I wish I could give no stars. Their manager said quote on quote, "I am not going to help her because she doesn't tip." I had only bought one drink but it is funny as a African American woman, I am unable to get a drink because I don't TIP. I didn't know that you can not get service because you don't tip and he did not help me and told me to go down the bar while he helped other customers. The manager said this and he didn't know what I was going to do, I was gonna tip but I couldn't get a drink. I felt racially profiled because the manager didn't treat anyone else like that but me. There was nothing spectacular about the place.... One of those cheap local places younger people go because they don't want to drive to downtown. The crowd.... There were some funny people here. Definitely some 6th year ARC students. There were groups of kids who looked like they had no idea what they were doing back in High School and ended up at Sac State but never moved out of their parents' house and thus... drove out to the bar because it's close to Gold River.... Anyway. I think I saw ONE other Asian person in the entire bar... There was probably over 50 people in there. Not my kind of scene but nothing bad if you have a decent sized group, maybe on thanksgiving when everyone is back for break. read more

Chill, laid back environment--mostly the older crowd frequent this place since it's far from downtown and a bit out of the way. They have a WIDE VARIETY of games available--anywhere from pool, darts (where the machine actually keeps tally of the points, making it more competitive!), shuffle board, arcade basketball, and much much more! There are also a ton of TV's available to watch all the sports your little heart desires! Drinks are reasonably priced and you don't need to dress to impress! It's a step up from a pool hall since the crowd is a bit more mature and older (I'd say the age range is a where from people in their early 30's to late 40's). This probably isn't my first choice for bars but there's always parking--since they have their own lot, bartenders are somewhat friendly (not as personable as the ones you meet at dive bars), and you can always find something to do! Not an ideal place to meet people if your single but more for those who just want a chill night out with friends! read more

I like it here. It's completely out of the way as I live in South Sacramento but it's such a cool atmosphere that I have no problem driving out to hang out here. Everything's laid back. First time coming here and will never return. The bartenders are rude as hell. Acts like we are an inconvenience for them. The music comes from a juke box and everyone wants to play country or rock the entire time. The food is a joke. Might as well serve us play dough because the food is flat and tastes like crap. Came here with some friends on a Saturday to play pool and darts. My friend and I ordered one drink each paying separately. At the end of the night we went to the bar to close our tabs which were $5.67 each. Next day we both checked our bank accounts and the bartender up charged us to $20 each...shady. read more

I've been going to this place for years (when I use to live in Sac and still when I come back to visit during the holidays). Drinks are moderately priced, have lots of pool tables, plus its usually packed (with locals/regulars which can work for or against you) with good ratios by 10pm, but by midnight, the place becomes a total swordfest, lol, so make sure to have a back up plan. read more

I'm visiting from Colorado. Came into this bar with family and friends. I ordered a lemon drop and the bartender made it as a martini. I was asked if that's what I ordered. I stated, in Colorado it's made as a shot. The bartender told me that Colorado is doing it wrong and California is bigger so they are doing it right. I stated, well we legalized weed, so clearly Colorado is doing it right. I held my hand out to collect my change and this guy dropped my change in the bar. Clearly your doing it right dude. At least in Colorado we treat our customers with respect and dignity. If I lived here I would have left and went to a bar that would want our business. Sad, very sad. If you're just going for drinks and already ate, this is the place to go. Talk about dive bar. They have a wide assortment of pool tables, shuffle board, darts, and a basketball game. The drinks aren't too expensive and the service was friendly and prompt. But I agree with the other reviewer that they need more food options. Haven't been here in years. The bartender was super friendly-introduced me and my friend to a creamsicle. Haven't had it? Go and try it...its a delicious drink. They have pool, air hockey, basketball, darts and a jukebox. It was nice and quiet when we went. I'll definitely be going back! read more

This is a good place to play pool and that's it. The whole bar stinks like mold and the carpet is old, smelly and nasty. The bartender was serving the bouncer double extra large vodka drinks for free (he was already wasted and working) instead of serving me. He refused to open a bottle of wine for me and made me order Vodka which messes up my stomach. I only drink wine. These people are just as rude as their sister bar down the street on Sunrise blvd. Super fun bar. Lots of games to play. About 10 pool tables, a few dart boards, shuffleboard, air hockey, foosball, and basketball machines. Had a great time. The staff was friendly and our server was very good at keeping the drinks comin while we were playing pool. We didn't try the food but it smelled like good ol' greasy bar food :) read more

I'll start off by saying that i'm giving the bouncer a 1 star. Why you ask? I am a lesbian who dresses more masculine but you can clearly tell I am a woman! I went into players to celebrate my 25th birthday on July 18, 2014. He would not let me in because I was wearing a tank top. my brother and my 2 guy friends confronted the bouncer and asked why i was not allowed in when their were clearly a bunch of women wearing tank tops and on top of that their women employees were also wearing tank tops! So just because i dress more boyish I'm now classified as a man?!? I could not believe this. I was waiting outside figuring out what to do because not only did I not bring a sweater or a different shirt but I am not from Carmichael AND this was at 11pm which means no clothing stores were open for me to make a quick trip to. So back to my friends confronting the bouncer asking him all of these questions....it got to the point where the bouncer realized he F*cked up big time!!! I was finally let in and 2 women bar tenders came to the rescue and apologized so many times to my group and I . I wish i would have gotten her name because she was amazing! and cooled the group down. Don't get me wrong i LOVE players, if it wasn't for that douche bag I would have given players 5 stars with no hesitation! This was not the first time I've been there with a tank top and never had a problem till that night. If it weren't for the other employees my birthday would have been ruined. Thanks Douche bag! Get this bar out of the sports bar category. They, themselves, admit that their sister bar down the street is the sports bar. That being said, this is more of a modern pool/gaming bar. Every game is pay to play by the handful of quarters, which means low class and low quality. charge by the hour places tend to provide better equipment. They have shuffleboard, which is usually a good sign for a bar, but this is the first time I have seen a pay to play quarters shuffleboard table. Pure blasphemy. The darts are all electronic boards. The service is mediocre. The beer selection is on the low end, only about 8-9 different beers. When I sat down at the bar, there was myself and one other person in the place. the bartender took my order and then immediately put down a bunch of 'reserved' signs across all the seats in the middle of the bar, including both sides of the seat that I was sitting at. If that doesn't say, in a not so subtle way, go away, I don't know what does. When the bartender walked away, I asked the other guy, who seemed to be a regular, what was up with the signs. He said it was for a group of her golfing regulars. I stayed for about a half an hour and they never showed and neither did any other customers. If you are serious about pool, darts, or shuffleboard, go somewhere else. If you like good beer, go somewhere else. If you are a twenty-something with a handful of quarters and just want a friendly game or two with friends, this place will probably work for you. The beer I bought was reasonably priced. The short waitress that works there overlooked myself and my company not once, not twice, but three times over and then some. She not only ignored us but was quick to greet everyone else around us even after we had been there for over 30 minutes. Worthless. The newer waitress took a pass or two before finally getting to us, but became more consistent after the fact. We tried this place before in the past and have come to the conclusion that they're more concerned with the friends they know rather than trying to make an impression on everyone else.
