The name says it all. I was a bit disappointed at first. I…read morehad scheduled an appointment for an estimate, although, to be fair, I already had a good idea of what the work would cost. After reading reviews, I knew my decision wasn't really about the price--I was planning to hire Top Tech anyway. What disappointed me was that the estimate appointment had to be canceled that day, and I was even more frustrated by the interaction with the lady on the phone. As a business owner myself, I believe in taking care of customers and honoring commitments. If I have to do the job myself, I do it--I don't cancel on clients who are depending on me. The phone conversation felt rushed, and it seemed like she was trying to get me off the phone as quickly as possible, which I found annoying. However, Zach came out later that same day for the estimate, and he completely changed my impression. He was professional, honest, hardworking, and got straight to the point. It was 92 degrees outside, and I genuinely felt for the guy working in that heat. He provided a fair estimate, scheduled the work for the next day at 1 PM, and then actually arrived two hours early. The quality of the work was outstanding--top-notch service. My brother is an electrical engineer, so I have a decent understanding of electrical work, but he lives far away. I still have a lot more projects to complete around my house, and I will definitely be calling Top Tech again. When I do, I'll be requesting Zach specifically. Highly recommended.

They don't use the info you put into the request, so you have to tell them everything all over again. After that, just hope you're the tech's first call of the day. Otherwise they won't show up until they finish their previous jobs, if they show up at all.

Leak…read moreGeeks were the first to respond to my Yelp project inquiry, but I took calls from others afterwards. The coordinator had their plumber Spencer call me to see if I had any questions after our initial call. I initially brought in another company for an estimate but called Spencer back for a fact check to verify the first company's pricing. Spencer was able to respond immediately with what Leak Geek's pricing would be for the same pricing and said they could get out there within about an hour. I ended up hiring Leak Geeks, and Spencer got here within about 30 minutes of being dispatched. He did a great job identifying where the leak was coming from. It was a worse case than I had hoped for, but he found it. He cut and capped the line so I could still use the rest of the water in the house while the drywall was being remediated and the eventual repairs could be made. He referred a remediation company, American Water Damage, who had an estimator come out, again within about an hour, provide an estimate, and get a remediation tech to come out to move a basin, cut open the upstairs wall, and place fans and a dehumidifier. I'm impressed and relieved that they could get all of this done in the same day. Spencer was friendly and professional throughout. I couldn't have asked for more (except for the leak to not have happened in the first place).2

And although we obviously chose a different plumber, he wanted to offer a complimentary service so we could have a good experience with his company if we were willing to give them a chance. What more can you ask of a company than that they respond professionally to criticism? As I said, if they succeed in improving their communication, Mother Modern was one of very few companies working on the weekend. So if you have a real emergency, hopefully Mother Modern can be at your door soon to address your issue. Original Review: I am only evaluating how hard it is to schedule a time slot with Mother Modern if you do not have a wide open schedule. They were difficult to communicate with, bumped our appointment, and showed up at a random time when we were not available. We have jobs, so we ended up hiring a more professional company that could give us a time slot. If you have an emergency and are *very* flexible, will be home all day, and won't mind if your time slot is bumped, then maybe try Mother Modern. A point in their favor is that they were working on the weekend. We had an exterior leak sizable enough that we had to shut off water to the house. Of course we found it at ten 'til 5 on a Saturday. We fully expected not to get an appt until Monday and were prepared to live without water for a few days. But on Sunday morning we were able to get an appt scheduled for 2 pm with Mother Modern. We then got ready for church, but just before leaving we got a call saying they were in the area and could come now. We said we preferred our 2pm appt; it worked with our schedule for the day. He said that another job had been scheduled for 2 and our appt had been canceled. What?! We had stopped contacting potential plumbers because we had made a firm appt with these guys. He said they could come Monday instead but couldn't give a time window, just that they "will call 30 min prior." You can't even tell me if it will be morning or afternoon on a weekday? Clients are just supposed to be available all day on a workday? Very odd. We wanted to try to find a more reliable company, so we said (in case we couldn't make an appt with someone else) that if they had someone available Monday AFTERNOON, to give us 1 hour notice so we could meet the technician. They sent someone first thing Monday MORNING and gave half hour notice. We missed meeting this technician, of course. The company wants your business, but has real communication and scheduling issues. Maybe Mother Modern specializes in the most urgent of emergencies and expects you to be anxiously waiting on property 24/7 for them to show. So if you're desperate or very flexible, maybe this company will work for you. If you have a job, then Mother Modern might be a headache to deal with. I was starting to wonder if maybe this was considered normal for an area like DFW, but no. The vey first plumbing company we called Monday morning was easy to communicate with and kept our appointment.

I called the warranty company if the request was already approved but the lady on the other end said 24 business hours ( 3 days ) the approval is still under review. Then I disconnected the hose from the water heater and notice that the gas line was also disconnected from water heater exposing the gas line. I called back Firat American Home Warranty about the gas line expose because it was disconnected by Cris of Blue Diamond plumbing. He suppose to ask first the water heater replacement approval before touching the water ( disconnecting the gas line and bypassing the water supply to the water heater). Now I will be stuck with disconnected water heater and no hot water for another at least 3 to ? Days. Really bad customer service. This is not done yet. And the house is in Las Vegas area.

I've heard the business owner speak about his passion and dedication to his business, the technology that they invest in is amazing and truly state of the art. We just had to use them for a leaky sink. I called in before the holiday weekend and scheduled a tech to come out. They told me over the phone to get a faucet and had amazing customer service. The real star of the show was Gary our tech. He was so friendly and thorough. He quoted us for our issue and fixing it ended up to be much harder than anticipated. He noticed two other minor things that he switch out for us and did not charge bc he did not quote us for it. He also cleaned two clogs in other sinks bc I told him they were slow draining. He did this all with a smile on his face even though it was almost 5pm and he still had another job to get to. I will absolutely be using them in the future and referring CR Plumbjng to everyone! They really are a great local business and I feel lucky to have a plumber that I can trust in our area.

They should have told me on the front end the minimum charge was $200. Probably would have still hired them because of their reputation for quality work, but a 15-minute job charging for 2 hours seems a little over the top. That's why I knocked them from 5-star to 4-star.
