Trash on the floor and under tables. I had to get some napkins wet at the water dispenser and wipe the table down myself, and it was not that busy. Went to use the restroom to wash my hands after cleaning the table and there was no toilet paper OR paper towels in the women's restroom. Had to use the men's to wash my hands. Really disappointed in this experience honestly. When a restaurant is dirty in the seating area, it makes me wonder about the state of the kitchen.

We placed our order at a counter, paid upfront, and then were given our drink and a number to take to a table of our choosing. The weather on that day was very rainy, so we sat inside the greenhouse rather than outside, and the employees carried our foods over in containers with lids. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Peach Berry Stuffed French Toast - 4.5 stars - This was a weekend special. Challah French toast was stuffed with lemon mascarpone, peaches, and mixed-berry compote. It had a large serving size and a nice mixture of sweet and sour flavors. Bloom Salad - 4.5 stars - This salad contained mixed greens, sliced apple, dried cherries, candied pecans, gorgonzola, red onion, and maple balsamic dressing. Available for purchase were jewelry, flower pots, many types of indoor and outdoor plants, and much more. Two employees kindly offered me assistance with the plants. I loved seeing the exterior of a hobbit house, although it was too short for me to go inside. Please note that this business will hold a Tolkien-inspired Hobbit Fest on September 12, 2026. The festival will include live folk music, local artisan vendors, themed cafe foods, alcohol vendors, activities such as a costume contest, etcetera.

I'd often stop and pick up something on my way home to the South Side Slopes. I recognize that its been a long, long time since I lived in the Southern Side of the city. I haven't been here regularly in years. I still enjoy stoping by. The last few times, the service was - I hate to say this- not good. I really do hate to say that. The reason people loved this place was because Louie, Toni, & their staff were friendly and made it an experience. Long gone are staff that made anyone in Pgh feel welcome. The last 2 stops in, I felt like an inconvenience. My orders weren't correct each time. One was a to go order. I specifically asked for things to be done a certain way because I was ordering for my husband & kids. I chalked it up to the time of day & blamed myself. I did not look it over since I was trying to beat traffic... this is a classic place. It has to be me. Not them. I had an hour break and decided to stop in. Again, staff ignored me when I ordered. It took up that entire time to get served. It was awkward. My meal was lackluster, at best. My mind wants to believe in this place and that their stuffed bananas, zucchini and chicken sandwiches will never change- but I think they have. Originally I ordered one chicken and one vegetarian but the kind woman waiting on us said they were out of vegetarian. When I walked in there was one party of 2 people already eating. After I ordered, another party of 2 walked in and ordered right away. After about 20-25 minutes she came out to that party and told them they didn't have everything for their original order. I was still waiting on my 1 empanada at this point. My husband has stopped in to grab uncooked/frozen empanadas to bring home and have for a future meal. He also waited 15+ minutes for these to be given. The empanada was delicious, small for the price but good. Luckily they do have a child's entertainment corner if you are waiting with children but the wait is just so incredibly long for not much. It's hard to justify stopping in.

It took more than 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged and the place was not busy at all. Thankfully there was a kids corner with both a play kitchen and a train table, which meant that my kids were at least somewhat entertained while we waited. For my coffee this morning I ordered a large dulce de leche latte and my wife ordered the same. After 40 minutes we still had not received our coffees and we had not even paid yet. At that point we decided to leave after letting the worker know we no longer needed the drinks. The bottom line for me is that I probably would not stop by here again in the future. No matter how good the drinks might be, I cannot justify a 40 plus minute wait for coffee when there are several other good coffee shops nearby.
