I had such a great visit to Ginkgo Gardens this morning. Cole helped me and was incredible from…read morestart to finish. I went in looking for a few low maintenance plants and Cole walked me through several options with real care and attention. I picked up a Hoya Compacta Hindu Rope, a ZZ plant, a Philodendron Lemon Neon, a Bromeliad, a Crassula Jade, an annual, and a six inch Euphorbia Firestick cactus. Every plant looked healthy and well cared for. Since it was a quiet Wednesday morning, I got very personalized attention, but honestly the service here is always excellent even when the store is busy. The staff makes every customer feel valued, no matter how many people are in the shop. The prices are higher than big box stores, but the quality and care of the plants make it worth it. This is easily one of my favorite plant shops in DC and I always leave feeling excited about my new plants. Thank you again to Cole for the great recommendations and wonderful customer service.

The prices at this store was reasonable and I love that they have a rehab cart that has plants at discounted prices. If that is something you're into, this is definitely the place for you. Another thing was that while they do not sell plants by the cutting which I know some do, she was kind enough to offer cuttings that had fallen off that she was propagating. Greenstreet Gardens is one of the few plant shops I physically visit for my gardening needs. Staffs are friendly and knowledgeable, and they carry some of the more common cultivars of Alocasia, Ficus, Philodendron and other Aroids. If you know, you know. As with most nurseries, the indoor tropical plants and succulents are displayed inside the vicinity. There's a small greenhouse across the main building where you can find some of the larger indoor plants. Outdoor in the back, you can find annuals and other seasonal plants. In the summer, they occasionally have succulents out in the back as well. FYI-- If you're loyal a plant parent, who tends to frequently shop for plant supplies, make a rewards card!

In fact, it seems that aside from their young trees, their focus is on smaller plants which makes sense due to the limited space. I do appreciate that they offer young trees and have a good selection of hydrangeas in the spring. They have a good selection of hydrangea trees. The customer service is generally OK. We attempted to remove some ourselves but were quickly overwhelmed by the task. I researched native plant landscapers and came across Swamp Rose Co-op. After reaching out, Jeff, one of the owners, came to do a site visit. He was thorough in his presentation of plans and this February we had them come and do bamboo removal and plant some native trees and shrubs to act as a privacy screen. The Swamp Rose team was amazing! They pulled out over 2 tons of bamboo and roots! They planted native trees and shrubs which are thriving. Our backyard woodland meadow dreams are coming true. We have the team coming back in a few weeks to rip out the standard plants seen in the Silver Spring area (liriope, lilies, weeds) to replace with a native garden and we can't wait. One of my favorite aspects of this company is it is a co-op. The employees can be owners, and those who aren't are still paid a living wage as calculated by the MIT living wage calculator. They do excellent work! It is hard to find a native landscaper but this team is fantastic.

The "substitution policy" is complete bullshit, given they dont even attempt to make the flowers look like what you ordered. These flowers do not look like I spent $82 on them at all- this is at most a grocery store arrangement placed in a vase. I ordered a DELUXE ARRANGEMENT and what I recieved doesnt even have SIX "replacement" roses in it, AT LEAST. It has FOUR. And zero star gypsophila (baby's breath)- which I find hard to believe they didnt have available, given that even the local supermarket has them sold by the bushel. I looked up other reviews and this seems to be a pattern, delivering subpar quality and offering little to no refunds. Im so irate & not in the mood to argue with anyone over this $13 bouquet of flowers that I was scammed into paying $82 for.
