They had put me in for the wrong date when I'd called to schedule it. But, due to a cancellation, they were able to see me when I came in anyway. The front desk person was not as welcoming as at my regular dentist, and my cleaning was not as thorough. The equipment was old, but at least it was clean. The biggest turn-off was hearing the hygienists and dental assistants gossiping in the hallway outside my exam room--super unprofessional. This was definitely a more ghetto dental office experience than I am used to, but I suppose you get what you pay for.

The office is very new and clean -- impressive for any doctor's office. The staff was meh. My cleaning was ok; I've had better. Former chairside dental assistant here by the way. The hygienist was meh. The doctor was rushed. In fact everyone was They have so many procedure rooms all filled with patients and not many assistants, hygienists and as far as I know just the one dentist. Look, I'm not looking to tell anyone my life story, but where was my exam? I didn't get one any of the times I went -- charting, checking gums, etc. No dental assistant to take notations. But my insurance sure as heck got billed for the exams The dentist would always say ok, see you in 6 months, get up off his stool, throw his gloves away and leave the room. The first two times it happened I assumed things were done differently now since I was a dental assistant -- we manually charted and didn't have digital xrays. So then I wisened up and starting asking about my exam. He'd poke around my mouth with his gloved fingers but that's about it. Didn't even bother to look at xrays -- they insisted I needed a full series every 6 months (keep in mind I'm in my mid 40s and only have 2 cavities that were so small I didn't even need numbing). No root canals, no crowns. But if my insurance is billed for xrays just because it can be at least look at them man. I also have a problem with so many xrays. But anyway Let's talk about the condescending hygienists who tell me how awful my teeth are. Really?? If you've read this far you'd know that was baloney. Scare tactics maybe? I floss after almost every meal and brush 2-3 times a day. No buildup that I can see Now the front office staff and people who answer phones. So rude. They usually just say hello and I have to ask if I've reached the dental office, and I do notice they cater to a certain crowd. I'm not sure how to say this in a way that doesn't sound disrespectful, but being the only native English speaker in the waiting room I have always definitely noticed such a drastic change in the staff when communicating with people whose first language may not be English. I'm very glad that everyone can have access to the healthcare they need, but it's just a weird change I was actually supposed to have an appointment today for a cleaning and exam today but had to call because my car is still in the shop. When I asked when the next followup appointment was the gentleman said next year and was going to leave it at that. Being that it's the middle of December next year isn't too far off but I had to push for that follow up date "next year". Since my new appointment is about a month away I think I will cancel and seek out a new dentist so I don't have to feel like crap and insulted when I go in for a simple cleaning and "exam" Now I see why they got such poor reviews on Yelp (but kudos online?). Do not go here. My story isn't one from someone who only went once or had some billing issue. I've…read morebeen there four times. This place is a nightmare. The first time I went, it was the first time I went to a dentist in 15 years. I was fully prepared for the worst. In fact, I knew there was work to be done. They did some x-rays and when the dentist came in, he proclaimed that my teeth were in excellent shape! Nothing to be done! I knew he was wrong, but I kind of convinced myself to believe him. I went back for a cleaning six months later. That's where they found eight cavities. The lady that checked me out tried to tell me about how sometimes people have perfect teeth and then suddenly get a bunch of cavities. No, don't treat me like an idiot. I made appointments for the fillings. The first one seemed fine. I refuse to see that original dentist that couldn't find my cavities, but the other seemed great. The first appointment was for two fillings. For weeks, I've been in constant pain. I've gone through so much ibuprofen you wouldn't believe it. I called to make another appointment to get it checked out and had to wait over a week, but whatever. I went back in to get it fixed and get a couple more fillings. They did the fillings and nothing to fix the tooth that's had me in constant pain for four weeks. The dentist told me that it's normal to feel hot and cold sensitivity for a whole, even though I said repeatedly that hot and cold sensitivity wasn't the problem I was having. She said I should have gotten a root canal then, literally as I was about to leave. I went there to get that one tooth fixed, and they just sort of didn't listen to my issue. Don't go there. They're just bad dentists. I know if you don't go to the dentist, you might think, how bad could they be? I don't need anything fancy. They can be this bad.

I have spent hours upon hours in dental chairs my whole life…read more When I move to a new area, it takes a while to find that perfect dentist, as I know we'll be spending lots of time together. I started working in Huntington last year, asked around for dentist reco's, and kept hearing about Dr. Kalmar. People raved about it and now I see why. I made my first appointment there a few months ago and after not having seen a dentist for a couple of years, I of course had a lot of follow up work to be done. As soon as I let them know that I had my wedding coming up, they bent over backwards to get all of my appointments in the allotted time. They even offered an extra cleaning day before my wedding free of charge. Because of all of the appointments needed, I had to see ALL of the different dentists at different times and each one was better than the last. It is such a warm, friendly, welcoming place, and the dentists really make you feel like family when you're with them. They work efficiently, yet in a very gentle manner. Only downside is that they book up quickly so sometimes you have to wait a few weeks to get an appointment. That being said, I've never waited more than 3 minutes in the waiting room so that more than makes up for it :)

Just was told that my family no longer are patients there due to a bad review my wife left on yelp…read more The problem was not with the dentist or cleaning ladies , the problem was that my wife kept getting a bill for something she didn't have to pay . My wife called numerous times to make sure insurance was taken care of this . No one could reach us back or solve any resolution on the phone. My wife clearly wrote all this on yelp . Today we get a call we're not permitted back. What's sad is we love the dentist's there , when feelings get involved this is what happens. Also side note the receptionist told my wife why she was so upset over a 20 dollar bill (it was for over 200 dollars) . This has also happened to coworkers of my wife's . Instead of figuring it out and getting back to us they tell good hardworking paying customers they're not allowed back over a misunderstand on there end and that's ridiculous. I don't want this to happen to anyone else . Maybe they will speak to there staff so they don't loose thousands of more dollars over there mistakes . Could have bin solved simply by returning our call . Thank you again to all the other staff for your great services . They made it point to call us and tell us we're no longer welcome , if you did your job correctly the first time my wife wouldn't have had to use yelp to get the problem resolved. Once you read what she wrote about you not the dentists or other staff you made it a point to get back . THATS WHAT THIS SITE IS FOR TO LET THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHO YOU REALLY ARE BEFORE THEY HAVE TO DEAL WITH THESE PROBLEMS THEMSELVES.

Instead of showing any understanding, the office insisted that I pre-pay the entire visit before being seen and made it clear they would not budge. When my husband called to clarify whether this was a one-time requirement or standard policy, the staff member said, "The doctor will decide that," which suggested they had already labeled me as unreliable. The tone was rigid and dismissive from start to finish. What makes this even more disappointing is that we were planning to pursue additional cosmetic dentistry with this office clearly not a small investment but even that didn't shift their attitude. It felt like the front desk was more interested in enforcing punishment than providing patient-centered care. We ultimately chose to take our business elsewhere. I hope the practice becomes aware of how their staff's approach impacts both patient trust and long-term business.

The best dentists around! My parents have been going since I was little and I started going at 15…read more(over 15 years ago). I have high anxiety and they always make me feel more comfortable than other places. I will be taking my own children here soon. I travel from moriches to see them, it is worth the trip. All the staff are lovey and helpful!!! I have had both doctors and live them both!
