"Caveat Emptor" Went to Fix-It with Fred for a needed oil change and the air conditioner was…read moreblowing warm air. Dropped the car off told them the problems and mentioned, when braking, the car pulled a little to the left. Later they called with a diagnostic fee which seemed a little high but wanted it fixed. Someone called back the next day told me they had changed the oil and recharged the air conditioning and found leaks at both Schrader valves which they replaced (part of the diagnostic fee I imagine) and I needed $2000 worth of brake work, (front pads and rotors, rear shoes and drums, front calipers, BG brake system service). My response was, "that is a third of what the car was worth, put it back together and the car will be picked up. A total of $2875.81 of work and parts were declined by me. " Just to be on the safe side, two weeks later the same vehicle was taken to another auto repair shop to have the brakes checked, their receipt says "Inspect brakes, approximately 50% -OK". The brakes are working fine. There is probably a large gap as to what is needed for vehicle repairs and what the manufacturers suggests and how much money you have.

I had my truck towed to Irace Automotive over Memorial Day weekend after the alternator failed. The…read moretowing was fast and professional, but the repair experience was awful. They charged me $1,800.81, including $349.99 for the alternator part, $140 for one hour of labor, $644 for 4.6 hours to replace power steering lines, and other fees. Regardless they failed to resolve the power steering leak, which I had already reported. When I picked up the truck, the hood was bent, the prop rod was detached, rubber seals were torn, and tool marks were visible. The steering fluid was still leaking, and the wheel remained stiff. They scheduled a pickup for June 4 to inspect the issues and never showed up or followed up. After a second mechanic found several problems Irace never mentioned, I can confidently say I paid more for careless, incomplete work and now have a truck in worse condition than before.
