Things I like about "the mall" location:: 1. It seems like the flower/herb/veggie selection is more abundant/are more available longer into the season. Things I don't like about "the mall" location: 1. The other shoppers here seem way ruder/way more in a rush than Brighton. 2. The parking lot is in the top three most chaotic in Greater Portland. Things I like about both locations: 1. Using the outside register. Things I don't like about either locations: 1. The horrible inside registers (both the self check-out and the ones with people; why are they SO SLOW?!). Things I like about Lowe's in general: I think Lowe's as a corporate brand does a good job at seasonality. Unlike Walmart, the Dollar Tree, and even Target who, for example, have their back-to-school stuff up by early July and have already transitioned completely away from anything summer/patio/gardening, Lowe's doesn't. Some of us don't have our gardens planted by Memorial Day, so I appreciate that I can still get my mint and dill "later" in the season, I guess.

I always held Lowes in high regard, but this last go around with online order for home delivery was…read moreterrible. I purchased 6 Bonnie Plants; two each of two types of tomatoes and two bell pepper plants. The order arrived in two boxes via FedEx. One box was missing its bottom so the driver solved the problem by ignoring the "This Side Up" imprints and delivered it upside down. The internal packaging, a clear plastic clam shell designed to secure the pot and plants in the larger carton were broken open, potting soil fallen to the bottom of the box and plants badly wilted. The second box was crushed on the side, similar contents with burst open containers, plants broken at the stem, dirt all over the inside of the box. It is a 20 mile round trip to Lowes Windham, ME the reason I ordered from the Lowes website. Customer service solutions offered, they said we had three options: 1) Put all of the damaged plants in a new boxes, wait for FedEx pick up, they will determine refund or replace after inspection. 2) Take the worst of the plants down to Lowes (20 mile round trip) and they will replace those. 3) Receive a 10% discount for the inconvenience of damaged good being delivered. So $3.60 on the $36 useless order. I opted for option 4. Toss the Lowes order in the trash, take the hit on $36 as an educational expense, and purchased new plants at Paris Farmers Union.

Visited for the first time recently to pick up a gift card someone purchased for my husband. Plants are nicely spaced and divided amongst bushes, perennials and annuals. I look forward to returning and using the gift card.

I went to the Steep Falls Building Supply the sunday after thanksgiving because when my new dryer…read morewas delivered the hose was too short. Knowing the store was far closer than the store the dryer was purchased, and having been a customer a few times since moving in the area, I went inside and asked the man working for what the installers rommended...an 8 ft "soft" dryer hose. (The distance from the vent to the machine is pretty close to 8 feet so the hose needs to use its full length). I am advised "it is illegal to buy or sell soft dryer hoses in the state of maine but we have a few hard ones over here". Assuming this man wouldn't outright lie to me I believed him thinking it may be a newer law that the installers wouldn't know about.Go home, fail at installing the difficult to maneuver hose resulting in the thing actually unraveling. I call my husband who tells me I believe in people too much and comes home with a soft dryer hose and installs it without a fuss. If he had been honest and said you didn't have any in stock you would have lost my business for the day. Now you've lost it for life. Hope it was worth the $9.99.
