They were so lovely to work with, and made us feel so taken care of and loved! (My favorite moment was coordinating a blind-folded Peter to make his way across the Chateau so I could do his hair in the bridal suite. It was hysterical and so very meaningful!). Bryant, our Maître d', was a class act; I must have hugged him 35 times throughout the night because of how smoothly he ran the very detailed logistics of our big day. We were invited to an affiliated event there and I was so excited and eager to experience the atmosphere and the dining options there. Knowing how explicit this venue is the cocktail hour was nothing special and in fact was lacking a lot of the options that you get to sample at other venues. The bar had all top notch liquor but the bartenders were not offering any exquisite cocktails The food was mediocre and honestly it needed more seasoning. The dessert however was delicious. The service was exceptional during the entire wedding and reception. The food from the beginning to the end was amazing. The only thing I found that made no sense from a venue like this was the stay. There was absolutely no one to tell you where to go to check in. We asked 3 different people that sent us to 3 different places. Finally we found the hotel part of the entrance where we met such great workers who assisted us. The parking seemed like a mile away and with luggage you can only imagine the steps we had to take! The rooms were tiny and old! Not worth the almost $400 we spent to stay there. Should have stayed at the Marriott! Anyway the reception and food was wonderful, just don't stay there! read more

If it was possible to give more than five stars, we would do so for the Pleasantdale Château. The grounds are gorgeous and make you feel like you're at a European castle. There were so many unique photo areas that we had a hard time choosing where to do our first look, opting with the European alleyway. We were more impressed with the Pleasantdale Chateau with every meeting we went to. Fred will tell you that they pride themselves on making every event special, and that is truly the case. They are so organized and we felt like royalty as the bride and groom on our wedding day. When there was something we wanted, it was there before we even had the chance to ask for it. My husband was looking for iced coffee at brunch the morning after our wedding and without even asking, one of the waiters appeared with it for him because we had told them at one meeting months earlier that he needs his iced coffee first thing in the morning. Lizbeth, my bridal attendant, was beyond perfect. She always had everything I needed with her. She was also so helpful whenever my bridesmaids, mother, and mother-in-law needed anything. She also took incredible pictures throughout wedding day that she shared with me the next morning. Our food was absolutely incredible. We were having so much fun that we regret not eating more. Our guests still cannot stop talking about our food. The beggar purse pear pasta, homemade mozzerella cheese, and lamb chops were favorites of many. Santiago and Fred made sure that some of our favorite desserts were at the wedding as well, including cotton candy ice cream and a pistachio ice cream sandwich. Both the cold and warm passed desserts were amazing. Santiago also made sure to save some dessert for our nephews who went to bed early and really wanted some! They were thrilled when they woke up in the morning. Santiago also helped us to design the most beautiful and delicious cake! Give this venue all the stars! This old mansion is gorgeous. For those in the bridal party, you might be able to stay in rooms at the petite chateau on the grounds. The rooms there are a bit plainer but offer spacious bathrooms with a walk in shower. The food was outrageously good. My personal highlight was the fantastic sushi. I was stuffed after cocktail hour! This place is STUNNING! The staff are absolutely lovely and can't do enough for you! The food - absolutely incredible! I was one happy guest two weeks ago attending a friend's wedding here, and MAN - they really had a picture perfect day here and didn't want for anything! The Chateau is plucked right from a fairy tale, and gives you a sense of romance, class, and luxury all at the same time. Their grounds are the perfect backdrop for wedding photos, and our friend did their ceremony on the lawn, and it was magical. Cocktail hour here was the GREATEST I've ever experienced at a wedding. I'm talking SUSHI; antipasto; carving stations; top shelf liquor; all kinds of bread and rolls; pastas...oh gosh the purse pasta was INSANE! Every bite was better than the next, and dinner was nothing to sneeze at either! I opted for the chicken and my husband got the braised short ribs; 10/10 on both and the vegetables were fresh - no frozen ingredients here! With that being said, I cannot say enough good things about Fred and his team at Pleasantdale, they had every detail ironed out and thought about so everything was incredibly seamless (especially when I needed new suspenders 20 minutes before getting ready and someone from the team went out to buy me new suspenders). The food was unbelievable (still upset I didn't get to try everything at the cocktail hour), but from the sushi to the 28 day aged steak to the beggar's purses (absolutely unreal), everything was so good and incredibly fresh. The dinner meals were fantastic (chicken, short rib or branzino), so flavorful, which you don't always get a weddings, which I think really sets Pleasantdale apart from many other wedding venues out there. The only way to describe Fred Fogg, the Director of Sales and Catering, is to say that he over promises AND overdelivers! Fred was an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish. The best wedding ever happened on June 16 at the Pleasantdale Chateau. The moment the bride arrives in the morning to the cocktail hour, to the reception, to the after hour party to the breakfast. The moment the guests arrive they are greeted by a wonderful staff. The guest begin with the best food at cocktail hour and everything the guest ate was wonderful. Throughout the night everyone raved about the food, the venue and the staff. From the moment we booked the Pleasant dale Chateau we were told we would be disappointed and no-one was disappointed. We were told by the guests best wedding ever. Best food they have had at a wedding. I highly recommend booking your event at the Chateau you will not be disappointed. The interior is pretty and a great venue spot for multiple types of occasions and /or meetings. beautiful grounds for an outside wedding. We weren't as lucky with the weather, but we were able to fit 400+ people inside for a wedding! read more

Went for a friends wedding. This venue was ridiculous. Definitely one to remember! The wedding happened at the beginning of covid so quite a few people didn't show up. I probably would have taken more photos if the atmosphere wasn't so awkward. I sort of regret not photographing the cocktail hour - it was insane. The ceremony was cute and in a big elegant hall. Then cocktail hour was filled with stations in the hallway and in a separate room. Pasta, pinwheels, seafood (oysters, crab, shrimp and more), suckling pig, roasted meats, cheeses and charcuterie, you name it. Then came the sit down dinner. Blue cheese wedge salad, I got salmon, and brownie. My husband's steak was great too. Plus wedding cake of course. And all the gin and tonics. I literally threw up on the way home, too much good food to hold down! I have never eaten like that in my life! They need a vomitorium. read more

I had anticipated some hiccups, but they were on the ball the entire day - from the moment we walked in to the next morning when we left. I feel like a piece of my heart will always be there. TL;DR - this place is amazing. The personnel, food, and ambiance is top notch. They take pride in their work. I cannot say enough good things about PDC. I had my wedding there in 2024. The venue itself is gorgeous, which you can plainly see from the photos. What you can't see is how fantastic the food tastes, and how good the venue's staff are at preparing for and running an event. Starting with the food - it's great. Everything from the appetizers to the after-party food was on point, and many of our guests specifically told us how good the food was. And yes, I know everyone who throws an event hears this sort of compliment all the time, but I heard it from those cranky relatives that never say anything nice. PDC also has a wide array of great food, so you shouldn't have any problem finding something that fits your taste. Moving on to the staff - this is really where PDC shines. Fred, Santiago, Bryant, Jennifer, Dawn, Michelle, and Jessica were all amazing, and I'm sure I am missing others. From the first tour I went on of the venue, to everything needed to prepare for the event, to the execution of everything we had planned, PDC and their staff were fantastic in all ways. Every person working my event knew what to do, when to do it, and how to do it, really well. That sounds simple, but when your event is 8 hours long, it really makes a big difference when the staff knows what they are doing. They are an integral part of your event, and the staff at PDC knew how to carry themselves, how to treat the guests, and how to do just an overall great job, which made it so much easier for me to actually enjoy my wedding. Lastly, it's worth noting that the staff not only run a great operation, but they were also really great to work with. Planning a big event is not easy, and it makes an enormous difference when you get to work with really nice and very competent people. We had our wedding at Pleasantdale Chateau exactly a week ago 7/5/25 and it was truly a dream come true. From start to finish, the service was absolutely top notch--every single staff member went above and beyond to make our day seamless and special. Santiago, Fred, Dawn, and Marta were all incredible to work with throughout the planning process--so helpful, responsive, and professional every step of the way. Our bridal attendant, Emily, was amazing--so kind and attentive. The food was outstanding and the grounds are absolutely breathtaking. I had a wedding on 11/18/2023. The staff was very attentive, and I felt I was the queen of the day. Michelle, Tori, and Andrea were very friendly and attentive. We are a Korean couple with most Korean guests, and Michelle could speak Korean fluently to our guests, which is a huge plus. Everything: atmosphere, food, alcohol selections, decoration, rooms, and breakfast were just beyond above. Food: Our guests were still complimented about our food that day. The chef is very talented and detailed. Ice sculptures were also gorgeous. Fred, Santiago, Bryants, and Lars were the most excellent managers who took care of us. I attended a wedding Thursday evening (5/25 and the venue, food, service and overall presentation makes for a memorable event be it a wedding or some other special evening or occasion. The grounds of the facility are immaculate in every way as the ceremony was held outside on these pristine grounds on a spectacular spring evening. We then entered the facility for a cocktail hour of cocktail hours as there was every conceivable offering from fruits and salads to carving stations, cheese stations, pasta classics and so much more including a colossal shrimp station that was outstanding. Literally every choice was amazing! The band was festive and did an excellent job and my dinner choice was the Bronzini prepared to perfection! The presentation and staff was white glove and French service as the ballroom was spectacular and a truly special place in the heart of Essex County. If your budget is virtually unlimited, the Pleasantdale Chateau needs to be on your bucket list. It is expert in delivering a memorable wedding experience for the guest as well as groom and bride. The Pleasantdale Chateau is a must visit and I urge any potential bride to make your journey to this unique and compelling place to say "I do." HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more
