I have reached my breaking point with Lowe's customer service…read more My wife and I own homes in both Maine and North Carolina and have been loyal Lowe's customers for years. We are also Pro members. Unfortunately, after today's experience, we will no longer be shopping at Lowe's. I went into Lowe's to return an Orbit water wand that I purchased approximately two weeks ago. The product is defective--it continues to spray water even when shut off. I did not have my paper receipt, but I provided my information and explained that I am a Pro member and have a MyLowe's account where purchases are tracked. The associate spent more than 25 minutes attempting to locate the purchase, even after confirming on her device that it was the exact product sold by Lowe's. What should have been a simple return turned into an unnecessarily frustrating experience over an $18 item. I then asked to speak with a manager. Instead of coming to customer service, the manager responded over the radio that they were "busy out back" and never came to address the situation. What disappointed me most was not the defective product--it was the complete lack of customer service and accountability. Customers deserve better than being left waiting and ignored when they ask to speak with management. I've shopped at both Lowe's and Home Depot over the years, and the difference in customer service is night and day. In my experience, Home Depot has consistently made returns and customer concerns straightforward and hassle-free. I rarely post negative reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I felt compelled to share it. Lowe's has lost not only my business but also my confidence in their commitment to customer service. If Lowe's wants to retain loyal customers, management needs to start paying attention to what is happening at the store level.

It's always a struggle to find helpful employees at Lowes or Home Depot…read more This morning I had the pleasure of having Mike from Lowes in Scarborough, Maine in hardware at aisle 15 help me with cutting a strip of plexiglass. Kudos to Mike!!! He's a seasoned employee with a knack for true customer service. Thank you Mike- God Bless you

Let me start by admitting that, to me, this Lowe's and this Lowe's…read more(https://www.yelp.com/biz/lowes-home-improvement-portland) are nearly the same place - in layout, in availability, in staff, etc.. And, if I go to one, I usually end up going to the other immediately afterward to see if they have what I was looking for if the other didn't, so I think I've done this mash-up to myself. Things I like about the Brighton location: 1. It's always less busy than the other location. 2. The parking lot is less chaotic as a result. 3. When "the mall" location is out of something specific (like the white ceramic allen + roth indoor planter I'd like ALL my flora friends to be in), Brighton usually has it. 4. I don't know if they're actually smaller than "the mall" location, but they've got an impressive selection of outdoor plants (flowers, herbs, veggies) in Spring/Summer. 5. I think the staff here is nicer. Things I like about both locations: 1. Using the outside register. Things I don't like about either locations: 1. They're horrible inside registers (both the self check-out and the ones with people). Things I like about Lowe's in general: I think Lowe's as a corporate brand does a good job at seasonality. Unlike Walmart, the Dollar Tree, and even Target who, for example, have their back-to-school stuff up by early July and have already transitioned completely away from anything summer/patio/gardening, Lowe's doesn't. Some of us don't have our gardens planted by Memorial Day, so I appreciate that I can still get my mint and dill "later" in the season, I guess.

The very lovely woman at the exit asked us if we found everything ok and I thanked her for asking and for saying hello... very very disappointed... could have been a decent sale but I guess they don't need it. My husband and I shop here pretty frequently. I wanted to give them a quick review, since one of…read morethe employees was very helpful last night. We bought a sliding glass door from the Lowes in North Conway (we are right on the ME / NH border, so we're close to both). It didn't come with any instructions, but our contractor knew how to put it in, so that was fine. After it was put in he was slightly freaking out. He said that the door had to put been put together incorrectly at the factory as there weren't any drainage holes at the bottom. The employees at the store in N Conway were very rude and refused to call us back. So when we went to this one to grab some boards my husband told the employee about this situation, and asked for advice. He told him that it does have the drainage holes at the bottom. There's a cover you need to pull out that will expose them (he showed him exactly how to do it), the wheels on our door are also broken. He told him that if it is in fact brand new (Which it is), then if he had gotten it there they'd let him just bring the door in and they'll give him a new one. Instead of putting different wheels on which he said can sometimes be a pain in the butt to do. I'm slightly bummed that we didn't get it here (in Windham) now. We can't seem to get a hold of anyone at the lowes store we bought our sliding glass door from. Yet were able to get an answer from this employee pretty quickly.

While I don't like leaving negative reviews, especially for a store staffed by people from our…read morelocal community, my experience this morning left me with no choice. I arrived around 8:30 a.m. when the store was quiet, intending to purchase four outdoor light fixtures along with several solar lights. I approached two associates in the lighting department to ask where I could find a specific fixture, but it was obvious I was interrupting their conversation about weekend plans. After multiple attempts to get assistance, I gave up and searched for everything myself, hoping I was buying the correct products. When I finally made it to self-checkout, one of the light fixtures scanned $40 higher than the shelf price. I waited for the self-checkout associate, Deb, to approve the price correction. She walked away, came back, helped several other customers around me, then walked away again without ever acknowledging that I had been standing there waiting. It wasn't just me who noticed. Other customers were shaking their heads and commenting about what they were seeing. After spending nearly 45 minutes in the store without receiving even the most basic level of customer service, I left my entire cart behind and walked out. Five minutes later, I was at Home Depot. Within minutes, three associates asked if I needed help and personally walked me to the products I was looking for. I purchased everything I needed there instead. For more than 20 years, I considered myself a loyal Lowe's customer. Today, that changed. Lowe's lost a $559.78 sale, but more importantly, they lost a customer who genuinely preferred shopping there. The contrast in customer service between the two stores could not have been more striking. I hope someone in store leadership reads this, because this wasn't about one pricing mistake. It was about feeling completely ignored by employees who simply didn't seem to care. That's something worth fixing.

Knowing the store was far closer than the store the dryer was purchased, and having been a customer a few times since moving in the area, I went inside and asked the man working for what the installers rommended...an 8 ft "soft" dryer hose. (The distance from the vent to the machine is pretty close to 8 feet so the hose needs to use its full length). I am advised "it is illegal to buy or sell soft dryer hoses in the state of maine but we have a few hard ones over here". Assuming this man wouldn't outright lie to me I believed him thinking it may be a newer law that the installers wouldn't know about.Go home, fail at installing the difficult to maneuver hose resulting in the thing actually unraveling. I call my husband who tells me I believe in people too much and comes home with a soft dryer hose and installs it without a fuss. If he had been honest and said you didn't have any in stock you would have lost my business for the day. Now you've lost it for life. Hope it was worth the $9.99.
