Most of the time their food is exemplary, fresh, high quality, beautifully prepared. Sadly, the last 2 times (within 2 months) I've gone the food was not freshly prepared. It was clear the noodles and chicken had been sitting around. The entrées were tragically microwaved (even the lime and bean sprouts) until the food was a paste. Noodles broken and in a large, mushy clump. The chicken was so dry it was tough. The lime was total piping hot mush and the bean sprouts had shriveled so much there was nothing left to them but a string. I should've stood there to check but I was in a rush. That was the second time that happened to me. My friend and I could not eat the meals either time they just had to be thrown out along with the money we lost. Very sad all around. I used to love going to Ploy's and told so many people about the place. Now I'm hesitant to ever go back. Sadly, the young lady who took my order was extremely rude on the phone and in person. I'd never experienced an attitude issue there before either. We all have bad days but this has now happened twice. The gentleman was lovely and personable. read more

I was a life long Californian & moved to a very tiny town in Mississippi and have not had Thai food in 2.5 years; I was passing through Mandeville yesterday and decided to try and find a Thai restaurant. I am thrilled Ploy's Kitchen Thai Cafe popped up on my search. The woman at the counter - also the cook - was so sweet. I don't eat meat and she said everything could be made meat free and with tofu if I wanted. She even asked if egg was ok before she made anything. They make everything fresh and to order. I knew I wanted Pad Thai since it's a favorite but I wanted something that was a speciality of this restaurant. She recommended the Khao Soi. The Khao Soi is DELICIOUS. I think I found my new favorite Thai dish. Both the Pad Thai (also very delicious, I will get this again too) and Khao Soi were generous portions. Everything was very reasonably priced. I also got the spring rolls. They were so good. The sauce was unique from what I'm used to having in California and I actually liked it so much better. I think it would make a great salad dressing. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about Ploy's Kitchen. It is positively worth going and I told my husband I WILL go out of my way and drive the hour and a half from home to get Thai food from here at least a few times a year. read more

After reading the reviews, we had high hopes for Ploy's. The roti and crab Rangoon were tasty. Spicy basil with chicken and sautéed veggies was mostly onions, three small bits of bell pepper, barely any basil and no flavor. This cafe is take out style, although they do have a few tables for guests to sit and eat at. However, the food is presented in take out containers which my friend and I did not mind. The Karee curry was yum and the sweet roti was perfect. I've missed sweet roti from my past trip to Thailand and was delighted to see it served here! The condensed milk and thin roti taste is a great time. The staff was super sweet and friendly. She gave us complimentary Thai tea which was really lovely. By far the best Thai I've had on the north shore. The Thai iced tea hits on a hot summer day. We got pad see ew and pad Thai, both incredible and packed with flavor. The pad see ew noodles were perfect, a nice light texture with an incredible punch of flavor hitting your palate. The pad Thai also, slaps. Looking forward to going back and trying the curry! We ordered crab rangoons which were truly fantastic and also had pad Thai and the khao soi with chicken....wow! The pad Thai was a hit as it usually is but the khao soi was something new to us - creamy and rich coconut cream sauce with something similar to angel hair if you love pasta dishes. I tried this restaurant twice, The first time I had takeout and it was Pad Thai and it was good. The next time we ordered to go, drunken noodles, basil fried rice, and pad see ew. We had not found just the right Thai food on the Northshore until Ploy's! We thoroughly enjoyed the crab rangoon, the crispy calamari, and the panang curry. The curry is so flavorful and the vegetables in the sauce are so good, not just filler - the carrots and zucchini were fresh and added much to the dish along with generous pieces of chicken. The roti (flatbread) is delicious, light, and enjoyable to eat with the curry (which was a recommendation I'm glad I followed). And the service is so friendly too. I have found that Ploy's Kitchen is the best Thai Food on the Northshore! Swasadee used to be our favorite, but it was sold recently and hasn't been quite the same since. Ploys kitchen has the freshest food and serves the most authentic Thai recipes. You cannot go wrong. Ploy is there to greet you and make sure your order is correct and served hot. I wouldn't pass this by because at this time it is basically take out. Try it you will like it. When it is finally open for dining it could only get better as the food will be served directly to you and mot have to wait to get it home. read more
