One of our go to places to get piercings. We have gone since their last spot farther down San pablo. I have gotten a number of piercings there alongside friends. I got a helix and my nose piercing there they have healed wonderfully and they helped with a jewelry change. Just yesterday the piercer Smash helped with a new helix and giving my friend and nose piercing since I recommended. It was so quick and he was so kind giving advice to a friend didn't know what side to do, he helped us with breathing exercises to help ease the anxiety. Can't recommend this place enough. I think one of their other standouts besides their great piercers like Smash and Kim is their pricing! We came in a group of 8 for the 5 piercings for $100 deal, and they were so accommodating and friendly the entire time :) They answered every question we asked and allowed us all in the piercing room together, allowing us to take our time and work through our piercing anxieties. River was also an awesome piercer and the highlight of our experience. They were super knowledgeable and hygienic throughout the entire process, and so willing to answer all of our questions and concerns. Have been to the Plug when they were down the street for a tattoo and now I took my kiddo there to get his ears pierced. His ears were pierced by Kim and she did good work and my son was thrilled with his ears. After a few days he let us know that one of his ears was bothering him. I had read reviews where the shop will take a look and change out posts if needed. Went back to shop and explained situation and River took care of the issue at no cost. After looking at my son's ears he changed out his piercings to longer posts and it has been smooth sailing ever since. Smash did my seconds and few months later, my industrial. Healing was perfect on the lobes. So far for the industrial, it's been pretty easy despite the reputation they have for hard healing. I'm very happy with placement and everything seemed very safe and hygenic in the realm of sterilization and technique. He used two different needles for the industrial, which I was very happy about considering the seeming trend online of people reusing one needle on industrials (ew). Didn't hurt too much and was pretty efficient. Even though it didn't cost much, they don't cheap out on jewelry at all. My ears are pretty sensetive to cheap metals but everything has gone fine so far with their jewelry. Only thing I don't really like is the long wait times you sometimes get even when you have an appointment and show up on time. I waited for 45 min after my appointment time in order to be seen, which annoyed me a bit. It does make sense though, because they take piercing walk-ins and only have one piercer working at a time. I also don't love the indoor vaping from some of the tattoo artists and clients but it's a big enough building that I think it would only be a serious problem for me if I was in the tattoo area. read more

I got my ears pierced earlier this year at another studio in LA, which is far for me to get to, so I needed to find a piercer close by to check out my infected piercing. I found The Plug while researching piercing studios and saw that Smash had experience dealing with infected piercings. I called to make sure Smash was in, and was able to do a walk-in within 5 minutes. The staff there was very friendly. I can see why he has great reviews because he was so informative throughout the whole process. He also seemed very knowledgeable about what was going on, and it helped me feel more at ease about my situation. He asked me what was going on, took a look at my piercing, and helped me remove it to better assess the piercing. He explained what he thought was going on and reassured me that it wasn't as bad as I thought, which really helped my nerves. He helped drain the piercing bump for me and was careful and thorough. After cleaning everything he put my piercing back on for me, and he didn't even charge me for anything. What a nice guy - seriously! He said that him and his team just want to educate folks on what to know and look out for when getting piercings, whether it be at his studio or anywhere else, and that he doesn't charge for deep cleanings like this. I'm looking to get my 3rd lobe piercings soon, so I'll definitely be coming to The Plug for those and will be referring my friends here too. Idk if I would come back. I used to go to the old location. I was telling the piercer girl that. She got defensive and said smash is the new owner (I told her I knew the old one) she pierced my nose crooked. I already had one side and wanted the other . I orginially got work done here about 3 years ago. I wanted something pretty simple: my son's name and Roman numerals. I had found the shop on Yelp actually! I reached out, inquiring about what I wanted and pricing. They were super helpful! They set me up with an artist who they thought their style would match what I wanted. They were able to get me an appointment the next week with Cesar. When I showed up, the staff up front were super friendly. My artist was finishing up his lunch break, and while I waited, the staff and other artists made sure I was taken care of the whole time. During my actual session, Cesar was great! He really sat down with me and got to the bottom of what I wanted and gave me advice on where it would look best. He was very personable and had great test in music too! I left the shop feeling great about my tattoo and the experience I had. Flash forward to a year later.. I reached out to Cesar again about getting a bigger tattoo on my shoulder. He was very upfront and informed me that he would most likely not be the best artist for the job but he referred me to someone else in the shop who was. For the life of me, I cannot remember her name but she was great! I reached out to her and we spent numerous messages going back and forth and bouncing ideas off each other. She made me feel more secure, as this was a bigger piece and my first piece with color. During this session, she was super patient and understanding. We were doing a tap out session- completing as much as she could in an 6 hour window- she was amazing! Before the appointment she drew up designs that she thought I would like and made sure I was really sold on it before stenciling it. During these type of services, I am normally not one to be very talkative. And she was so understanding of that! There never felt like an awkward silence. Because of the long session, she amazing at making sure I had enough breaks in between. It's also a HUGE plus that they have food trucks/vendors out there frequently so you didn't really have to leave when doing longer pieces like this. All in all, this is an amazing shop. After the most recent tattoo I moved out of the area, but I would and will DEFINITELY be making the trip again if it meant an amazing tattoo with amazing people. My experience was WHATEVER ! I made an appointment online and arrived for my appointment time however I was taken 20 plus min after my scheduled appointment time. There was no apologies for this or anything ! Mind you as the customer we should respect the workers time. With that being said they need to respect their customers time.
