There was nothing wrong going so came in and started shouting and cursing, and snatched the microphone out of her hands, which was insane. He yelled in her face like an abusive man.

I had emailed over a list of music to play throughout the night as a guideline and she stuck to it but also had remixed versions of some of my favorites which made it more fun. Throughout the night she remained professional (in the past I'd witness DJs at events act like fools near the end of the night. not good.) and pleasant to my guests. All my guests commented on how fab the music was, it definitely added to my event. I also had Nguyen along with Tessa deejay a corporate holiday event. Again, arrived on time and remained professional throughout the night. They were able to read the crowd (ages ranged from 30-60 yrs of age!) and kept the dance floor going - everyone happy and having fun. Tessa was also a great emcee when needed - she spoke clearly and projected! From set up to breakdown - they were fantastic! I highly recommend Blackbook Social Club for all your party/event needs!!

We've been bringing our kids to swim lessons at the Griffin Club for nearly a year and have…read moregenuinely enjoyed the experience (besides the food that really lacks quality and consistency). The swim instructors are wonderful and it's been a positive environment for our family. We were informed that non-members are only allowed to participate in swim lessons for a limited period (12 weeks). The fact that we were able to enjoy the club for nearly a year was an exception. We understood and respected the policy. Because we liked the club and have many friends who are members, we decided to move forward with a membership-- paying the significant initiation fee. However, after joining, we learned that some non-members we've seen in the past are now able to enroll in swim lessons by having member friends sign them up. This workaround seems to be very unfair, which makes the enforcement of the policy feel inconsistent. We've also heard ongoing concerns from members about how non-member participation in swim lessons can make scheduling more competitive. While we understand this from both sides, especially since we were recently non-members ourselves, it does highlight a broader issue around fairness and how benefits are structured. Members should always be given the priority. It's disappointing because we made a significant financial commitment based on what we were told. Greater clarity and consistency in how these policies are applied would go a long way in building trust and ensuring all members feel they are receiving the value they signed up for.

Strictly a GOLF review based on one round in January of 2022…read more So, I've played about a dozen of private clubs in the LA area, including LACC, Annendale, Bel Air, Hacienda, Oakmont, Hacienda, etc. so I have a fair basis to say this: WOW and WOW. It's hard to believe that a course can be maintained like this in the middle of LA. It's quite simply, perfect. The fairways are rolling green carpets and the rough are rolling shag carpets. The greens are perfect, and unlike so many private courses whose members seem to be masochists, the greens do not stimp 15. They are reasonable. 10-11? It's a golf paradise in the middle of bustling West LA. The layout is straight-forward, but very hilly. Not a lot of trees and they are mostly smallish. OB's not really at play unless you are wildly off-line on a few of the exterior holes. The rough is not a big issue. We played from the "blues" (second furthest back--about 6600 yards). We played early and it was really cold (50s) so it felt like 7000. I'm a 4.8 handicap, and I shot an 88. Ouch. Here's why: (and maybe this will help some of those who read this to have more fun, because playing better is more fun, right?) CHIPPING and PITCHING The greens are TIGHT. If you chip properly (pro form), using the bounce, you better get this squared away before you show up. Either get a wedge with 4-6 degrees of bounce or use a different technique (maybe open a wedge, bump and run, whatever). Chipping and pitching is the best part of my game and I skulled 2 chips, and I went to the chipping area after my round to work on it (to see if it was nerves or technique) and I realized I couldn't use my technique. It is simply too tight and firm, esp. if any grain into me. I'd have to be perfect using a 60 degree with 12 degrees of bounce. Pro tip: go to Rustic Canyon. Very similar. CADDIES: If you are a serious player and aren't used to playing with a caddie, get prepared. It affects your routine. For me, after several mishaps, I just told him I didn't need distances or reads unless I asked. That's when I got back into a groove and starting making some pars. Make sure you lighten your bag to only the essentials, and bring your carry-bag, not a pro bag. (and be prepared to tip cash, see below) BUNKERS: the sand is good, but if you are hitting your distances, you will be in a lot of bunkers because they are a main protector of par on this course. I was in 6! 3 of them on par 3s where I hit the green! They are pretty deep, too. PUTTING: I three-putted a bunch. If you are used to playing flattish LA muni greens, you need to get your distance control for up and down hill putts dialed in. They are not hard to read. I actually stopped using my caddie for reads all together and was fine for the read. It was just really hard to get the speed right. Not tricky, but not easy. Again, go to Rustic. Very similar. ROUGH: about 3 inches. The ball sits up, so the real issue is not going under the ball. You can't bottom-out your club. Once you figure that out, it's really easy. I didn't have any issue. PAR 3s. There is only one short par 3. The rest are 180+, one was 240! from middle tees! (270 from back) You really need to think about good misses. It's very hard to get up and down from the bunkers. Short is usually a good miss. It is an amazing place. Get there early. It's probably the nicest range I've ever been on--probably just beats out Journeys at Pechanga. There is a Trackman for all members that hooks up to their phones! Imagine that! Titleist ProV1 practice balls, of course. Mats? Nowhere in sight. Get some practice in on the practice chipping and bunkers. VIBE: I have to say that I was far more comfortable here than any other private course I've ever been to. The golf staff was incredibly nice and genuine, too. The vibe (and again, I didn't step foot in the club house) was more "open" and "modern" than LACC (which was very Overlook Hotel) or Annendale or even Oakmont. Perhaps this has to do with the difference in history. (Look it up) One last pro tip: They require valet for your car, so make sure you prepare for that. I usually play with a push cart, and I left my towel with my push cart, and, as you know, it's the little things in golf. And, if you want to avoid the whole locker room time-suck, put your golf shoes on before you drive over. Otherwise you have to store your shoes because you can't have your caddie lug your shoes around 18 holes and a mile of elevation changes. One more tip: 1 caddie for 2 players. We both tipped $100, which I think is a little on the high side, but you know, it was a free round, and carrying two bags is kinds crazy. So enjoy this incredible golf course with its incredible views. It's really something. ENJOY. FORE! p.s. I didn't take any pics of the course, because they just didn't do it justice. Seriously, it's stunning.

Very kind and knowledgeable instructors and friendly staff, and it's not overrun with annoying people and ring-light influencers which is nothing short of an accomplishment in a specialty gym in this neighborhood. It feels relaxed and like there is privacy and mutual respect. The only detraction of one star is that the restaurant has really confusing hours and has sort of been a non-concept for months on end now. You should be able to get a drink after 5 p.m., otherwise what's the point of belonging to a gym with a beautiful bar and restaurant?

I have been attending Club 21 Toastmasters' meetings for over a year now, and I can honestly say…read morethat the decision to join has been one of the greatest investments I've ever made in myself. Having just recently completed a master's degree at UCLA, I continually found myself thinking that the growth I've achieved from my 2 hour-per-week commitment to my club far exceeded my feelings of accomplishment at the more formal institution of learning. I first showed up at Club 21 because I suffer from what sometimes feels like a crippling fear of speaking. Prior to joining Club 21, I HATED public speaking, and my feelings of anxiety extended to other forms of formal speaking as well- such as conducting myself in interviews and meetings. While I can't say that my speaking-phobia has disappeared, my feelings at the lectern have become more nuanced; rather than experiencing pure terror, I now feel a mix of fear and sheer exhilaration at the opportunity to address a room of attentive listeners. It is such an incredible feeling- I often drive away from meetings feeling more confident and empowered than I ever had before. The club members are quite an interesting mix of people. There are folks of all ages and from many walks of life, but they all share one common characteristic- everyone is incredibly supportive. If you decide to attend a meeting, your hands will get a workout; we do a hell of a lot of clapping. Not only that, but the Toastmasters program offers countless opportunities for evaluation and feedback. After presenting a speech, you will receive a formal spoken evaluation, a written evaluation, and feedback cards from most members of the club... not to mention a lot of pats on the back. I really can't emphasize enough how wonderful this club is. I think the Toastmasters program in general is pretty fantastic, but I like to think that our club is exceptionally special, as well. However, there are some perks to playing adult kickball, that was never included or allowed as a youngster..... #1 Lots of Beer for cheap.... #2 Lots of cursing..... #3 Lots of gloating..... #4 Lots of cool ass team names, except my team and a few others....lol. Played a couple of years ago and is great exercise, but my team expected way too much by wanting to practice all of the time (like twice a week! + 1 game a week)), which many teams did not do and still won many games (some took it way too seriously though)... but to be honest, I just had too many other things going on I felt were more important, like now, so I didn't give my team a fair chance to bond and grow with. If you DO ever decide to sign up (like $60+ bucks for a t-shirt, be assigned a team & meet cool people for about 10+ games), sign up for a team with a group or at least a couple of people YOU ALREADY KNOW & HANG WITH...... it's kind of "clickish", in a Dungeons & Dragons way. Have you ever seen the movie, "Role Models"?....If so, you know what I mean..... if not....hello?! Netflix....lol. Plus, many of the players are in 2-3 other kickball leagues with one another and have played with the same people for years. I would love to try it out again, especially 'cause I totally kicked ass in it....lol, (even though I pulled a muscle because some a-hole tried to trip me! ... Hollywood - Indoor soccer league…read more I had positive experiences with CLUBWAKA when I played in their volleyball league in CT. It was very organized & I had a great experience overall. After moving to LA, I recommended this organization to my boyfriend & his friend. Because of my positive experience, they joined the Hollywood indoor soccer league and it was a disaster. I'm not sure who all the organizers were but Raul Perez was our point of contact and I couldn't have been more embarrassed. Basically, they closed registration without putting my BF & his friend on a full team and because of the two girls on the field at all times policy, they had to borrow a player for their first game. They then had to forfeit the 2nd game with Raul giving them a bunch of nonsense about finding extra female players for the team. By the 3rd game, he basically told my BF he could either get a refund or split his team up into other existing teams (which were more than full). When my BF's team said they'll just accept the refund, Raul seemed quite happy and made a comment about him finally being able to have an even number of teams. Very unprofessional. I don't know how other CLUBWAKA leagues in LA are, but the Hollywood Indoor league is extremely unorganized.
