Their warehouse style tasting room doubles as their barrel room. The winery is located between Shenandoah and Fiddletown Roads several minutes back and up the hill. This winery focuses mainly on Syrah varietals with several blends including a GSM and a Zin/Syrah. I am not a big Syrah fan, but I did appreciate the more traditional GSM with a more subtle blend. Their Zinfandel uses a different yeast profile relying more on natural yeasts for a more lively taste. The room is also a nice escape from some of the more fancy places down the road. Distant does lack a wide variety of varietals, and their location is a bit remote. However, Syrah fans should seek out this winery for a more unique take on Amador blends and Rhone wines.

The Almond, the Peach, and the Strawberry. I have an office full of girls that enjoy their sweet bubbles. So they got some that day. For me, I like the reds. I thinks it's truly annoying they have to refund the entire wine pick up and recharge you again. It's not a friendly user experience and should be reviewed. Credit the two bottles and recharge the 2 bottles. I think it would be a simple process for the customer and the winery, and still have good accounting practices. I asked if we could have the complementary breadsticks everyone else was eating them and the girl behind the counter said we are all out. OKAY! I really love the Chardonnay it's my favorite. Rombauer makes some great wines. Bottles can be costly, but once you open the bottle and you have your first - three sips, you know why you're in the wine club. As a member your tastings are complementary which is a nice benefit. I'm happy that they hold our wine club bottles until we come to pick them up usually twice a year. It would be nice if they did complementary shipping for a penny all the time.

I had to show them the email confirmation. It was fine and we were still able to sit down right away. The inside wine tasting room is kind of small but the outdoor patio and area makes up for it. It is quite big and open. I think someone can host an outdoor concert or a wedding. We got to taste about five type of wines (Sauvignon Blanc and few blended red wine). They were all good. I particularly like the 2020 Interlude and purchased a bottle for my sister. We also got to sample from their gallery collection library club that's like 20+ years old ( I forgot the exact year) and that was special. They also have dumplings and spring rolls for purchase. I skip that because I wasn't sure if that would go with the wine. We bought some cheese with us and we had that with our wine. Of course, we asked for permission before bringing in our own cheese and crackers. The gentleman that served us was really nice and friendly. We didn't feel rushed and wine was poured at a good pace. I do want to mention that most winery at Amador will comp at least one tasting with purchase, but not at Di Arie. If you're not a member, be prepared to pay the full wine tasting fee per person.

September 25, 2027 - Plymouth, CA…read more I've been wanting to visit this winery for quite a while, especially after hearing they had pieces of the Berlin Wall. I pictured a few small chunks of concrete on display. Well...they don't just have pieces. They have several original sections of the Berlin Wall, beautifully displayed alongside their outdoor tasting area. I was immediately in awe. Standing there looking at the wall--and knowing what it represents--was unexpectedly emotional. I had just finished a novel about the Berlin Wall, so all that history was fresh in my mind. It made seeing these actual sections of the wall even more powerful. As we tasted the wines, I had a view of the West Berlin-facing side, complete with its colorful resistance graffiti. Walking around to the East-facing side was an entirely different experience. The stark, cold concrete has almost nothing on it except bullet ricochet marks. Seeing the two sides of the wall was incredibly moving. Okay...now for the wine! We did a tasting of six wines for $20 per person--one white and five reds--and honestly, every one was delicious. We liked them enough to buy two bottles to take home, which waived one of our tasting fees. John was our host, and he was gracious, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. He shared information about the wines, the vineyard, and the history of the wall, which made the whole experience that much more interesting. So yes, definitely come for the Berlin Wall and stay for the wine. It's a unique combination of history, emotion, and really nice wine--and one I'm very glad we experienced.

I knew the Shenandoah Valley was pretty but not that gorgeous. They make small batch wines (white and reds) AND hand crafted barrel aged vodka and brandy. Tasting fee $20 for 3 but waived with bottle purchase. Glass of wine average around $14. They also have canned sodas and a small bites menu including charcuterie boards. Please check them out. Relax.
