I was greeted with a smile and a welcome. I was notified there might be an additional 10 to 15 minute wait-time, which is the first time I've had any medical or dental profession do this and I appreciate it. This office and the staff work hard to put the patient first, making sure that any questions are answered and any concerns are met with friendly response. Going into my fifth year with Pleasanton Ridge Dental group, I've watched this practice improve & I appreciate it! The reason for this particular visit is my crown fell off Sunday night. I called first thing Monday morning, Presidents' Day weekend when most everywhere is closed and they were open. They were able to get me in at 11 AM! My crown was reattached and I continued on with my day with minimal inconvenience. How satisfied am I with Pleasanton Ridge Dental Group? Enough to pay for independent coverage allowing me to remain with PRDG when my Medicare advantage health plan chose a free dental plan benefit with a different provider. I have had major dental work such as crowns and a dental implant and through it all Dr. Angela Khanna is friendly, incredibly caring and compassionate. I am disappointed that I had to give one star in order to leave a review. My experience at this office was so poor that I genuinely wish I had never come here. I initially came in for a root canal with Dr. Karishma Shah, and from the moment I sat down, the experience felt unprofessional. Before even introducing herself, Dr. Shah immediately began commenting on the size and length of my teeth. The assistant joined in as well. What should have been a simple introduction turned into a discussion about my appearance and dental anatomy, which made me uncomfortable from the start. The procedure lasted approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. During that time, Dr. Shah repeatedly commented on how long my tooth and root canals were, sighed heavily, huffed and puffed, and appeared visibly frustrated throughout the procedure. As a patient lying in a vulnerable position with my mouth numb and open, it was upsetting to repeatedly hear complaints about something I cannot control. Dr. Shah also made negative comments about another dentist's work after asking who had started the procedure and placed the temporary filling. She remarked, "No wonder, I can tell," followed by comments about it looking like his work, while laughing with the assistant. Hearing providers criticize colleagues in front of a patient is highly unprofessional. The conversations throughout the procedure were equally concerning. Dr. Shah and the assistant discussed another patient who had missed an appointment, questioned whether that patient was really in pain if they failed to show up, and complained about how schedule changes affected Dr. Shah's day. None of this had anything to do with my care and should not have been discussed in front of a patient. Because of concerns about the length of my canals, approximately nine additional X-rays were taken throughout the procedure. Dr. Shah repeatedly left the room between these X-rays, which significantly extended the appointment and raised concerns for me about maintaining a sterile environment during treatment. The worst part occurred when Dr. Shah dropped a heavy dental instrument onto my head while I was in the chair. I suffer from migraines, and the impact immediately triggered one. Despite this happening, there was still approximately 25 minutes of work left to complete. I came into the office for a root canal and left with a migraine that lasted four straight days. Unfortunately, my experience did not improve when it came time for the crown placement with Dr. Chan and Briana. The crown felt too small from the beginning. Briana did not introduce herself until I specifically asked for her name. During the fitting process, there were difficulties placing the crown correctly. At one point, the crown became stuck and could not be removed immediately, requiring several minutes of adjustments before Dr. Chan and Briana were able to remove and reposition it. Even after the crown was placed, it did not feel right. The crown protruded enough to rub against the inside of my cheek and caused ongoing discomfort. As a result, I had to return for a third visit to have the issue addressed. Given the amount I was charged for treatment, I expected a properly fitted crown and a smoother experience overall. Instead, I was left dealing with discomfort, additional appointments, and frustration that could have been avoided had the crown fit correctly from the start. EDIT: I just checked my insurance statement I am livid! I spotted 3 Extra charges !!! and the amount to be charged the CORRECT amount to be charged has ballooned!! I will be making a claim against this! DO NOT COME HERE!!! ABORT MISSION! read more

They are corporate. They stopped taking FEDERAL EMPLOYEE HEALTH BENEFIT plan and POSTAL SERVICE HEALTH BENEFIT plan. They will not bill them as the primary dental insurance. In order for the secondary insurance to pay, the primary insurance has to be billed first. The manager was out the day I was there. The manager was supposed to call me the following day. The manager never called. They are a provider for my secondary insurance. If they were willing to bill my primary insurance as a courtesy, my secondary insurance would have paid, and I would be their customer. I guess the are overwhelmed with customers to the point of not wanting any more customers. read more

Had extreme pain, was unbearable and couldn't sleep previous night. Made an emergency appointment and went in first thing in the morning. They took my pain and concerns seriously, investigated thoroughly and got me a root canal therapy work done on same day. I was desperate for help and they took very good care of me. Dr nam has done 3 oral surgeries.(,implants) And DR Sonam is doing cosmetic surgery and a number of crowns. They have fixed all the faulty work done by 2 other dentists.. I ask lots of question about every single thing now. They never get annoyed and just make sure I'm cool with everything. They are all so professional overall and "easy on the eyes" lol just plain Ole nice people Dr Sonam promised me on my first day of treatment that she would make absolutely sure I was 100% satisfied with the results. She has kept her word.... I can b picky and a bit impatient at times but the Dr's and staff always take extra time to explain everything before during and after treatments. I truly feel special each time I go. I'll post a pic of my new ,"Hollywood teeth" once this is all done. I am very excited and ,,,lm extreemly happy that I found this team. As most of us are I was so anxious to go to the dentist, but they were so kind to me. They talked me through my options, payment plans, and reassured me that we were going to fix my issues. THIS PLACE IS DOING SKETCHY THINGS WITH INSURANCE AND BILLING!! Check your claims and insurance! I got quoted for $1700 for my crown and first half of my deep cleaning. Ashley said that this is just an estimate and that it may be more or less once they get back the final claim from insurance. Fast forward a month and I get my claim. Insurance said I only owed them $850 for the visit, not $1700. I called Ashley back and she says "well we used a different not covered material" and how there were codes within this one code they submitted to my insurance that was covered. MY INSURANCE CONFIRMED 3 TIMES MY CROWN IS COVERED. MY INSURANCE SEES NOTHING THAT IS NOT COVERED WITH THIS CROWN. That's when Ashely said that the covered material they billed my insurance for was not the same not covered, expensive material they actually ended up using. So they charged me the out of pocket difference and submitted nothing to my insurance claiming that they used an uncovered material. So after getting nowhere with that, both Ashley and Dr. Jacky Chen confirmed that their records only have that I paid $1300 for my visit, not the $1700 I have a receipt for. I asked why there is now a price discrepancy between us, Dr. Chen said he would call me back and I still have heard nothing from him. I called the office and Ashley ended up explaining that I'm getting a $400 credit for the frustration....not the discrepancy in accounting. So not only did they give shady answers to my insurance about what they billed vs. what they actually did, I still don't have an explanation as to why I was overcharged for the visit. I am escalating this through my insurance and Dental board. It seems they have been doing this for a while. DO NOT GO HERE!! read more

When I asked if I had any cavities, the dentist looked at my x-rays and said, "I can't tell. The fillings hide a lot." She didn't even look in my mouth to poke around! They also charged me $500 for laser treatment of teeth under the gums, when the going rate is $200, and charged me for my next appointment in advance! I won't be going back. read more

Scammy & greedy-- never had dental issues in my life but at each of the three appts I had here before switching, they sold me some $600 thing or other every time. A friend who's been in orthodontics for decades corroborates my story in that they are scamming people out of their money. This review is for Pleasanton Ridge Dental Group. Save your teeth and your dignity--do not go here. The dentist I saw manipulated me into getting an inlay when all I needed was a simple filling. She used technical dental terms to confuse me, and on the day of the procedure, when I confirmed I was there for a filling, she said "yes" and then proceeded to do an inlay. Later, I researched and learned the significant difference between the two procedures and the cost. At the end of the appointment, she mentioned I had another tooth needing a filling but suggested I wait 6-8 months to come back for another inlay instead of addressing it with a filling. After the procedure, I started feeling sensitivity to cold water on the treated tooth and left several messages for the office, but no one responded. Additionally, my experience during the initial X-rays was extremely frustrating. The person taking the X-rays was untrained and struggled to get a clear image, repeatedly retaking the scans. Even with the standing X-ray machine, he couldn't get it right, and I eventually had to ask him to stop because it was becoming too much. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

I am writing on behalf of my mom who speaks basic English and I am the one that called, made appointments and followed up. Normally, I don't do a lot of bad reviews but this was so traumatizing for my mom, I don't want others to go through this experience. Long story short - Dentist damages nerve, charges you for procedures that were not done, takes over two months to get money back. Front desk lady is very rude. --------- My mom's teeth background: no major teeth issues, minor cavities and had a crown that had no problems. Apparently there is a hard push on procedures that are not necessary and take advantage of folks whose English is not their first language. My mom went in for a first time check up and meeting. They pushed a lot of procedures on my mom and without fully understanding, ended up taking a detailed scan, 10 xrays and 4 photos. Then pushed a replacement crown done on the same day - on a crown that had NO problems. My mom paid $2253 out of pocket on top of the insurance for a crown replacement she didn't ask for. (and for a procedure she never did but we'll get to that in a bit) The dentist, Agarwal, that "fixed" the crown had less than 2 years of experience (from being a student dentist) and less than 4 years as a dentist (graduated 2020) and damaged my mom's nerve. My mom couldn't chew on that side for almost 3 months. My mom went back the following week to complain about the nerve and had to argue with the dentist - Dr. Agarwal kept insisting that it wasn't her....Who else could it be!? No one else touched my mom's teeth. I didn't understand why my mom paid so much for her first time visit so we called and and asked for an itemized bill. They said they'll send via email but none was sent so my mom had to go INTO the office to get the bill. At the office, they asked my mom to come back for a FREE deep cleaning. My mom was surprised so she confirmed that it was completely free? Yes, free - come back next week for a free cleaning. I thought something was fishy so I made sure to tell my mom to confirm that its free before they do the work. So when she sat down and asked if it was free, they backtracked and said she had to pay a portion. So she refused the cleaning and that's when she found out that they had already CHARGED her on the first appointment. They submitted the paperwork to insurance and could not give back my mom her money so they convinced her to come back for a "free" deep cleaning. This business would not refund my mom's $791 dollars till they got paid from insurance (for a procedure they never did - fraud, no? if my mom never went back for the cleaning or didn't ask about the itemized bill and had just left the practice, would this business tell insurance and give them back money willingly? Insurance is getting a call/email from me next). Plus, Amanda confirmed that they would NOT be calling us to inform up when they got paid from insurance but instead told us to call back 4-6 weeks. Basically, its up to us to work on getting back the money they took from us. We called at 6 weeks. Still no money and had me on hold once they figured out who was calling. Had to call multiple times (try to avoid Amanda. She's not a nice lady. She hangs up on her customers and I could tell she was pissed off at me, real classy.) Instead of trying to rectify the issues THEY created, the office makes you feel icky. Called again at 7 weeks and finally in week 8, my mom's money was returned. This morning I went in for an urgent dentist appointment and ended up needing a double filling etc.... Dr. P was AMAZING. HE not only squeezed me in-between his patients but did them both on the spot. He has a calming disposition and smooth needle work while getting me numb. I didn't feel a thing. He made sure I was out of pain and taken care of before I left. Amanda the operations manager is gem! She worked with me on a payment plan so I could actually afford to get my teeth fixed properly. In addition she went out of her way to call a different office to get me on the schedule for my root canals. This is above the beyond. Most places give you a referral and tell you to find somewhere. Avoid if you don't want to be financially abused. This is a profit-driven business. AND Unethical. Cons: - The most expensive dental office I've ever visited. - Don't bother bringing your insurance, they tweak and manipulate procedures with so-called "newest methods and materials" to ensure they aren't covered by insurance. This includes upselling procedures that lack proven effectiveness (but are certainly profitable). They assume you are not educated enough to read the research. - My dentist was extremely pushy about unnecessary procedures, making every visit uncomfortable. - Just months before switching to this office, my previous dentist (who I lost due to an insurance change) never pushed these treatments. Now after dropping these guys, my new dentist offers the same so-called recommended procedures for almost half the price, if I even choose to do them! Pros: - The staff is nice. - Their website and patient portal are well-designed and user-friendly. I'm borderline about reporting them for unethical practices. read more

My dental assistant was Sergio, he was super sweet and we had similar interests so it was nice to chat with him. I've been coming to this dental practice for the past 2 years, and every time I visit, I leave with a bad feeling. On the positive side, they seem to have new equipment and thorough procedures. Also, ALL of the dental hygienists I've had have been wonderful. However, I've seen two dentists, and they have both been very focused on upselling procedures and applying high pressure tactics to sell more treatments. On one visit, when I explained my feeling about this to the dentist who saw me, he backed down and seemed to listen to my experience. The first dentist I saw last year did not have the same attitude and was extremely condescending when I declined services suggested. I also overheard receptionists on a visit last year talking about a rewards program for selling services. Overall, my mood declines every time I visit this place, and I feel I need to be guarded in the face of their approach. It seems to all be about $, with low level of respect for patient's wishes and comfort with the procedures suggested. Be warned! read more

I've had a crown done here, as well as regular check ups. What I don't like about this office is that they seem to cram so many appointments in any given time, so our wait time has always been so long. With regards to my crown, I paid via FSA and the claim was denied, and insurance details indicated a very different amount than what was in my insurance details. My claim was also denied by healthcare FSA. So I'm not sure what they are charging me, but apparently not a contractual rate with insurance. I've asked multiple times for an itemized receipt that would be acceptable for FSA purposes and never got a response. So I'm very skeptical of this place and will be looking for a different dentist. read more

This place ranks up there among the best I've ever been to. They have a professional staff that were open to answering all my (many!) questions. I had an appointment on their We Serve Saturday. When I arrived the staff was all dressed in their We Serve t-shirts and the atmosphere was very energetic. Everyone in the entire office was wonderful...from the reception area, to the billing desk, to the back office staff. They all work very well together as a team and made my appointment seamless. Then they made me wait for 30 mins and no one seemed to be bothered that a patient is waiting for their appt. Billing at this office is a nightmare. At my new-patient appointment I was quoted over $800 to address 3 cavities. This seemed way too high, so I requested the estimate in writing. It took over a month (and multiple phone calls and emails) to receive the estimate, and when I did receive it the copay requested for a filling was nearly 3 times what my insurance plan said it should be. I called my insurance company to confirm the correct copay, and they confirmed what my info said. I called Pleasanton Ridge Dental to inform them of the discrepancy, and I was told by their billing manager that my plan was "downgrading" the filling to a silver one, and that if I wanted a composite that matched the color of my tooth I would need to pay the extra amount. I called my insurance again, told them about the "downgrade", and was immediately told "your plan doesn't have any downgrades". The agent on the phone said he'd call Pleasanton Ridge Dental to correct them, but I have received no communication from them since then acknowledging the mistakes. TL;DR - If you choose to go to this office, pay close attention to your bills and estimates. They quoted me prices for basic services that were well above what my insurance plan says I should pay, and they doubled down by telling me I was wrong when I gave them the correct information. read more

If you have to go here for teeth cleaning then ignore them when they try to push anything else. They push HARD to sell you crap you don't need. Especially fillings. Do not listen to them when they say you have cavities, it's almost certainly bullshit. I eventually caved in to getting a partial crown on my lower back left molar as they said the dentin was exposed there. I had no issues with that tooth before this but I thought they might know better. I definitely should have asked for a second opinion somewhere else, rookie mistake. When I went back after complaining that my bite was off, they ground down THE UPPER MOLAR instead of the lower molar's partial crown! So my once perfectly fine upper molar now has exposed dentin and is sensitive! What's wrong with them? First they fix a supposed problem on my lower molar and then create the same problem on my upper one. Garbage service. Would not recommend this place unless you like paying to permanently ruin your teeth. read more

My son was looking for an orthodontist. He called and told the receptionist that, he was calling to schedule an ortho consultation. Receptionist asked for his name, Insurance info, and gave him an appt. The day before his appt the office called to confirm his ortho consultation appt. We show up to the appt, checks in, fills out paperwork, gets called back to the office for about 10 mins, comes back to the front to tell me that they don't have an orthodontist in the office and have to give me a referral. We both looked annoyed--- it clearly states on the door what services they provide(one of them being orthodontia). As we were waiting for the referral- my son and I said to each other- when you initially called- you requested a ortho consultation, the receptionist clearly was aware of the type of appt. The company was also listed on your insurance website as an in network provider. We met with a couple of other ortho offices and I guess this was a sign that we will go with another dr. I was also lied to about no claim was submitted, but I had called in right away, to ask for a refund, but they said that I might have a refund coming. I knew that they lied! No apology at all. This place is a mess! I went in 4 times for teeth that didn't fit were the right color and were never finished and delivered! The facility is not clean as you would expect and neither are the iPads u have you use every time you go in there! I also took my daughter and she was told a tooth needed to be extracted and then when we got there for appointment another dentist discovered it may leave my daughter paralyzed in face but if we wanted to take the chance we could still allow them to remove it! I came for routine cleaning with the dental hygienist. Instead, the doctor ended up cleaning my teeth that lasted no more than 5 minutes. Dental cleanings are scheduled to last 30 minutes to one full hour. She didn't floss my teeth, she didn't remove any plaque buildup around my gums, she didn't give me mouth wash to rinse. Then, she made a sales pitch about me getting veneers. I've had braces and have been told my teeth are straight; no dentist has ever recommended veneers to me. My appointment was scheduled for one full hour. Instead, I was waiting in the room where the cleaning takes place for 35-40 minutes. For the final 5 minutes of my appointment, some buildup around my two front teeth was removed and that's all. I would've asked to have the full one-hour cleaning done, but at that point, I had to get back to work. read more

I thought coming to a dental office with all specialties is a good thing. It turns out that they do not know how to work with each other. My dad was scheduled to have his teeth pulled a month ago. The week before his surgery, they left messages for him to schedule another appointment with the generalist again. We were not able to call back on time and they cancelled the surgery. When I found out the reason why they requested additional appointment, I can't believe that the clueless front desk told me that their surgeon ONLY pull teeth and he doesn't know how to cut the bridge on it. So the generalist needs to do it. When I challenged the front desk that the surgeon went through training as a generalist first before he becomes a surgeon, the front desk just went ok... She even blame the generalist for not making an additional appointment. I just thought, huh, are you in charge now? For the surgery, they didn't even recommend local anesthesia, but general anesthesia which cost out of pocket. Sure, local anesthesia is more uncomfortable, it's up to the patient to decide what he/she would like to do. Don't come to this office because you will be the one who will suffer not them. You will waste your time, pay extra and you will go to multiple unnecessary appointments. read more
