From out of state working in the area, my crown cracked at dinner I found Star Dental via Yelp the next morning. The dentist spoke with me and offered two options for an appointment the same day. I arrived for the appointment, and I was greeted by receptionist she was friendly and attentive. There was a minimal weight that allowed me to complete the registration forms, and the dental technician brought me straight to an exam room. The dentist was friendly and immediately examined the bridge. X-rays were taken and the dentist briefed me using the x-rays to show me the problem. She offered 2 solutions as I am from out of state. She was very clear and explained both options. This is Thursday evening 5PM, I have an appointment to get the preparation and temporary bridge with impressions for the finished product on Saturday morning. To say the least I am grateful for the super quick appointment and the kindness the dentist and staff afforded to me. My bridge had to have broken so I could meet the Dr. Vundavalli who is a wonderful and kind person. Dr. Chandana Vundavalli is the best dentist I've found so far. I had several overdue cavities that I had been putting off because of a terrible filling experience with a previous dentist. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm, professional team of four amazing ladies who made the entire visit feel personal and stress-free. The overall experience was great and Dr. Vundavalli herself was absolutely wonderful. The Dr. was a very sweet witch a warm demeanor that made you feel comfortable and welcome. She was very professional and focused on finding the best course of action for my care while also providing a good conversation to get to know each other that made the experience enjoyable. I'm 24 and she talked pleasantly with me about my life and plans for the future, and just generally how I was doing, and then she gave me some information about herself as well. it was very sweet. She is super knowledgeable and patient, and welcome to answering all the questions I had- and I ask a lot of questions. I went in for my first general cleaning after having switched dentists and having not gone in a few years, and it was not to my surprise that I had some cavities and needed fillings. She showed me pictures and came up with an efficient plan to take care of them. The teeth I was having fixed were ones previously filled by my other dentists and it was made clear very quickly the difference as she seemed surprised at the way he had handled one of my teeth and left it patchy, and explained how she would have done it differently. She definitely knew what she was talking about, but stated it in a way that wasn't arrogant or condescending towards any of my previous dental work, it was professional and focused on where to go from there. When I came back to receive the fillings it was probably the most comfortable dental experience I've ever had, and I've been to a handful of dentists. She had no problem explaining to me what she was doing as she did it, and I felt absolutely nothing. The filling was on my last lower molar, and even with my cross bite and small mouth I didn't feel the numbing shot at all because she went slow and gentle, not even a pinch- she was in no hurry which was a great change of pace from my previous dentistry, and she held no reservations in giving me a second shot when I didn't think I was numb enough. She checked in with me frequently throughout the treatment, and I didn't feel left out of the loop She was there to treat me as a person rather than as just another tooth case- my previous dentist made me feel like he wanted to get me out the door as fast as possible and when I was finished I felt a lot of pressure on one of my front teeth (my cross bite means my front teeth touch.) Dr. Vundavalli took extra care to double check my bite and the surfaces of my teeth when she was done and I was actually shocked when I got home that my bite felt way better than usual; the pressure on my front tooth was gone and I can only assume her work on my back teeth and attention to how my mouth opened/closed must have helped shift my bite where my teeth collided, and it is so much more comfortable now. She is very conscious of the comfort of the person shes working on, and is very kind and softly spoken. I'm always apprehensive when I get a new dentist because it's hard to trust a stranger to drill in your mouth, but now I'm looking forward to getting the rest of my teeth fixed because I can trust she will do a good job and that she cares. I had to get all of my bottom teeth pulled out and had a bone graph done on my jaw, due to an infection. My dentist CHANDANA VUNDAVALLI Could visably see my infection and pointed out that she knew I had been in alot of pain! And she wasnt lying I was in some of the worst pain of my life! My dentist took her time explaining everything and making sure i felt comfortable and calmed my nerves. I was terrified to be awake for the procedure but she made sure I wasnt in pain&her and her staff kept me calm and collected. This was about a month ago my bone graph is still healing and everything is going well, even though I am a light smoker . My wife and I were a little leery about a new dentist talking over the practice. We adored Dr. Chalmers, she'd been our dentist for years as well as our grown daughter all through childhood. So we were not only were losing our beloved dentist, but also facing an unknown of what the new dentist would be like and how she would measure up to Dr. Chalmers ... Dr. Vundavalli has been an awesome new dentist for us. Beyond tremendous for me, here are some comments and examples ... Unfortunately for me, I've recently had some dental complications for the first time in my life, and have had to go in a number of times, with a few still to go. So I've had a lot appointments and Dr. V has been tremendous. I can't say enough great things about her. First of all, she is very professional, thorough/on top of things, explains things very well... so I very quickly was impressed and won over by her. Also, Dr. Vundavalli is VERY empathetic so she really cares about you and the treatment you will be getting. She is very communicative, assures you as things go, is very confident in her approach. She tells you she will be gentle and cautious, which she very much is. She is very in tune to your comfort and has a great "touch" as it were. She's been the best I've ever experienced with numbing, drilling, etc. I'm a bit of a "white knuckled" dental patient and she's helped alleviate a lot of that for me. Another example ... Dr V. called me at home in the evening well after hours as I had left a message at her well office after closing and she called me back within an hour. I mean, how many dentists would do that? That is going well above and beyond IMO. She really cares about her patients and her practice. Dr. Vundavalli has absolutely met and surpassed my hopes and expectations... doing so through some unfortunate and at times difficult procedures. I'm also much more relaxed and less apprehensive of some of my upcoming appointments and processes thanks to her. My wife really likes her and been impressed as well. We plan on her being our dentist moving forward, and are relieved and happy she's so good. Maybe the biggest compliment I can give her is she is every bit the excellent dentist that Dr. Chalmers was and is every bit as nice in her own way as Dr. C was in hers. In each different situation with me she has been fantastic in each case and overall. The several visits have given her a chance to really demonstrate her excellence. Also she has a great hygienist Dolly and a great other staff with Misty and Ruth ... all are also very nice, personable, professional and very good at their own jobs. Anyone looking for a new dentist, or is reticent as a former Dr. Chalmers patient should be confident in choosing Dr. V ... you'll be very pleased. Plus they play great music in there!! read more

I had to have a crown removed and a temporary installed. Unfortunately there was a problem with it so I called the office.. Well they were closed so I left a message. I got a return call from Ms Vundavalli DDS that afternoon and she was in San Francisco. She agreed to open up the office and meet me at 6pm that evening. She spent 40 minutes with me remoulding and installing the new temporary crown. Not sure ANY other dentist would have done that. Her practice is new and with that kind of service, I am sure, it will grow. She has me now as a customer for life. read more
