The owner was very hospitable and friendly. Knowledgeable and helpful. We were seated promptly and the place was clean. It's a smaller family owned restaurant but don't overlook them! Their food is authentic and delicious. Not over Americanized so there's flavor in every bite. When you try their salsa bar start from the right side! Trust me it's spicier than you think and a lot goes a long way. I had the green enchiladas with their in-house made corn tortillas. Our baby girl had their quesadillas and honestly I'd have been happy eating that too! Definitely recommend. read more

God's gift to Centralia!! I used to come here twice a month when I lived in centralia because once I tried their flautas I was hooked! I've NEVER had bad service here; always efficient and very friendly! I even got a guy I was seeing to drive me an hour to come here on a date cause I missed the bomb food... That's how good it is. He had grown up in the San Diego area and said this was the BEST Mexican food he had had in Washington and it reminded him of the authentic food you get down in So Cal. First time here..received homemade chips to go with the fresh salsa bar. I ordered the Enchiladas Mexicana. After receiving my order and taking a few bites, I noticed that they were made with flour tortilla instead of corn..I let them know about it...and was basically told..."Americans" prefer flour...I don't because it tastes slimy. They remade them for me and they were delicious :-) I thanked them for making it correctly and let them know that I would definately be back. I hope in the future that they don't assume all Americans prefer flour over corn. read more

The owner was extremely friendly and attentive. The service was quick. My fiance grew up in California where he ate Mexican food almost daily and says this is the most authentic Mexican food he has had in Washington State. We drive down to Centralia from Olympia to eat at Restaurante La Mexicana. The salsa bar is a nice touch that you don't find too often and it's made in house! This place is more of a take out restaurant. First no liquor, beer or wine. Did not have cheese dip. The chips weren't good and the salsa too sweet. The food was ok not great. The service person was nice but never came back to the table. I had to go to him for tea refills. He was busy talking to people in the back with him. Hands down the BEST Mexican food ever!! My brother lives in the area and has been telling me about how phenomenal the food is. I was in town and he took me to lunch...OH MY GOODNESS!! So good! Everything is fresh, homemade tortillas and chips and a fresh salsa bar that you take what you want. They have Horchata there and it's to die for! (And in a HUGE glass!!!!) The host/owner was such a nice man! Can't wait to move closer, this will be our "go to place" when we eat out. Taking my husband and son to try it out this Friday since they have the day off. My family and I were excited to have authentic Mexican food but was sadly disappointed. We ordered our drinks 3 Dr Peppers and Chocolate Milk and the waitress came back and said they were out of Dr Pepper so we changed to Pepsi's. Then she brought us white Milk and while we were trying to get her attention another customer came in. So we tried to get her attention and asked her for chocolate milk since that's what we ordered and she said oh let me go check then she came back and said we have some but very little in the meantime we haven't gotten chips and they don't have guacamole. But the other customer got a basket of chips and we sat there. So I just told her this wasn't working out for me and I would pay for the drinks but to cancel our order and we left. Had a craving for Mexican food while driving down I-5 to Portland and Centralia had multiple choices. We stopped at Restaurante La Mexicana because the reviews looked good and we found the food to be full of flavor and filling. I had the trio fajitas which came with pork, beef & chicken, all very tender and plenty of peppers, onions and tomatoes mixed in. My fiancée had the trio enchiladas, which offered three different enchiladas, her favorite was the mole. The salsa bar offered a variety, but beware if you're not into extra hot spicy as some of these will leave a nice burn on your tongue. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the room is pretty basic and not flashy, we almost thought that they were closed. But looks can be deceiving and this place has really good food. The only reason that I give it three rather than four stars is because we usually prefer corn tortillas instead of flour. The menu is not very large, and we didn't see corn tortillas as an option. We would have liked a combination plate on the menu, as I always love chile rellenos, but was completely happy with what we did order. don't let the limitations keep you away, though.
