Gigi's cafe is a good Latin addition to the neighborhood. Parking could be tricky but there are available on the side streets. The restaurant itself is lovely inside and packed. The menu has a lot of fun options and our server was nice. They do have this cool was of ordering in which you scan the QR code to see the menu and you order right from your phone. Unfortunately, the wait was SUPER long. And it is very overpriced. Almost $10 for a latte? For the price, I don't know that I'd come back but our meal was enjoyable.

This was disappointing. It took 30 mins post reservation to be seated. Once the food was ordered it took 2.5 hours for it to be received. At first we didn't notice due to conversing but then we got hungry. Mind you we had the simplest meal. Tres golpes. When we brought up the delay the server was like oh I'm sorry. Proceeded to bring out some mangu for my nephew so he didn't have to keep waiting. However a growing boy can't eat only that and when we asked again about the food we were told It would be out shortly. My friend went to Burger King and back with food for her son and they still hadn't brought the food. When it was time to pay we asked for compensation and one waiter got another and they literally gave us the runaround we ended up paying and leaving.

We were excited to try GiGi's Café, especially since they make their own food, but the service was a letdown. There didn't seem to be much urgency, and our order of two matcha lattes, a soup, and a salad took about 45 minutes. For a café, it would really help if drinks came out first to make the wait feel shorter. Unfortunately, the experience felt more like restaurant timing than café service, which was disappointing. Hopefully this is something they can improve. Ambiance is nice and clean

As soon as you walk in and sit down, they'll charge you a 20% gratuity- no matter if you are a party of one or five. It appears they want to pay their staff less and shift the cost to us as they profit more. Food was slightly below average and pricey in comparison to the portion size. Drinks however, were really good. The drinks that were supposed to to be over sweet were not and you can actually taste the flavors without the overpowering sweetness. We opted for the cold flight containing: Tiramisu, Cream Coffee, Pistachio, and Matcha.

Saw this place open up a few months ago and decided to give it a try 40 minutes before closing time. Ordered the tres golpes, a bacon, egg and cheese empanada and hot pistachios drink. The tres golpes was so delicious. It was served as a hot and hearty portion--no skimping here and BONUS! It comes with some avocado slices. The pistachio drink was so creamy because the cup is lined with the pistachio cream. The service was excellent, especially since I came here so close to closing time. I didn't feel rushed and the staff was warm. Definitely coming back and trying something new soon!

As someone who works in the restaurant industry for over ten years, I am not one to write a bad review. However, this was by far the worst experience I ever had. For starters I'd like to acknowledge the fact that it was a Sunday and I understand the brunch rush but this was completely unacceptable. I had big expectations for this place despite the bad reviews because the food looked fantastic as well as the drinks and I am someone who likes to experience things on my own and not be influenced by others however the reviews are very accurate. I will admit my latte was delicious but it took well over a half hour to come out while the rest of my party was served nothing. To continue we waited over an hour for any food to come out and that was after we said something to a server. And then we were told that our orders were never placed and then we were told it was made and never brought out. I'd like to acknowledge the fact that we are able to see all the employees working; we saw one employee stuffing her face to the point of not even being able to chew whatever she put in her mouth. Another employee making drinks was holding tickets in her mouth while preparing drinks. We had four different servers come to our table and they did not communicate any issues we had with each other. Eventually, the "manager" (who is dressed like all the other servers) tried to address our concerns, but wasn't actually hearing us. A refresher flight was ordered but they didn't have the ingredients to make it, which they didn't tell us until an hour in, and was then brought a random drink that no one ordered. One plate that did come out was sitting out because the food was lukewarm at best. My one friend asked numerous times to cancel her order and was continuously ignored. The waitress kept bringing out one thing at a time. We also never received a wellness shot. The waitress was very forceful and not understanding of what was happening. The tables next to us were also having issues, complained their drinks were watered down and their food still hadn't come out after over an hour. The worst part is you know EXACTLY when your food is sent to the kitchen because you receive a text since no one actually takes your order. Also I'd like to acknowledge the false advertisement. I ordered the lemon blueberry pancakes that looked completely different from the picture on the menu. In my opinion, the ordering system is 70% of the problem and the remaining 30% is lack of leadership and organization. Perhaps hire a manager and not the owner's wife, who clearly didn't know how to talk to paying customers. Giving reasons like the food was made but never brought out is an unacceptable excuse when you have multiple employees walking around looking lost, eating food in front of customers, and having tickets in their mouths that eventually go on people's plates. The chicken noodle soup was also underwhelming. It tasted like watered down chicken broth with only one tiny piece of chicken. $10 for broth is ridiculous. Their POS system is also counterproductive and problematic. We scanned the QR code to order our food, and the ticket listed a completely different table resulting in one of the plates never being brought out. Their system also showed that we had not paid when everything was in fact paid for via the menu/QR code.

After seeing a few people mention this new spot, my partner and I decided to check it out on a Saturday afternoon. We were happy to find that it offers ample parking. The café is tastefully decorated, with a mix of seating options: standard tables and chairs, cozy couches, and more intimate corners near a bookshelf. The staff was warm and welcoming. We were given two extensive menus--one for food and one for drinks (more on that later). My partner ordered a latte and I got a hibiscus refresher. The latte was good but could have been hotter. The refresher, was beautifully presented and very refreshing. The food took a while to arrive. Although we ordered an appetizer, it only came out a few minutes before our main dishes. The tostones with guacamole were generously portioned and quite good. I ordered the chilaquiles but what I received didn't resemble traditional chilaquiles. It was more like pulled chicken breakfast tacos. Chilaquiles are typically made with tortilla chips, a generous amount of sauce, and runny eggs. In this case, the eggs were overcooked, and the dish felt dry. The flavor wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I expected or ordered. My partner had the Tres Golpes. Unfortunately, the mangu was quite dry, and the bacon was overcooked. That said, I do think this place has potential. The space is beautiful, and the staff is friendly. It might help to simplify the menu and focus more on a few standout food items alongside the coffee offerings. I'd come back again for drinks and the ambiance.

My friend and I came for a brunch/coffee date on a weekday. We heard the weekends were busy, so decided to check this place out on a weekday. There were maybe 4 other people in there with us, we stayed around 1.5-2hours. The atmosphere was great, the staff were friendly, and told us we could sit anywhere and they would bring the menu to us. It was VERY clean and I loved the interior of the restaurant. Coffee menu had great choices, I ended up getting the cookie latte. It was good! I ordered the Tres Golpes, which I'm familiar with from having it at my friends' houses. The mangu was good, and there was a good serving of it (I noticed from old reviews they seemed to have improve the presentation and amount). Salami is always good, can't go wrong with that. Could I have used another piece? Definitely, but that would probably be the salami greed in me. Runny egg, cheese, and onions were cooked well imo. I know it's blasphemy, but I did ask for hot sauce (I'm a spicy palate girl) and they did have sriracha for me to use, so I was satisfied. I also ordered the chimi for my husband to take home. He said it was a good 5/5. I would definitely come again to try the other coffee choices and other food menu items, or just get the tres golpes again (with more salami pls). I'll be back!

Come in and grab a seat. Server brought over the menus and then came back to take our order. We got the Toasted Marshmallow Mocha hot and iced. Both were aesthetically pleasing but also tasty. The tres golpes was a hit and loved the avocado with pepper sprinkled on it. Tres leches pancakes were so good and didn't need syrup. Ordered two eggs and Taylor ham on the side. Everything was delicious and we will be back again. Plenty of seating and definitely can use as a remote work location. We found quick parking right in the front.

This week I have been to Gigi's café twice. I went once for breakfast and once for lunch. Before giving my review, I wanted to make sure that their food was good on both levels! Well, I need to tell you they are beyond well! It is so nice to have a Latin fusion restaurant in the area that actually cooks authentic food! I have been in my town for 36 years and I've yet to find a place in Montclair New Jersey that would ever come close to their food! I first went on Sunday when it was crowded and I had Tres golpes. The mangu was so moist and seasoned well! Accompanying it was the salchichón and fried cheese. I did not have the eggs because I can't eat eggs out in public, but those eggs look absolutely delicious! I also had the morir sanyañdo. Absolutely delicious. I then went back on Wednesday for lunch and I had the arroz con Pollo. Chicken with seasoned to perfection, the rice was to die for because not only did it have nice moisture and cooked thoroughly like Dominican rice should taste like, but she took it up a notch by adding cilantro to it! You can eat the white rice alone without any beans. But I had the pinto beans and they were the ones that you can just grab a spoon and just eat beans by itself. You can tell those beans were made with Sofrito and I'm finished off with the right seasonings. After my lunch, I had the pistachio and ricotta cake. It was really good! I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but it was like a little cheesecake with pistachio cake and a nice little layer of crushed pistachios and sauce.. The serving size was a great amount for a lunch portion or even if you save it for dinner! The Dulce de Leche latte iced was nice and refreshing. It was sweetened to the right level. The coffee was better than any Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts coffee. When I walked into the café, for the first time the ambience of the Restaurant is really pretty. There was a nice level of Spanish music that had you wanting to dance and the music was so happy and it just made you wanna be there! The decor is really pretty.

Chilaquiles - they should have just called them breakfast nachos.

Please, don't waste your time or money. This place is overpriced and way overhyped by social media. I pass by Gigi's cafe all the time and decided to finally give it a try. Yes, it was a Saturday around brunch time but it wasn't that busy for the service to be that slow. We sat down and placed our order at 11:30, didn't get our coffees until around 12 and didn't get our food until the person I was with questioned the staff as to why we are waiting so long for our food. As soon as we questioned the wait time, our order magically appeared at our table. We wait a total of 45 minutes from the time we placed the order until the mediocre food showed up at our table. I ordered the chilaquiles and the person I was with ordered the eggs Benedict. My biggest question is why are you putting items on your menu that you don't even know how to make? The eggs Benedict came out the eggs and hollandaise sauce were cold and was served on 2 whole English muffins - not 1 muffin that was split in half and toasted, two entire English muffins that were cold, weird but okay. Then the chilaquiles, ooooh boy, chilaquiles are NOT the same as nachos, please let your "chef" know that. I was served a plate of dry tortilla chips with cheese melted on top, shredded chicken and some eggs. At first glance I thought maybe the chips around the edges of the plate were just not covered in salsa, nope as I ate I could see that it was basically just a plate of nachos with 2 fried eggs on top. Their description says "Crispy corn tortilla tossed in flavorful green salsa" there wasn't a drop of salsa to be found on that plate. Very disappointing. The coffee was also not great, it was watered down and not worth the 11 dollars. All that being said, I would never recommend this place to anyone and would never go back again. The whole experience was disappointing and $67 dollars is way too much money to spend in this economy on mediocre food and terrible service.

The quality of the food was very good. All seemed fresh. The coffee could have been a bit bigger but it was well made. I ordered the omelette. They do not skimp on the cheese. They were very patient with my group since we had a children on the move. Overall it was a great cafe. Lots of seating rooms and parking in the back. It's a usually quiet cafe. But welcomes kids so that depends on the patrons that day.

Very cute place! There are tons of tables but also cozier seating options like chairs and couches. I came during the week and it was cozy and quiet enough to meet someone for a work meeting and get some work done. There's also free WiFi. We spent quite a while inside and we're not rushed to leave at all. The team also checked on us enough but was disruptive to our work meeting. We both also enjoyed our food! There are great options on the menu. We especially appreciated the latte flight so we can try multiple flavors and the appetizer sampler to try multiple flavors of their empanadas and arepas. All drink flavors and appetizer flavors we had were delicious! I will definitely be back to try more on the menu.

There's free street parking right up front. I've been here twice and both visits were positive experiences. The cafe is small, but cozy. The greenery and natural lighting make it a welcoming space to meet up with a friend over coffee and pastries or to study. There's a few tables, a couch, and stool seating facing the window. There's also free wifi and outlets. The tables are on the smaller side and the cafe isn't that big, so it's probably not best for large groups. Their menu is simple and a bit limited. Honestly... I prefer it that way! They have your core espresso drinks and a few paninis and croissant sandwiches. They bake their own pastries fresh on the premises. I recommend trying their cookies - they are huge, soft, and chewy! They also specialize in custom cakes for special occasions. Everything is reasonably priced. Baristas are sweet and efficient. They make some tasty iced lattes! The espresso is strong, but not too bitter. It has just the right balance of coffee and milk. I recently tried the Ham Solo sandwich ($10) which included scrambled egg, ham, cheddar, and avocado on a croissant with a side of chips. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't order it again. The egg was dry and the ham and cheese tasted like those cheap, pre-sliced ones from grocery stores. If I lived closer, I could see myself stopping by more often. Check them out if you're in the area!

***3 1/2 stars***…read more Yesterday I decided on a total whim to just grab lunch here before seeing Disclosure Day across the street. I've walked by a gazillion times, usually in the mid-afternoon or evening when the place is really jumping (at least based on the outdoor seating situation). This time around, I came for an early lunch around 11:30am when there were only a few other people sitting down and I had my pick of indoor or outdoor seating. I didn't get much of a look at the interior during my brief trip inside, but it seemed pleasant enough. Morally I didn't have much of a choice though but to sit outside at their communal picnic tables, given that it was sunny and 72. You do the math. As most of my solo eating adventures go, the service was excellent. It definitely helped that it wasn't busy, but both waitresses on the premises were super attentive and I ordered my meal literally within 30 seconds of sitting down. I wasn't on a hardcore schedule (my movie wasn't for an hour and 15 minutes) but I was in and out in probably 20-25 minutes, which is just wild for a legit sit-down meal. Top marks all around. I liked that they kept a bottle of tap at my table too; just efficient there. As soon as I saw gnocchi on the menu, my decision was made. I went with the gnocchi al pomodoro off the lunch entree menu, which was honestly just okay. This is usually a dish I really enjoy, and while it was clearly fresh (the chunks of mozzy are a nice touch) it was pretty bland and tasteless. It's extremely rare for me to look around for seasoning, but I did here (and didn't see any within range, so let it go). Honestly very surprising. The gnocchi itself was fine, but the pieces were so small it was actually difficult to eat/get them onto the fork tines. I had to scoop most of them up, and it was a slow process. Not the biggest deal in the world (the gnocchi was tasty in and of itself) but just a slight annoyance. The price point was fine; with tip, I paid a little over $20, which is on par for Montclair. Maybe it was just an off day/lunch, but I think the play is to come back for dinner with a bottle of wine and get a different dish. This place is very popular (during my brief meal, several people walked by openly declaring they were going to stop by later to eat) so perhaps a few grains of salt here, which would have been nice to add to my dish.
