Shredded Beef?
Summer H.

Born and raised in San Diego, so I know my authentic Mexican food. I'm always on the hunt for my hometown favs. But sadly, this place is highly lacking in authentic. We got our order to go. I asked for no sour cream because the 10 minute travel time it would have been warm and melted. So I put my own on at home. I got the shredded beef flauta plate. Ooof....I'm sorry but the shredded beef looked like ground beef mixed with tomato paste and chile sauce from my mom's 1980's Betty Crocker Cookbook. It was barely fried, more doughy than fried. Just three mini ground beef burritos is all it was. Now where was the shredded beef?! (See photo) My husband got the Chimichanga and that was like a flate crepe. Now let's get to the rice. More like mushy porridge with a bubbly crust on top. Eeww. Just Ewww. (See photo) Beans. Definitely lacking something and had an off taste, like old city water or something. Giving it an extra star though for the salsa. That was tasty and edible. Chips needed some salt. Hats off to the salsa chef. My take on it, If you've never had authentic Mexican food, you'll never know the difference and you should be happy thinking this is. But getting down to the nitty gritty, This is edible and a step up from Taco Time. Expensive but a step up.

Complementary chips with salsa

I'm giving this place a solid five stars for many reasons. The service was absolutely OUTSTANDING period; not one single area needs improvement they are kind and lovely people, every single person I interacted with was a super star. The restaurant was very clean and although I did not go to the restroom, I'm confident everything in there most likely was very clean and nice . The prices were very reasonable I have zero complaints about cost , portions or value for your dollar. The food was brought out very quickly, prepared exactly as ordered, special requests were perfectly executed and the food was piping hot. The plates that said 'Plaza Jalisco' are really charming I loved those . The complementary chips and salsa were fresh. As someone who grew up in Mexico, my family recipes are traditional from the Guadalajara Jalisco region so I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking this is authentic cuisine from my childhood in Mexico. Basically this restaurant leans a little more towards Texas/Mexican/American style food - that's not a bad thing, it's a very good thing . I'm just more used to queso fresco, cilantro, mole, spicy salsa etc. But this was just different for me, but very good. BOTTOM LINE: I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for great tasting quality food with excellent service.

I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. Food was delicious, service was great, prices totally reasonable. Will return.

#10 on a Monday night. Nothing better, expect a margarita to pair with it.

The food had great flavors but the meats were all dry. Good service even though they got a few things wrong. Worth a try.

I wish I took pictures, I live in Vancouver and met my bestie that lives in Puyallup, to catch up…read moreso I wasn't thinking of food pictures. The restaurant is decorated like you're in someone's home in Mexico, it was so cute! It was very busy when we came in They don't have chips and salsa fyi - this joint is incredibly authentic Not a HUGE menu, but decent amount of choices which right away tells me they do what they do well if the menu isn't 8 pages haha We got quick service, there was one woman seating people, taking orders, and closing checks, and she did it well! My friend and I ordered soup (specifically carne en su jugo), which is my FAVORITE SOUP EVER, and I can't ever find it anywhere, and boy oh boy I will drive the 1.5 hours to get it again and again, it was perfect. They provide maximum of 2 ramekins of pickled carrots (cost if you want more, which were amazing) and 1 ramekin of green salsa (charge if you want more - and it's spicy but so good!) 3 crispy chicken tacos 1 mole with refried beans taquito (not rolled) 1 adobado pork sopa 1 adobado pork taco 2 chorizo tacos 1 hibiscus aqua fresca The restaurant doesn't have any music on, which I always appreciate background noise in general, but my friend and I were talking so much and the place was busy I didn't notice too much We planned on meeting monthly in Centralia and will continue to go here to eat, check it out!!!

If you're driving between Seattle and Portland, plan your drive so you can stop here for lunch or…read moredinner. It's a cozy family run joint with super authentic food from the Southwest of Mexico. Service if wonderful and the hosts are very accommodating and pay a lot of attention to make sure you're enjoying your meal. The tamales are great - they're heavier on the outer soft shell than the meat but very tasty - save some of the salsa you get when you are seated to go with this. But the standout for me are the ala carte tacos - the chorizo and the adovado meats are well portioned, superbly cooked, and seasoned to be juicy and flavorful. I'll be back to try a bunch of other menu items on my next road trip!
