I am so happy I found Pleasanton Computer Repair! I have an Acer laptop, and it was not charging. The computer is only a year old, so of course I was disappointed. I went to another repair shop who mentioned they don't work on Acers and there are very few shops that do. They did tell me to check with Pleasanton Computer Repair though. Thank goodness I did! They were able to repair my computer for a lot less than I anticipated and finished the project quickly. My computer is working great, and Gabe even sent me a follow up email 2 weeks after he fixed my computer to check in and see if everything was working well. Last November, my kid accidentally spilled water on his laptop. We wanted to know if it could be fixed quickly because he takes many online classes. It is a high-end LG laptop. Pleasanton Computer Repair is close by, so we took the computer there after speaking with them briefly on the phone. They said they will let us know in a week's time whether the computer can be repaired or not, and there are fees for diagnosing the problem. Unfortunately, a week later, no one called back. We called after a week, and they said, "Sorry, it would take a little bit longer to know whether they can get those parts." Again, nothing happened until we called about 15 days later (in the meantime, I got a cheap laptop online for my son as a replacement). These days, the kids have to rely on technology for all their schoolwork. We continued to wait and call from our side. They apologized for the delay but never followed up proactively to determine the cause of the problem. Eventually, they found the source of all the trouble and said they would order the parts from LG. Meanwhile, we had a family emergency and left the country for 15 days. Came back and still there, we have no updates on whether parts were available or not. By this time, we had given up on the computer. Then we get a call from them saying that LG does not make the parts anymore. So, finally, this place informed us two months later that nothing could be done to save our laptop. Seriously guys? You charge upfront to diagnose the issues, and we paid -- at least you should feel the moral obligation to tell the truth at the end of the long wait. Then we called LG and felt like idiots for not doing that first--LG people were surprised and confirmed that they never stop making parts. Two days later, we shipped the laptop to LG, and it was returned in a week, fully restored. I look at all these reviews and think -- either nothing major was wrong with their computers, or I can't trust Yelp anymore! read more

Had an old (Win8.1 upgraded to Win10) HP tower on its last legs. Dell Laptop needed more memory. Needed connectors to use my old keyboard and monitor with laptop while the tower was laid to rest. Pleasanton Computer provided connectors, installed more memory in the laptop, sold me a rebuilt mini-computer to replace the tower, transferred all my programs and data (even the junk files - I asked for that), did it all in a couple of days and I could even afford it all - and I'm a retired Senior. They were very friendly, knowledgeable, and able to communicate the gory details clearly and professionally. New mini-comp is many times more powerful, Internet zips along, I got rid of much of the junk files myself, and am One Happy Camper; gladly recommend PCR to any and all. read more

I got on my computer last Friday and found my laptop said it only had 2% battery. I called and spoke with KC whom told me to come in and drop my laptop off to change the motherboard with a $75 deposit that could end up running me $300 as I had an issue with an IT lockout. Mind you when I did speak with him, he told me he's the most experienced tech there and the girl that worked there is a low grade tech. So I took my laptop in and dropped it off to I believe her name was Ingrid which I might be mistaken. She told me she would give it to KC to fix. Just a couple hours after dropping it off she calls me and says I did the diagnostic and I see that you're not getting power on the laptop (which I have no power issues, the laptop turned on fine for me the night before) and wanted to continue to give me a quote on repair a non existent problem. She had no idea why I dropped it off, what the issue was instead wanted to lie about it not having power to just make some money. Also when I dropped the laptop off originally she tried to charge me $150 for the diagnostic when originally KC told me $75. After I called her out and told her there is no issues with the laptop turning on and getting power she said "oh it might be because I used a universal charger" she started to go back on her word and realized I caught her lying. I explained why I brought it in and who it needed to go to instead she lied and tried to cheat me out of money. Bottom line is, go somewhere else. Somewhere honest! During the pandemic, my phone screen cracked twice and Apple store was not open... I thought I had to live with it until 2021 at least but I found Pleasanton Computer Repair! They are very responsive with questions and quotes on repairs. Gabe was understanding and got me set up on an appointment right away. For an iPhone back glass repair, it took about 4 hours and was ready for pick up. My mom also have an iMac that just suddenly stopped working for her for no reason... they needed to reboot it and that took 1 week - not bad. Mohamed is the best! Went to him months ago to fix my destroyed IPhone screen and add a screen protector and phone protector which is pretty with the bling and butterfly. Came back today to get my husband's Samsung screen replaced plus protector which he fixed in a reasonable amount of time while i looked for another phone protector which he ended up locating the right size and color I wanted. I really appreciated my experience w/ Pleasanton Computer Repair. They were fairly responsive, and it was easy to schedule an appointment. Furthermore, their office location is not only convenient, but also pleasant, prices reasonable and service excellent. In my case I was wiping several laptops, and they not only did so w/ certification, but also include e-waste services for those electronic items that one is looking to dispose of. I spilled coffee (a lot) on my laptop keyboard this morning, days before a 2-week business trip where I need to bring it with me. I turned it upside down to drained it as much as I could, then called Pleasanton Computer repair as soon as they opened, (by now it's been 90 minutes since the spill, and the touchpad had stopped working). KC said to bring it in, the sooner the better, as coffee contains certain elements that can cause corrosion. Ugh. Forty minutes later I handed the laptop over to KC, who said he'd call me with an update, and that I have to leave there for a couple of days. Four hours later, he called and said he'd taken the whole thing apart, dried it, cleaned it, and got the touchpad working...and it was good to go. (He didn't promise there wouldn't be future complications, but was pretty confident there shouldn't be). I'm already back home working. So happy, so grateful. Thank you KC!!! read more

I took him two weeks and he still never got it to work and also made it much worse than it already was. I had problems with my desktop computer. After I rebooted the computer I could not open Excel and Word application anymore. Based on a recommendation from a good friend of our I called up a guy in Dublin. (See separate review). After almost two weeks the guy didn't fix the problem. I Googled and found Pleasanton Computer Repair. I called them on Thursday. I made an appointment for Monday. I brought the computer to them on Monday morning. In the afternoon I received a call from a technician and the problem was solved. I picked up the computer again on Tuesday (24 hours after drop off). Very happy with their service. Very responsive. This is a great and professional company. My student nurse laptop broke at the worst time during my vacation. I brought it to geek squad, they wouldn't even see me without an appointment so I was upset and remembered these guys. I walked in and asked the kind front desk lady Carla if they could see what is wrong with my computer. She gladly accepted and took my computer in and they called me within 3-5 days saying it needed to be seen by their lab but they had an idea what was wrong. Although I dropped my laptop off at the start of July and just got it back now (due to internal issues with the lab but totally understandable once they explained to me what happened!), my laptop is running like brand new. During the time they called in, checked in with me, and were VERY reasonable with the price. Being a downtown business, I assumed I was in trouble because of the location and the price was probably gonna be outrageous but it was reasonable for a student like me. Working with Pleasanton Computer Repair was great! I took my work laptop in with a partially cracked screen. Roughly 1/2 of the screen was still visible/useable when I dropped it off. The replacement screen seems to work perfectly. Karla, Gabe, and Ryan were all friendly, professional, and provided 5-star service. Once they had the replacement screen in stock*, I feel like they made a great effort to keep their turnaround time as fast as possible and I only had to take a couple hours off work while they did the repairs (dropped off at 5PM Tues, picked up at 9:30AM the next day). Lastly, I find the online ticket system they use clean and helpful. If I have computer issues in the future, this shop will be my go-to. *Note: This is NOT a complaint, but I do see one (1) small opportunity for improvement in hindsight: I wish they had made more of an effort to confirm beforehand what model of replacement screen was needed for my laptop so they could check if they had the replacement screen in stock. During the quote process and before I dropped the laptop off the first time, I was advised that they would have to physically take the laptop apart to confirm what model of replacement screen was needed and therefore confirm if they had the replacement part in-stock or would need to order it. "Ok, no biggie. If that's how it is, that's how it is," I thought. However, after dropping it off, I was advised that since the laptop screen was not fully cracked through, they could confirm the screen model without taking it apart by logging into the laptop to confirm the resolution info. I gave them my login info, they checked, and it turned out that they didn't have the required replacement screen in stock and had to order it. This wasn't a big deal, but required me to make a couple extra trips to their shop (extra drop off, extra pick-up) so I could use my laptop while the replacement part was on order. I feel like the two extra trips could have been avoided by asking me to log in from home and confirm the resolution info they needed in advance. With presumably varying degrees of tech-savviness among their customers, it may be they don't normally ask us to do that kind of stuff, but saving the extra trips would have been a nice touch. Again, this isn't a complaint or even enough to knock this down to a 4-star review, just some possible room for improvement, in my opinion. read more

Very professional work and ethics. My PC just refused to turn on. I took it in on a Monday afternoon and KC signed me in and sent me a full diagnosis in a couple of days. Besides the power supply fubar they also verified that the boot drive is only 8% health. Two days after I got my PC back with new SSD and power supply. They have a good ticketing system that provides the elaboration of the diagnosis and updates on the repair. Very frictionless and very methodical. Great service. My 7-year-old laptop finally kicked the bucket for good after many near-death experiences. I decided to get a new laptop but save the old hard drive. I asked Pleasanton Computer Repair if they could first check the hard drive to make sure there were no physical/electrical issues and the data was uncorrupted, and if the hard drive was fine, just move it into an external case for me. If the data was corrupted, I requested that they attempt to recover it. Brought the laptop in, got an email 2 days later that it was ready to pick up. Data was fine, hard drive was in an external case, brought it home & plugged it into my new computer and it worked just fine. When I came in, I was told that there was either an issue with the battery or the motherboard. I paid 150 dollars for an "advanced diagnosis". 150 dollars and 2 days later they had come to the conclusion that the problem was either the battery or the motherboard. They then suggested I buy another battery to diagnose the problem myself. Staff were polite, but they took my money without making any headway into the problem. If there's an issue that can't be solved by restarting the computer, I don't recommend them. read more

My iPhone 12 was stuck on the Apple logo, Apple store told me I'd need to do a full restore which would wipe my data, or go somewhere and try to recover the data first. KC was basically able to fix why my phone was not rebooting, and was able to get my phone up and running. I had all my data, and did not need to do a full restore. Their price was very reasonable. While he did not have to do a full data recovery, I had called some of those places (since this is what Apple told me I would need to do if I didn't want to lose my data) and they are VERY expensive, so I'm definitely glad I didn't have to go that route.
