I've been driving by the spot for years and finally it went in to try it. The restaurant doesn't look like anything to write home about when you walk in but the food really wasn't bad. The spinach feta dip was a lot of cheese and garlic and not so much spinach. However it has a nice flavor to it. The Athena platter with the roasted red peppers, chicken, rice, olives, and lemon sauce was surprisingly tasty. To be honest, the place was a bit of a letdown. The food wasn't super authentic. It was a lot more American than it was Greek. But, it wasn't too bad either. I got to try their chicken gyro and spanakopita (spinach pie). The chicken itself was pretty good. Not too salty and not too fatty. Seemed like real chicken, not mystery meat. However, the gyro or tzatziki sauce itself was a huge letdown (surprising to me because I usually love the sauces). It's made with sour cream instead of yogurt, I believe. Tasted fatty and kind of bland. Pita and vegetables were OK. It was mediocre. The spanakopita was equally not all that stellar. I will say, the portion is pretty nice, and it was crispy. Tried this place multiple times for take out since moving to the area and have officially marked this as a no go in my house. The hummus is significantly underwhelming in every context - the flavor is severely lacking and the texture does not help. The steak sandwhich was disappointing. I have never had a soggier sandwich. I cannot understand why the bread was not toasted. Fries are underwhelming as well. The spinach pie is good but not good enough to warrant placing an order at this restaurant again. I stopped by here a couple of days ago with my former coworker for lunch. We both happen to work in the Moon area and were trying to think of a place for lunch whenever I remembered Mike and Tony's. It's located right off of University Blvd in the Giant Eagle plaza in the building that used to be Groundround for a long time. The inside of the restaurant was bright and clean with a number of tables and booths as well as a bar with a bunch of TVs on top. On this afternoon there was a sign that said seat yourself and my coworker and I chose a 4 top with views of the TVs. Beyond the inside, Mike and Tony's also has a patio with outdoor seating at this location. For lunch on this day I decided to go with the chicken gyro with fries. The menu describes it as marinated chicken with lettuce, tomato, onion and gyro sauce on a grilled pita. It comes with fries which is what I chose but for small upcharges you could have either the house, onion rings or Greek salad. Our meals came after our to us after maybe a 10 minute wait and looked pretty good. The gyro seemed stuffed full while the fries were in a cone shaped vessel. My gyro ended up tasting quite good as the chicken was flavorful and the gyro sauce (tzatziki?) was plentiful throughout. Since it was stuffed so full, about half of it ended up falling onto the plate and it wasn't just me as it happened to my former coworker as well. Then my fries here were also good as they were super crispy on the outside while still having a soft interior. I did notice that they were only lightly salted which I appreciated. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. Both my former coworker and I enjoyed our food and were eyeing up the patio for whenever the weather is nicer. read more

Came here for lunch on a Friday and it was fairly busy, but we were able to get a table right away. I got the gyro and there was a lot of meat under a mountain of lettuce! I was able to make my way back to Mike & Tony's again this past weekend. I think the gyros here are pretty solid and for $11 not bad. It was loaded and came with a decent amount of fries. Service wasn't the best, but it was getting busy and maybe that's why. My son didn't think his gyro was as good as mine was. My mother ordered potato skins as her meal. The size of the potatoes was comical. They were just a little bit bigger than a golf ball and cost more than my gyro. What I didn't like was that their beer list had no prices on it. Mike and Tony's is just a great place to grab a gyro or some delicious pork souvlaki on a platter. They have a nice draft beer selection and bar and their wait staff is very efficient. Their bathroom was pretty dirty and towels were almost overflowing the can so that's an area they could improve a bit. We love their food though so we'll be back. Stopped in for lunch on a busy Thursday... Quickly greeted & seated, but then service took a bit. They have an interesting menu loaded with Mediterranean style food. I opted for their gyro. Started with their wings and they're interesting, loaded with meat and they're fried to have a bubbled skin or something, they sure were crunchy. Their spicy Greek wing sauce wasn't very spicy at all, it was simply feta and Franks hot sauce (Frank's ain't spicy). Their sauce on the gyro seems mayonnaise based instead of being a real tzatziki, which was very odd. The gyro needed extra sauce because the meat was very dry and somewhat over-cooked. Their cole slaw was just OK. But their onion rings were absolutely amazing! Next time I go, because I'll definitely return, I'll grab a burger... their burger look pretty legit. read more

Most of the time, a very solid choice for gyros, wraps, and salads. My husband and I come here about twice a month and enjoy both the food and the service. Unfortuntely, today was not one of those times. Perhaps there was a new cook because my husband's gyro was not as "filled" as it was a few weeks ago (and on prior visits as well) and the pita was also hard, as though it was stale or had been on the griddle longer than necessary to heat it. I was in the mood for something different so I ordered the turkey burger. It was not good at all. It was a 1/4" thick patty (no exaggeration) with one slice of tomato, some onion and shredded lettuce on a very dry roll. Now I know to stick to the salads or the wraps. And something rather uncomfortable. About 10 minutes after we ordered, a server placed a plate on our table and left before we could ask her what it was. Phyllo dough, feta, spinach... maybe spanakopita? We looked around to ask someone and, not finding anyone close, we started to eat it. After the table behind us was served a little while later, they asked where their spinach pie was. Oops! Served to the wrong table! They laughed with us and told the server not to bother replacing it. Unfortunately, the spinach pie ended up on our check. When I pointed this out to our server, she told me that we ate it. Well, yes we did. But I said that we didn't order it and asked to have it removed from the check. It was done and all was good. If someone had been around to ask we would have, but also a month or two ago we ordered our dinner at another restaurant and were comped an app because the kitchen was running behind. Before that, a Chinese restaurant gave us a dessert to share just because we are regular customers. A review of the spinach pie is not positive. I have had spanakopita several times and love it, but this was not as good as most. There is a heavy sprinkling of dried Greek oregano on the top and even though the feta filling was very good, the phyllo layers were dry and the layer of oregano made it seem even drier. He said I'd have to call Uber Eats since they delivered the food. I asked why because it wasn't their fault the lettuce was all brown to the point I had to throw the salad away. Came in on a Monday for lunch at 1PM. No crowd, which was welcome as I had a 7 year old and my grandmother with me. Everyone enjoyed their food, including a burger which our server made sure was cooked the correct way (very well done). Our server was so kind and understood my subliminal signals when I insisted I was the one to receive the bill, even though Grandma wanted to pay. I love this place! My brother lives nearby, and he recommended when my dad and I came for a visit that we try Mike and Tony's for lunch. The restaurant is really modern and trendy, with nice big TVs, perfect to watch sports games. All of the employees are so friendly, and our waiter was quick on refills and getting us everything we needed. My dad and I split the feta & olive plate (a GREAT deal at only $2.95 for a nice portion!). I decided on the traditional gyro with French fries as my entree. The gyro was full of meat, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The tzatziki sauce was out of this world. I highly recommend visiting this place for lunch or dinner, game time, or a night out with friends - it's perfect for college students and families alike. My preganancy cravings have been through the roof and all ive wanted for the last week was a good Gyro. I live in Robinson so when i found out there was a M&T's in Moon, i was estatic. I went on a tuesday night, was seated immediately, placed my order and less than 10 minutes i had my gryo and fries. Now the fries werent the best but my gyro was delicous. I would normally go to the location on the south side. I believe their portions are better. Moon slices their meat really thin east carson has the thick slices and idk why but their fries are better as well. I will still continue to come to the Moon location bc it is convienent but if i had to choose 1, i would to go the one on the South. read more

I went here the other day with a co-worker. We were seated promptly. The location is very clean. We started with M&T pierogies. They were so delicious. The feta, hot sauce, and mountain of gyro meat was fantastic! I always go for the classic gyro, no onions with fries with cheese. Our food, including the appetizer, came out really fast. The food was hot and the flavors are great! The servers were all quick on their feet and pleasant looking. No one likes miserable looking staff, and everyone here was wearing a smile, including the host. This was our first trip to the Moon location. Went here yesterday with my son. He loves it here. He always gets the greek gyro. We went in and the sign said seat yourself. Every table was taken other than one, which was dirty. The waitress eventually came over and wiped it off, so we sat down. I ordered the reuben to share with my mother. We each also got a Greek side salad. The salads were really large and full of good stuff. Lots of feta and kalamata olives. The reuben was crispy and well made. My son's gyro was huge. He's a big eater and took half with him. But he did finish out reuben. So the food was really good! They were short on help. Apparently only 2 servers were working. It had cleared out as we started eating, but we weren't able to get refills on our water. She also never came back to check on us. When we finished and she came with the bill, we asked for 2 more waters. She did bring one, so the three of us shared. read more

The was my first encounter at the Moon location. I usually go to Southside. I ordered a standard Gyro and Onion rings instead of fries. The service was average and the food was cool. The gyro is a standard M&T gyro, full of meat and loaded on the pitta with tomato, onions and lettuce. I feel like the meat was a little different then Southside. These meat slices were thinly sliced and all even sized, as if it was possible pre-sliced. The Southside location carves the meat directly of the spinner, so the meat is a bit juicier there. I opted for onion rings instead of fries. The O rings were massive and beer-battered.They were good, but they were full of grease. They have a few wall TV's to watch the games as well.
