I was taking 3200 mg Ibuprofen per day since the surgery. A week later, went in for follow up, and found I had an infection. Got an antibiotic and started feeling better a couple days later. So, for about 15 days I was in pain, and could barely eat! If it weren't for his staff (which as very nice, empathetic, and tried to make me feel better) this would be a 1-Star review.

After talking to my husband for other options, he remembered his own experience he had with Tri-Valley Endodontics office here in Pleasanton, he had nothing, but positive feedbacks and suggested I get a referral for this particular Endodontist office from our regular dentist and so here I am. Just like my husband, I have nothing, but positive outcome/feedback as well. In my case, .. about 20 yrs ago, the questioned tooth went through a root canal treatment + crown. From then to now, bacteria managed to slip through which caused painful toothache (sharp pain followed by throbbing) when I ate soup (broth). I right away called Tri-Valley Endodontics office after seeing my regular dentist. Nothing showed up on their X-rays. When tapping on several teeth, the pain always came from the questioned tooth. The front desk scheduled me in for an early appt, which during this phone call I learned Tri-Valley Endodontics does both consultation + treatment on the same day. I was expecting I had to reschedule a separate appt for treatment, but this office does both during your 1st appt. My husband was seen by a different doctor and I was seen by Dr. Kim. Dr. Kim was very thorough by giving me options, she explained everything and any questions I had she answered so patiently. Just in general, every patient case is different so everyone individually will have different outcomes. I also didn't know you can still experience pain even though I had a root canal treatment done many years ago. Even my regular dentist thought it was strange I would feel pain from a tooth I had done a root canal previously. I remember telling Dr. Kim and she mentioned I still have surrounding nerves so when bacteria got into my questioned tooth explains well why I was feeling pain. Before drilling, Dr. Kim also took time to make sure the pain was coming from the questioned tooth and not from a different tooth. X-ray, again, didn't show anything, she tapped my tooth, I felt pain/tender and she also placed cold sensation, but was told she didn't place the cold air on the questioned tooth. I was going to ask a question regarding that, but I didn't. I just knew the pain was coming from the questioned tooth. Dr. Kim basically went into my tooth, drilled a hole, took out the old root filling even though it was perfectly fine, but because bacteria got into my tooth she placed medicine inside the canals followed by a temporarily seal. Due to time conflict on my end I went back to Dr. Kim about 2 weeks later. Enough time to see how well my tooth would heal. My toothache continued to last for 3-4 days after my 1st appt, but as time went by as the medicine kicked in + taking OTC as instructed helped me get rid of the toothache I initially had. It's been 2 days after Dr. Kim went back in, replaced the medicine with new root canal filling + build up + permanently sealing my tooth I've been able to eat just fine. No pain at all. Dr. Kim and her office staff were all friendly, caring, I didn't feel rushed or anything like that. Dr. Kim's assistant took several X-rays (before, during and after). Like I said, "My experience with Tri-Valley Endodontics Pleasanton location was nothing, but positive and this office accepted my dental insurance." Thank You, Dr. Kim and office staff. FYI - new patients - bathrooms are located next to the elevator and make sure you grab the right key. I didn't know, I took the wrong key (men's) so explains why I struggled trying to open the women's bathroom. lol

I initially came in for a root canal with Dr. Karishma Shah, and from the moment I sat down, the experience felt unprofessional. Before even introducing herself, Dr. Shah immediately began commenting on the size and length of my teeth. The assistant joined in as well. What should have been a simple introduction turned into a discussion about my appearance and dental anatomy, which made me uncomfortable from the start. The procedure lasted approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. During that time, Dr. Shah repeatedly commented on how long my tooth and root canals were, sighed heavily, huffed and puffed, and appeared visibly frustrated throughout the procedure. As a patient lying in a vulnerable position with my mouth numb and open, it was upsetting to repeatedly hear complaints about something I cannot control. Dr. Shah also made negative comments about another dentist's work after asking who had started the procedure and placed the temporary filling. She remarked, "No wonder, I can tell," followed by comments about it looking like his work, while laughing with the assistant. Hearing providers criticize colleagues in front of a patient is highly unprofessional. The conversations throughout the procedure were equally concerning. Dr. Shah and the assistant discussed another patient who had missed an appointment, questioned whether that patient was really in pain if they failed to show up, and complained about how schedule changes affected Dr. Shah's day. None of this had anything to do with my care and should not have been discussed in front of a patient. Because of concerns about the length of my canals, approximately nine additional X-rays were taken throughout the procedure. Dr. Shah repeatedly left the room between these X-rays, which significantly extended the appointment and raised concerns for me about maintaining a sterile environment during treatment. The worst part occurred when Dr. Shah dropped a heavy dental instrument onto my head while I was in the chair. I suffer from migraines, and the impact immediately triggered one. Despite this happening, there was still approximately 25 minutes of work left to complete. I came into the office for a root canal and left with a migraine that lasted four straight days. Unfortunately, my experience did not improve when it came time for the crown placement with Dr. Chan and Briana. The crown felt too small from the beginning. Briana did not introduce herself until I specifically asked for her name. During the fitting process, there were difficulties placing the crown correctly. At one point, the crown became stuck and could not be removed immediately, requiring several minutes of adjustments before Dr. Chan and Briana were able to remove and reposition it. Even after the crown was placed, it did not feel right. The crown protruded enough to rub against the inside of my cheek and caused ongoing discomfort. As a result, I had to return for a third visit to have the issue addressed. Given the amount I was charged for treatment, I expected a properly fitted crown and a smoother experience overall. Instead, I was left dealing with discomfort, additional appointments, and frustration that could have been avoided had the crown fit correctly from the start. EDIT: I just checked my insurance statement I am livid! I spotted 3 Extra charges !!! and the amount to be charged the CORRECT amount to be charged has ballooned!! Then they quoted $1,000 out of pocket for the deep cleaning -- stacked with optional add-on charges (antibacterial irrigation, bacterial decontamination) that insurance flat-out doesn't cover. My husband had the same deep cleaning procedure done at this same office 7 months ago for a fraction of the price -- $198. I wrote to them asking for a revised quote without the optional procedures and never got a response. On top of that, no matter how early you check in, you're always waiting at least 30 minutes past your appointment time. Front desk staff are not pleasant to deal with either, so don't expect any warmth or willingness to help if you have questions about your bill. Do yourself a favor and get a second opinion elsewhere before you let this office anywhere near your mouth.

Extremely disappointing experience after years of doing business with this office…read more We have used this oral surgery office in the past for another child, so I was particularly disappointed by what happened today. We were running a few minutes behind and had attempted to call the office to let them know, but there was no answer. The receptionist, Kyleigh Wallace subsequently called me and immediately spoke to me in an unnecessarily rude and condescending manner about being late and the other appointments scheduled that day. I simply asked whether we would still be seen, and her response was snarky and vague which ultimately didn't offer any resolution. When we arrived, the interaction became even more uncomfortable. The office is now out-of-network with our insurance, which was not the case historically. I was trying to understand the payment process because my insurance had explained that they would cover 80% of the treatment, with only one service covered at 50%, and that the office needed to submit information to the insurance so I would know what my portion would be. Rather than helping me understand the process, Kyleigh became extremely defensive, hostile and condescending. She threatened to cancel the appointment while I was simply asking for clarification. She ultimately raised her voice and spoke to me in front of my two children unprofessionally. I explained that insurance billing is not my area of expertise and that I was simply asking her, as the office representative, to explain what I needed to do and whether the claim needed to go through the office or my insurance. I even suggested that we call the insurance company together so everyone could be on the same page. She refused and then spoke over the insurance representative when I called the insurance company myself to ensure there was alignment. What was especially disappointing was that no one else from the office, including the surgeon, Jerry Wang or other staff members, stepped in while this interaction was escalating. Ironically, Kyleigh ultimately completed the insurance-related step that I had been asking about from the beginning, the same process the insurance company had instructed me was necessary. The entire interaction was unnecessarily hostile, disrespectful and unprofessional. I was not asking for special treatment or refusing to pay. I was asking for basic clarification about a financial responsibility and trying to make sure the office and insurance company were aligned since both provided conflicting information. After having positive experiences with this office in the past, today's experience was extremely disappointing. Patients should be able to ask reasonable questions about their treatment and financial responsibility without being yelled at, talked down to, threatened with cancellation, or made to feel like they are doing something wrong.

Short Story: If you need to have any teeth extracted than Dr. Wang is the one to go to!…read more Long Story: I've taken my family here for extractions and Dr. Wang has always done a good job. He is quite knowledgeable and will help answer all your questions. In my experience the extractions took less than 20 minutes from start to finish. In addition, you also have a follow up appointment one week after to ensure everything is okay. To be fair though my family has experienced complications related to surgery but I wouldn't say that is Dr. Wang's fault. It was just bad luck. If you need any help after hours then voice messages do get routed to his cell phone. Verdict: I know who to go to for help!
