I brought my Lenovo Yoga C laptop (5 years old) to QES to diagnose a failure to restart. I was told the initial diagnosis would be $60. They determined that the motherboard had failed and the hard drive was corrupted. They recommended getting a new laptop versus repairing the existing unit. We talked about recovering the data from the hard drive which would have been fairly costly. Fortunately, my new laptop was able to retrieve my data from the cloud. When I returned to QES to pick up my dead Lenovo, they billed me only the $60 diagnosis charge when they easily could have charged much more for effort to recover data. I give the guys at QES top rating for their honesty through the whole process. read more

Solid local place to have your computer worked on. I prefer them than what's at a big box store and their pricing felt fairer. My laptop of all things had bearings loose and in need to a fan. They worked with me as part orders had to happen but I needed it to work in the interim. Then once my parts were in they were responsive to get the repair done. They were also good to suggest my next computer. Explanations were clear and made sense. read more

I left my laptop there for a couple of hours while he worked on it and he reviewed my issues and researched some options on repairing it. I will be back when I can spare my laptop for a couple hours. I have an old computer that I built 10 years ago (cutting edge components at the time) which was getting long in the tooth, so I built a new one. While in the process of backing up the old computer, I restarted it and it would boot up bios but the screen went blank afterwards (typical luck on my end). After exhausting my diagnosing skills, I brought the tower to QES. I was told up front it would be $60 for a diagnosis. That seemed like a fair charge. After all, time is money. I gave them both my home and cell phone #'s and left. Fast forward a month later, I received no calls but had business to attend to in that area so I stopped by. When I inquired about the tower and mentioned it had been a month since bringing it in, he quickly and anxiously said it was finished for quite some and had repeatedly called both phone numbers numerous times. I re-confirmed both phone numbers for their accuracy on the write-up sheet. Red Flag #1 When I asked what the problems is, and if it was a virus, he got a bit nervous and didn't immediately answer my question. Red Flag #2 The problem was a bad DVI connector on the graphics card but informed the VGA connector worked fine and proceeded to show me by booting up the computer a few times. Sounds fair. The bills comes to a total of $120. What? I have no problem with initial $60 but where's this additional $60 coming from? Red Flag #3. So, they charged me a total of $120 just to inform me the DVI connector was toast, did NOT call either phone # (phone numbers confirmed), never left any messages (I check them frequently), and then charged me an additional $60 without my consent for???? I just paid the damn bill and left. I have used them once in the past (my info was still in their system) and their work seemed honest and fair, but not this time around. Do not recommend! read more

I used QES for 10+ years until I was going through a divorce. They got in the middle notifying my X about my business computer. They lied to me and said it was recycled after 60 days then miraculously found it. They said I could pick it up as repairs were paid for but refused to give it to me without a letter from my attorney. After bringing the letter they still refused. Police had to get involved to get MY computer back. Would not trust them with my personal or business data ever again!! read more

Really disappointed with the customer service here. Was told upfront before anything was done that I would be charged $60, but no more than $100. I gave the man working there a usb to export my pictures ONLY onto the port. When the work was finished I was charged for a new usb and for taking other documents and music off the computer. When we looked back on the receipt "pictures only" was clearly boldly written and underlined. I also made it clear that if the usb needed to be larger to contact me. I was charged over $100 more than he originally told me! Will never return here and feel completely ripped off! read more

They sort of know their stuff. Their office is a mess. They're chinese (as am I), and I know they over-priced the equipment they were selling me. $30 + tax for two 6-pin PCIe power extension cables no longer than 5 inches? Rip off. $80+ for an initial diagnosis? Rip off. TCS Computer repair in Dublin does FREE diagnostics. Their facility is a lot cleaner, they are super honest, and they are really good at keeping you up to date on the status/progress of your computer/equipment. read more

I have been going to QES for at least 10 years. They have always been able to fix the problem, be it hardware or software. Recently had them remove Windows 8 that I put on one of my computers (a big mistake, Windows 8 is awful.) After calling Microsoft several times, finally took it to QES who took off Windows 8 and installed my Windows 7 OS. All for $60. Yes, sometimes, some things are not fixable but why grudge them their service fee for spending the time to figure out, as one customer seems to be doing. I have been happy with their work over places such as BestBuy, Office Depot etc. and will probably continue to go there. read more

This is a very good store to know for network engineers, they source parts quickly, are competitive on prices and will do whatever it takes to get the job done. I've been dealing with Qes almost since they opened. I used to buy all my computer stuff from them to build my own computers. I was born and raised in Pleasanton and lived there for 52 years until I retired in 2012 and moved to Reno, NV. I tried to get a computer built here in Reno and they never called me back so I called Lawrence and in less than a week my wife has a new smokin fast tower. Our laptop died while on vacation and my new tower showed up 2 hrs the day I got home and then they fixed my laptop I'd bought from them in 2007. What you can't beat is the excellent customer service. I something happens I mail it back and it gets fixed promptly. My dad even buys from them now just because of their excellent service. LOVE this place! Lawrence was especially helpful. Got HP laptop at Best Buy and it stopped working 2 days after warrantee expired. Of course. Geek Squad was useless! Even when we said we knew we'd have to pay full price. They thought screen would have to be replaced (which tends to not be cost effective and you just buy a new laptop). Lawrence at QES investigated for a few days ... reported they found the source to just be loose connections. They tightened them all up, double checked everything else and we were "cured" for $100 in diagnostics and repairs! Awesome! read more

NOT happy with this place! Will not use again. They just charged me $60.00 to tell me my daughter's laptop needed a new AC adapter/power cord, then tried to tell me they would order one for $79.95! I complained about the ridiculous $60 so called diagnostic fee, and felt they should waive that, but they would not. I just ordered the ac adapter/power cord on amazon for $6.95. What a waste of $60.00. I guess they took advantage of a young blonde!! Way to go boys you should feel proud of yourselves..... Horrible read more

Worst computer place ever! I went into QES because my girlfriends computer kept turning off when it got really cold. They said there would be an $80 diagnostic fee to take a look at it and that it would credit towards a repair if they could repair it. They said it would take 3-4 days to have a diagnostic. A week goes by and no call. I finally decide to call them and they tell me that her laptop needs more cooling packs. I found that a little strange since it turned off when it was COLD! So after the supposed repair we get the laptop back and it's still doing the samething thing and it starts running slower then it did before. At this point I was a little heated and went back and told them to look at it again. I wait another 3 days and they say, it's low on memory and that it needs the memory upgraded thats why its running slow and keeps turning off and it would cost and additional $80 to upgrade the memory. My girlfriend said just do it So I said ok. We get it back and lwo and behold it's still doing the samething and it runs slower then it did before. After that I did not want to waste any more of my time with them. WORST SERVICE EVER!!!! read more

I had tried to save money fixing my server myself but wasn't able to find what I needed. They beat the internet pricing for components that I had found shopping online. Their labor charges were reasonable for the amount of work they did. After they fixed the server and I was setting it up the fan sounded loud. I took it in and they told me that the fan didn't need to be replaced. This relieved my concerns and they didn't charge me for providing that service. read more

I worked with Lawrence, bringing in my computer because it was sooo slow we could barely even use it. Thought it had a major virus, but he diagnosed it as just needing a memory upgrade - whew! Installed 4gb and it runs faster than when I first got it. Extremely reasonable on his rate and the cost of the parts. I would rate his knowledge as 5 star along with the service and pricing.
