PNC bought BBVA Bank. Tried to use the. BBVA ATM this morning and PNC had switched to their software a few days early and my BBVA debit card did not function properly. Called PNC bank and got the run around and placed on hold for 20 plus minutes when I asked for a supervisor. Cannot recommend this bank. read more

This is the worst bank of all times. No matter if you do all the work and provide proof of everything, all claims are denied with no reason. I have called more than 10 times about issues with my account and all I get is I don't work on that department, I am u sure of how that works, I can have someone call you back or I can give you the number. All the responses has equaled me losing out over $1500 from unauthorized transactions and over $400 in NSF fees. I feel this is not a bank but a scam company that finds ways to siphon money from people. I have only kept the account open this long because I am still trying to fight almost a year old transaction that PNC won't help with. Their customer service call center is full of I just clocked in for a check and not to do my job people. Hopefully this helps others not waste their time or money. This is not a review entirely specific to the branch office, but a review of the bank itself. STAY AWAY! TL/DR version - we closed our account, and they told us it was closed, but later we got a letter that our account was overdrawn. We tried again to close it. They wouldn't do it over the phone because they said they couldn't accept money from anything except another PNC account! So we went into the office to pay the balance (just internet subscriptions we actually do have, not the overdrafts which they waived, thankfully), but were told AGAIN that they could not close the account. This time the reason was that the cash transaction we paid to bring the balance back up to zero was still pending until tomorrow! That's right, at PNC apparently IN-PERSON cash deposits are not instant. Or they were lying to us just to prevent us from closing account. Neither option invites trust and confidence. Long version - PNC bought Compass bank, my wife's bank. After going into the office to try to get access to her newly transferred account, she was told that she couldn't speak to anyone unless she installed their app. The app wanted permission to access literally everything on her phone. Texts, photos, phone calls, etc. Stuff a banking app shouldn't have to have access to. Also, do you really HAVE to own a smartphone to be a customer at PNC? I know they're ubiquitous these days but that seems ridiculous She said she was uncomfortable doing that, and she just wanted some money from her account. She was told "that's our procedure" and that she would have to do it. She decided she would close her account instead. The bank manager cut her a check that said "final payment" on it and claimed that the account had been closed. It wasn't closed. An internet subscription hit her account, and they just allowed it to go through, and charged us an overdraft fee on top of it (which they later waived). When I called, the customer service rep said the account WASN'T CLOSED. Furthermore she said she could not close it because it had a balance still due, and that she also couldn't accept payment over the phone from a different bank! We would have to go into a branch office, pay the outstanding balance, and then they could close it. After an hour of very frustrating call escalation up to the supervisor, he just repeated the same ridiculous line. So we went to the branch office pretty much immediately. We paid the balance in cash and were told we could get a written statement that the account was closed and we would incur no further charges. But after we paid the balance, the computer refused to close the account yet again, because the CASH TRANSACTION that paid off the balance was still pending. Supposedly we will be able to call tomorrow morning and close the account. But even if that happens, I would sooner do business with gangsters than this bank. I'm thinking we may have to take them to small claims court just to prove that we demanded the account be closed. Because even if they TELL us they closed it tomorrow, we obviously cannot trust them to actually do so. read more

WARNING!!! DO NOT BANK WITH PNC!!! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. PNC and BBVA are absolutely horrendous banks to deal with. They made a (an admitted) MISTAKE and froze my bank accounts. After 2 months of nearly daily emails and international phone calls, they are yet to unfreeze my accounts. They have no explanation and simply keep leading me on to think it will happen tomorrow or next week. I've had no access to my money for 2 months but luckily I also bank with another(much better) bank so I'm able to survive. I can't imagine what I would do if I needed my money that's locked up with PNC to pay for my mortgage, car payments, and most importantly food for my family. PNC are an absolute disgrace! Their team members even agree with me that the account was wrongfully frozen but won't take the measures to fix it within an acceptable time frame. I've been specifically dealing with a guy a who is supposedly "high up" in the rankings but is completely full of it. He's assured me he would take care of this as soon as possible and that unfreezing an account typically takes 3-5 days max. Hmmmm... 1 month later after being assigned to him and I'm still being fed a bunch of BS with no results. I'm writing this review to inform others so that no one else will have to go through what I'm dealing with now. It's horrendous and no one should wrongfully be kept from their own money. PNC is the absolute worst bank to bank with. We were forced to bank with PNC when we were switched from BBVA. I would call PNC with questions about my online banking and no one could answer my questions. I kept getting "we don't know" answers from them. My daughter used her new PNC debit card once and it was fine. Tried using it again and it got declined. We called PNC and they said "we don't know why it got declined". They told my daughter to go to a branch. Don't call customer service because they don't know anything and going into a branch isn't much better. With we could go back to BBVA. It took over 4 months to complete a Home Equity line of credit. Now less than 1 year later I want to pay it off and can't. I have to snail MAIL a check and a letter stating I want to close the loan account. There was no option at the branch and no option online. I am being charged over $1000 in fees just to close the account and being charged interest for the time it takes them to close it with no certain time frame. Worst banking experience of my life. I go through nothing but trouble just to access my account often. whether to check statements or make deposits in a local branch.. when I had to log in my phone was lost and it kept sending me verification codes or calls to it. PNC debited my checking account for a mortgage payment I had already paid a week before. They did this without my consent. I was a BBVA customer and I never signed up for automatic payments on my mortgage. PNC did this unilaterally and without my consent. They have not reimbursed me after 3 days and when I call I just get bounced around. Reading many social media comments it seems PNC's practice is to enroll people in automatic payments without their consent. One thing is bad customer service and another is stealing from customers. read more

My mortgage was recently sold to PNC bank, (not my choice but I was not overly concerned) I have been with them a little over 1 month and they just pulled my mortgage payment twice! Normally I would say accidents happen BUT my sisters loan was sold to them at the same time and the exact same thing happened to her almost a month ago. She is still waiting on her refund!!! After calling them to complain we were told they have to hold the money for a certain number of days before refunding it. A mortgage payment is not a small amount of money. In my opinion they should have to return my money to me within 24 hours since it was their mistake. This is obviously something they do on a normal basis. I have already called my mortgage company to request a refinance immediately. If you must use PNC, Do not let them auto deduct your payment. They cannot be trusted!! read more

I have tried to contact them, and while on the phone with a customer service representative, I got hung up on- not to receive a return call. Do not get a mortgage through this bank. I wanted to change what bank my mortgage payment came from, so I went online and set up a new autopayment (note, nowhere on the site does it say if you set it up at the inception, you have to fill out paperwork and cannot do this online). Next month, payment was attempted twice out of the bank I no longer had funds in (I call that Bank A). Contacted customer service, they said I had to fill out paper form. Did so, and faxed it. Next month, attempted out of Bank A twice again. Called customer service, they couldn't find my fax, so it never got changed. She assured me she took care of it. Next month, happened again. Talked to two customer service reps and they confirmed it will not happen again, yet the second attempt happened again after I talked to customer service. They said, wellllll, it is set up to do it automatically a second time and we have no way of stopping it. Um, you mean to tell me that if a customer notices you took it out of the wrong account and is trying to stop a second attempt, you have no way of stopping it? I find that hard to believe. I have no confidence that this is fixed and I'm going to have to close that other account. Also, they said they would not be able to reimburse me for the overdraft fees incurred at Bank A ($210). read more

I became a PNC customer after they acquired my bank, BBVA last year. The merging of accounts was an absolute disaster at every level. To many problem to list here. During the merger I could get no phone support for my Buisness accounts or personal accounts. The customer support lines instructed me to go to a local branch for assistants. Went to several branches only to find lobbies filled with disgruntled customers, filled to capacity with long extended wait times. After long waits only to be told we're having problems and cannot help you, call customer service. Hmmm really? Customer service is non existent. Went into a branch in Tucson today to have a legal document notarized. After waiting & waiting in an empty lobby the banker looked at my single page deed release and told me he could not notarize the document. Bank policy only allows him to notarize legal documents prepared by PNC attorneys? Hmmm really? This would be funny but the banker was serious. Todays visit underscores a very important point for me. MY MONEY IS NOT SAFE IN THIS BANK WITH THIS LEVEL OF INCOMPETENCE!!!!! The disappointments never end. Based on my banking experience with other banks both buisness and personal this is by far the worst. Customer service is so predictable; no no no and can't can't can't. BBVA had really great people but an organizations values starts at the top. Where do I begin...I too was part of Simple/BBVA and it has been an absolute nightmare of an experience dealing with this archaic, corrupt institution. First, I had an online bank for a reason...so I didn't have to deal with in-person banking and have a reliable PAPERLESS way to manage my finances. Fast-forward a few years to this nightmare of a experience and apparently they decided to enroll me in paper statements as a default. Annoying, yes, but where it gets real fun is they charge you $2 each statement. Well...since I had such a fun time dealing with the previous bank migration (BBVA) I moved all my money out and had a zero balance...so now I have a negative balance (-$4 for two statements...more on why I have two vs. one in a moment). So...the first thing I do is try to opt out by going online. Nope. Information is wrong because you have to reset your password to a new format. Cool. I'll just call. Wait time? 20 minutes+. More like 40 minutes. Every. Time. I. Called. Finally, I reach a human. That human tells me I cannot close my account because...wait for it...it has a negative balance. I ask if the charges can be refunded after giving the short version of a long and frustrating experience. NOPE! Refund denied. Fine. I'll pay the balance. NOPE! You need to go in person to a branch or pay using your online account. Good times. So, now I will be closing my account once my external account is verified/approved. That would be SoFi. They are pretty cool, though not as cool as Simple. What else will I be doing? Copy and pasting this review everywhere I am able. Difficult website and not a user friendly payment system online. My account was locked out and the system didn't give me the option of resetting it because it didn't recognize my information which forced me to have to contact customer service which was extremely hard. I then find out my account was closed because of inactivity of 90 days. They never contacted me to ask if I wanted my account closed. I was not in arrears and didn't owe them any money, and they charged me my yearly account fee but the automatic closing of my account affected my credit score negatively anyway. How do you close someone's account just because they haven't used their credit card in 3 months when I paid my yearly card fee! I would not use them again nor would I recommend. read more

Since the switch I've had my back account hacked into 3 times, when that happens they turn your card off without any sort of notification. They ate not open on the weekends for me to go to the nearest branch that offers same day cards is an hour away. I have been with serious medications I desperately need because I have no fucking way to get MY MONEY. Customer service is a joke. There app I'd so shitty I can't even get to wear I see my account numbers so I can pay bills. i needed to make a deposit for my sister account and first couldn't find a branch close to me that had tellers. apparently only customers can do business at a "solution center". what an extremely stupid concept. finally, I get to a branch with a teller and realize I forgot my phone at my office, which meant I didn't have the account # with me. I asked the teller if he could look up the # for me and make the deposit- refused and said they don't do that. I didn't ask for him to give it to me, just deposit the check, especially since this would be the third PNC location I stopped at. another ridiculous rule. These guys are leagues worse than any other bank I have ever dealt with. Where to begin? Their website is slow, clunky, often broken, and confusing. ATM machines are incredibly slow, noticeably slower than any other I have used. You'll be waiting for minutes to do a transaction. Bad rewards, no reason to use them over the competition. Customer service is trash. They will give you the run around for weeks on end, and eventually will just blow you off and hope you forget about your issue. When I paid off an auto loan PNC lost the first check, so my new lending institution sent a replacement. PNC took several weeks to post the payment resulting in my first late payment to anyone ever. This dropped my credit scores by over 100 points with all 3 credit reports. After finally posting my payment I was notified that I had paid too much and PNC sent me a check. I am still struggling to correct my credit scores and have been turned down for an auto loan by several other institutions due to this problem. read more

I was with BBVA Compass for years for my business , and had no problem until pnc took over. Their system of business is like 1975 . These days every transactions is electronic and there is no need to wait for your deposits to be clear . at Pnc your deposit wouldn't be available to you for 24-48 hours . try to call their customer service good luck , you be on hold for someone to answer 30-40 minutes. read more

I changed banks because after viewing the information on PNC's website I believed they would better fit me than my old bank. I was WRONG! PNC has horrible mobile checking and over draft protection. Pnc completely lied to me. I applied for a home equity line of credit that closed in December. The lender asked if I wanted to do a rate lock to take a draw, because I wasn't going to take one. I did, the construction project I had plans to use the funds yet has not even started. All of a sudden, after investing the money and needing to take short term capital gains, they tell me that it was a 6 month introductory rate lock. Warning. Do not open a savings account here. I opened a high yield savings account, but they don't tell you that you can only transfer up to 10k per month in or out. I understand they're concerned about fraud, but this makes the savings account completely unusable. I hate to write a bad review - in this case they Earned the rating. PNC was a good bank for me until I had to deal with the fraud Protection unit. There is no protection from fraud at PNC. They provide a form of reactive response at best to a crime. I used the alerts on my account. I called at the time of a fraudulent transaction. Within an hour of the activity coming up pending, not yet posted. I was informed they could do nothing until it was posted. Then after a month they informed me they believed it was legitimate, and charged my account. I was never contacted for details - just charged. Within days of the first account being hacked, someone charged a 3600.00 generator to my account. Again I called as it was being transacted. Unfortunately it was a friday afternoon and they had left for the weekend. Again they informed me it had to post before they would react. 3 days wasted. I had to track down the transaction with what little information PNC would share about the merchant. I called the police and stopped the delivery as it was happening in another state. All while PNC waited for it to POST. They are simply letting people steal the money and waiting to go after them. PNC policy and actions are inadequate to protect you in today's world. The decision to charge me for the reported fraud is ludicrius. I guess I paid for the right to leave this review. Your money is NOT SAFE in this bank. read more

Never had any issues when dealing with BBVA (3 years). right after we got moved to PNC it was trouble so we just paid off our daughters car we had financed. Tha was in October 2021. We still can't get our title even though they dhow our account satisfied and closed since November. My wallet was stolen on 9/25 and I reported it immediately to PNC and to the police department. PNC allowed the thief to make a purchase for $1000 on my debit card WITHOUT my PIN. It took me four days to get assistance with that. Then, after telling them and giving them the police report number, they allowed a criminal to walk into a bank branch and withdraw $1,900 of my money while forging my signature. I discovered this, and have been calling PNC for one week with no help. Today, a customer representative called me to tell me she was so sorry but it will be 120 days before PNC gives me my money back. All of this despite PNC negligently giving my money to a criminal. I had a client cancel his account after payment was drafted. He filed a dispute and PNC returned his payment and debited my checking account. Then I ordered a product off a website which the company never delivered. I filed a claim with PNC and they ruled in favor for the vendor. Explain how this can be fair in any way? Never use PNC bank! I never wanted to work with them, but my mortgage got sold to them so I was forced to. I have had them for about 2 months and I really wish they would tell my mortgage to someone else. When they got my mortgage, I also got a different property insurance company and I paid for the entire year out of my pocket. I called PNC March 1st to tell them that I want to remove property insurance escrow off from my account and that I already paid for it. I talked to three people in one hour and I was told by donna, courtney, and Mona that my payment would drop by $371 a month. Then they turn around and decided they were going to write a check to my insurance company too! So then they put my escrow account in the negative by over $2,000! So now I'm still waiting for the check from the insurance company for reimbursement, so I can cash it and pay the escrow balance. Then! I find out no, my monthly payments not going to go down by $371 a month. Most likely it's only going to go down by $188 a month. I looked at the breakdown of the monthly payment with the principal, interest, and escrow. They're going to have me pay in almost three times as much into my escrow than what they need for my property taxes! And then when I refuse to pay that amount, they basically tell me they can't make the payment lower. Thats the biggest load of crap! So I told them since they can't do simple math, go ahead and take my property tax escrow off to and I'll just pay it myself.
