Employers have long thrown office holiday parties as a way to show their appreciation for their employees' hard work and strengthen relationships in the workplace. But the office holiday party as we know it is thought to have been born in Victorian England. Located off of Pompton Avenue in Cedar Grove, I attended my partner's annual office Christmas party last night, hosted at Il Tulipano, translated from Italian to mean "the tulip." Upon arrival to their 2-story floor-to-ceiling glass-enclosed foyer, we were greeted by the host, decked out in holiday colors, with the main focus on a huge Christmas tree and life-size Santa. Our venue was on the first floor with views of the bar and banquet room leading out to a breathtaking outdoor piazza for wedding ceremonies. Cocktail hour began with buffet-style hot and cold appetizers with a craving station featuring salmon and pork loin wrapped in bacon. For our main meal, there was a choice of chicken, beef, and salmon, accompanied by carrots and asparagus that were cooked to perfection and super fluffy mashed potatoes. All the food on our carefully selected menu is cooked to perfection. To end the night, a dessert dish of mini samplers with the decorated Christmas tree was offered. For entertainment, a DJ was hired for dancing. Fake money was given out to guests for pleasure to bet on some casino table games (craps, roulette, and blackjack) to win prizes such as an Apple Watch, several wine baskets, and the grand prize, a 55" smart TV. Every single staff member worked like a fine-oiled machine, producing a high-quality experience. It was truly an unforgettable experience for us. Thank you, Royal Packaging!

I simply cannot say enough in praise of il Tulipano. In July 2024 we held our wedding, and we could not have asked or prayed for better than what we were given! We first met Chef Mario in early 2023 while we were researching venues and cost. We toured approximately 8 -10 venues, and we corresponded with several venues online. But our hearts and minds could not stop thinking about il Tulipano. We were in love with Chef Mario's passion for what he does and infectious personality. He truly is the best! Not only was the venue a great price, but we felt honored to be a part of the il Tulipano family! We couldn't have chosen a better venue for our wedding! The setting was stunning, the food incredibly delicious, and the team went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect! Our guest was blown away at how beautiful everything was. Chef Mario and his staff never hesitated to provide guidance, help and support before and during our wedding. Appetizers were so good that they were mistaken for the dinner but were surpassed by the actual main entree. The dessert room was the showstopper! Staff that treated us like family-Joellen, Mike, and Sunday were unbeatable!--and the warmth of Chef Mario made all the difference in an event that shone from the top management down to everyone involved in making our day so special, memorable, and beautiful. If you're looking for a dream venue that delivers on ambience, service, cost and a personal touch, look no further! il Tulipano is bound to impress you and your guests. The most remarkable moment in life is when you meet the person who makes you complete. Thank you, Chef Mario, and il Tulipano!!

My husband and I had our wedding here 03/18/22 and everything was amazing! Carlos was very helpful up until last minute arrangements with our remembrance table and updated guest list. Guests are still raving about the great food, especially how amazing and plentiful cocktail hour was! Raves included everything from the squid salad to the delicious duck. Carlos and his team were very accommodating to our vendors. Guests were being attended to very closely by staff during dinner. Sunday was an amazing bridal attendant and was very helpful with selecting food for me and my husband and assisting us. Everyone at our wedding had a fantastic time! Our day went by so smoothly

The bathroom :) forgot to mention the sinks are beyond beautiful, they take me back to Italia

A solid 4 stars. Attended a wedding here and was quite impressed. Been to many venues in NJ and if my memory serves me right there wasn't a buffet styled reception which I went back for seconds. The entrees included but weren't limited to stewed beef, calamari, pasta, tomato scallops and tea neck clams! Needless to say, I enjoyed my meal. It wasnt fancy schmancy but for NJ it was good. This is my first time here and I thought it was great. Not sure if this place is open to public or events only. Be sure to check ahead of time.

Really nice wedding venue and food was good compared to other banquet hall meals where the food can be compared to airplane food.

I proceeded to check the place out and decided to approach the bar. I ordered a drink and apparently the bartender made the wrong type of drink. I then waited there for about 12 minutes to try to get a hold of the waitress. Finally when she saw that I was trying to get a hold of her she asked me what I wanted and I explained to her my problem. She stated that it wasn't her problem and that I would have to pay for a new drink. Meanwhile the drink was right in front of me untouched and she still want me to buy another drink. I personally have never in my life had this type of experience. I asked her if I would be able to speak to the manager. The manager on duty was behind the bar. I was told that he would talk to me when he had a chance. He actually never came over to introduce himself. He ac never came over at all. I spent the rest of my night which was only another hour giving the place a second chance. No manager ever came by and left the worst taste in my mouth. I would never go to this place again. Any type of new business that can care less about the customer experience does not deserve my business or anyones for that matter. I will continue giving my business to other places that actually appreciate my presence and have customer loyalty.

I had my back to the bar, but from what I was able to see this is a very cozy place. Service was quick and attentive, and we did not feel rushed and were able to enjoy a pleasant time chatting. Drinks: the black walnut Manhattan, Fig jam old fashioned, wine , beer and port. Drinks were all excellent, i tasted the Manhattan and enjoyed it over the Fig Jam. For apps: Clams oreganato (the couple with us enjoyed this), flat bread (was much more like pizza than flat bread, but still tasty, per my husband), and on the special New England Clam Chowder which was very good, not too thick and decent and fresh clams in it. Entrees: Shrimp Risotto scampi, very flavorful Risotto cooked perfectly. Two of us ordered the Cajun Mahi Mahi, over spinach with mashed, and 2 shrimp. the Cajun sauce was tasty with the perfect amount of heat, shrimp and mahi-mahi fresh and cooked perfectly. Rigatoni Bolognese which my husband enjoyed and said it was almost as good as my Italian mother's (like a good son-in-law) lol Dessert: Crème Brûlée - Brûlée was perfect, the crème was a little too thick for me. I ate it and enjoyed it, but not the best I've had. My husband ordered the key Lime Pie happy that it did not include nuts in the crust as some do, he thought it was good. Overall we had an enjoyable albeit pricy meal with good service. I would come back if other's wanted to go but it would not be my go to place.

He immediately started barking at us about how we had made a reservation for four adults and one child, and that we would have to pay full price for the fourth adult which was $80 who did not show up. When we were seated, I had already apologized to the server that the fourth person could not make it, and the server -- who had otherwise been wonderful -- politely told us it was fine. I really thought this won't be a big deal like other establishments that are even more high end. I later learned that the individual's name was Tom. Describing his behavior as merely rude would be an understatement; his conduct was obnoxious, unprofessional, and unnecessarily aggressive. First, being charged the full $80 price for a guest who did not attend was extremely shocking and disappointing. More concerning, however, was the manner in which Tom approached and addressed us. In all my years of dining out, I have never experienced such poor service or such an inappropriate attitude from restaurant staff. Although I was eventually provided with containers to pack some food to take home, the entire experience left me feeling deeply insulted and completely ruined what was meant to be a special Mother's Day dinner. This Tom, who I was told aa a manger lacks a professionalism to be a qualified one. He needs a major attitude change.

Before heading over, we were actually about to buy tickets online since we saw there were still open time slots available on the website. Because we were so close by, we decided to just purchase in person instead. When we arrived, we were told they were completely sold out. I said, "I would just go ahead and book it online instead. Thank you." At that point, it felt like she just didn't want to help us purchase a time slot but rather a membership for whatever reason. What was most frustrating was having to step aside and purchase the tickets online ourselves when the associate could have easily assisted us at the register. It felt unnecessary and inconvenient. Jason, our coordinator, was incredible. He was always communicative, clear, and available to answer any questions we had, no matter how small. He truly made the planning process feel easy and stress-free. On the day of the wedding, the matrades d', Adriana and Jaylene, were absolute superstars. They were by my side the entire time, making sure I was where I needed to be and that everything ran smoothly. I truly couldn't have asked for a better team. The food was phenomenal--people are *still* talking about it! So many guests told us this was one of the best weddings they've ever been to, and the food played a huge part in that. There was so much food that people didn't even realize there was more coming. The dessert table was absolutely amazing, and everything looked beautiful and tasted even better. The pizza during cocktail hour was such a fun and appreciated touch. The entire day ran seamlessly. Ever since I've been in search of a wedding venue of my own, I've been recalling my past…read moreexperiences at other venues I've attended weddings at. Most recently was The Grand over this past summer. Pros of The Grand: It's truly a beautiful space. If you're in search of a traditional ballroom feel, you'll love this one. The outdoor ceremony area & indoor areas are classy and elegant. The cocktail hour was definitely the star of the show here - food was amazing and had a wide variety of cuisines available. Love the option of an outdoor pizza oven at cocktail hour - so unique! This venue is also well priced, offering great options in the NYC/NJ area. Cons of The Grand: From my experience attending a wedding here, I hated the fact that multiple events are hosted at once. Sure, the venue will tell you that the events are staggered so there's no opportunity for the two guests to overlap, but that is completely false. Upon entering the main lobby area where our couple had a champagne welcome, there were stairs that led right to another ballroom/event. Guests from the other event were running rampant up and down those stairs and throughout the entryway where the champagne welcome was, almost to the point where staff was pushing our party out of the room in hopes of avoidance. Cocktail hour for our party was in a separate area of the venue, leading guests to go outside in the courtyard and up some stairs to locate it on their own. The organization overall was just confusing. There was a raw bar present at this wedding I went to, and some of the seafood presented wasn't good (slimy, smelling funky) leading us to avoid it. The outdoor pizza oven that I mentioned being a great feature -- almost no guests knew it existed since it was outside on the balcony and the entirety of cocktail hour was indoors with closed doors, which was a shame since the pizza was delicious. The main reception dinner was lacking, with almost everyone at our table's meals overcooked and inedible. The staff were visibly exhausted as well, with the day being pretty hot in the peak of summer and the maître d' refusing to increase the air conditioning, even with multiple guests and staff begging. We as guests were hot, making us feel terrible for the staff who are forced to wear long button down attire with coats over it to keep up the visual appeal. After speaking with a few staff members (busboys, waiters, bartenders) this seems to be the norm for this venue. This wedding was beautiful and such a good time due to good company, but definitely keep these things in mind when searching for a wedding venue of your own!
