. I want a lactose free and creamy alternative to half and half and I believe the $3 to $ 4 businesses might spend weekly to put it out for consumers is worth it. Eh this location does not amaze me so much. If I'm coming from Livingston and don't feel like going out of my way to the one on Hollywood Ave, I will come here. Manhattan Bagel makes awesome breakfast sandwiches. I mostly frequent the Totowa shop, but I've been coming to this location sporadically for many years. I stopped in yesterday to redeem my free egg sandwich for my birthday. The staff was very friendly and they made a darn good sandwich. The egg and bacon were both cooked perfectly. The honey whole wheat everything bagel had just the right amount of flavor. The regular sized fountain drinks are relatively large and you can pour your own beverages. I went late in the afternoon (about 1 hour before closing) and they were out of many different bagel varieties. So if you want the best selection, I recommend dining earlier than I did. This is located in a strip mall with TJ Maxx and CVS. The parking is plentiful. My only complaint is that they close at 4 pm. I wish they stayed open for dinner. read more

I actually prefer Einstein Bros (from the same parent company) because I find that Manhattan Bagel stores tend to be small and cramped, with limited seating, but this is not a problem if you visit during non-peak hours. That aside, I like the sandwiches. They do take the time to prepare these properly. Service is good but a bit curt, as if they're playing up the Manhattan aspect of it. Overall though, I'd definitely consider this store for a late lunch. read more

I frequent this establishment quite often since I live about 2 minutes door to door and it's on my way to the office. Steak, egg, and cheese on a roll is my go to order and usually it comes out decent however they seem to have been better in the past when they had different cooks. They have a new staff now so there's only two faces that I recognize from previous visits. The two guys that I remember from prior visits are great and pleasant to deal with, always in a good mood. The bagels are good, nothing that will blow your mind away but they are consistent in quality. Manhattan Bagel is a franchise and I've been to a few other Manhattan bagels where the quality of the food was terrible but this one in West Caldwell is pretty good. Manhatten bagel was a big shocking success for me. I ordered a Taylor ham egg and cheese on a honey whole wheel bagel. One good quality of this egg sandwhich is that is just the right size and is not massive. Another good thing about this egg sandwich is that it is not overflowing with egg and taylor ham. I have seen many egg sandwiches that have Taylor ham bulging out the side of the bagel and in my opinion is just disgusting. The last reason why I enjoyed this egg sandwich especially over others is because they don't put to much of any thing they put on the sandwich.
