We're driven to Cannon Beach and on the way home the car started sputtering and losing power. We called PNW at the last minute to see if they could get the car in for evaluation and they were very accommodating. They diagnose the problem had to order some parts and completed the repair and a timeline fashion. I took my Audi S5 in for the 50,000 mile service. The customer service rep was very friendly and professional. However, the tech only did the oil change and tire rotation. He apparently missed the note to complete a 50,000 mile service. He also said he couldn't install the spacers for our custom wheels because he didn't have the proper tool. I was called the next day and told that they did not do the specific 50,000 mile service. They were very nice about it and scheduled me for the day before I was leaving town for a month. I was told to expect it to take 2 1/2-3 hours. It took almost 5 hours! We got back from our trip a few days ago and while driving the car, heard some very disturbing grinding/rubbing noises. My husband crawled under the car and found that the belly pan was barely hanging on. It is not installed in the correct location and has incorrect fasteners in several places, as well as many missing fasteners. It also contains a fair amount of gravel. How does that happen? Since they already had two chances to get it right. My 71 year old husband decided he should do it himself. It is a shame that the office staff are so wonderful, while the tech just cannot seem to get it right. The value for the work would have been good if only they could have done it correctly the first time. I could even forgive overlooking the note and making me come back a second time if it hadn't taken so long and still been done seriously wrong. Had my jeep towed to PNW Automotive. Had 4 different mechanics tell me beforehand what it might be. Kept raising price after approval. Wanted an hour's labor at $159 to move 2 bolts to replace battery that didnt need replacing. Told them no to that one. Then they wanted to replace the serpentine belt (that didnt affect getting the motor to run normally). Which ultimately they didnt put on right and is already fraying. They did the oil change but underfilled and didnt bother to put sticker on windshield to know when its due next nor filled washer fluid. Operationally the jeep is iffy after over $2,000 labor and they didn't replace all of the rocker arms/lifters (normally if one is bad all are replaced). I used to detail vehicles full time, but because of a recent badly broken arm injury I decided to have them detail my jeep which sat over winter. To say it was half done is an understatement. Loose dirt in every cubbie/door compartment etc. The outside was filthy from sitting at their dusty shop. Whatever they applied to seats to clean them they used so much that they left it in seats and it hardened the seats. And, without bothering to say something before (which I would have either taken care of it myself or shown them a trick) that they couldnt get dirt/mold off steering wheel, they mechanically stripped my steering wheel! When I texted them about it they kept trying to excuse it basically that it was really dirty and they didnt want me driving an unhealthy car. And, they suggested I get a steering wheel cover like what the heck. Firstly, they should have replaced the steering wheel to make right what they damaged. Number two, I told them that because of my broken arm/ligaments I cant just simply do steering wheel cover. And since then, theyve ghosted, even after telling me they want it in at 500mi to check their work and they dont schedule it for that. Apparently they want their bill to be around $25k instead of making right what they oopsed on. Almost a complete waste of $2,500. And here they want people with high end cars to trust them with their rigs. read more

In addition to spending $4k to replace the transmission on our '98 suburban, the vehicle is at a front end shop. The shop just informed me that after replacement of the tie rod ends, (done in Astoria at PNW Automotive) no alignment was completed. The upper ball joints were replaced and they left the lower ball joints intact, which are shot. Now, we are looking at another $1100 just to fix and align the front end, then to replace the tires. This place is not even worth one star. They said they had fixed my car once and they hadn't so I took it back..then they told me the part couldn't be gotten for months on end. After months of this, I contacted another place who could have the part within five days. So I was charged yet again, so that PMW could put my car back together for towing. They offered a salvage part or a used part only when I informed them that I was having the car towed for repair. I'm over $800 in the hole because of these cons. BEWARE! Where to start, these folks are beyond awesome!! We broke down while on a camping trip. First they let us park our trailer overnight as we rounded up friends who could come and pull us home, they then had the repair done within a week even though their lot was PACKED with customers. Repair was very fairly priced, they vacuumed and wiped everything down during covid AND left ME a thank you note complete with Halloween candy and a bottle of hand sanitizer. Nov 8- Made initial call to PNW Automotive to schedule an inspection and diagnostic on my van. Nov 9- I reviewed the estimate for the inspection and approved the work. Made appt for Nov 15th Nov 14- I have the van towed to the shop for the appointment the next day I meet the receptionist and give her my keys she said she will contact me when they complete the inspection. Nov 29- I called the shop asking for an update I am informed that they forgot to send me the results of the inspection I was upset and asked why I wasn't contacted while my van sat in their yard for 15 days, they reply that they were very busy but would work on my van right away if I approve the estimate. She sent the estimate for $1800 and against my better judgment I approve it, my reasoning being that I had already paid to tow it there and already owed them for the inspection. Dec 7- I called for an update. The receptionist put me on hold to go ask a mechanic I'm informed my van will be ready tomorrow the 8th no call from them the 8th or 9th. Dec 12- I call for an update. The receptionist put me on hold to go ask the mechanic, she comes back on saying that they are all busy I tell her that I am very frustrated and upset with this situation I expressed that my customers are asking me why I can't deliver and I'm having to tell them my mechanic is not doing what they say or is expected of them. She apologizes and says she will have a mechanic call me as soon as possible. The business owner calls me and says if I'm planning on talking bad about them around town or write a bad review that they will refuse to work on the van it is then that she informed me that the reason they haven't worked on it is because they have lost my only key to the vehicle. I asked when the key was lost and they couldn't tell me. I ask why I wasn't contacted and they got defensive and it seemed like the owners were mad at me. They accused me of not approving the work in a timely manner and they kept online records of it all. After the owner realized her employees never sent me the estimate and what I was saying was fact she left the call and handed it to a mechanic named Jeremy. I told Jeremy that I thought that they were being extremely unprofessional and trying to make him understand that my vehicle is how I make money I have now lost planned business opportunities, soiled my reputation with my customers, I made $6000 less this month then I would've with my vehicle. Christmas is around the corner and all my plans have now been canceled I'm extremely frustrated and now considering a civil case to recover some of my lost funds. Dec 13- called for an update and to tell them that they lost my only key I asked for a timeline no answer I asked what has been done on the van no answers. Jeremy calls me back angry that I'm wasting their time now they won't answer my calls I don't know what to do. They had my car for 2 months, they didn't even have a diesel mechanic on staff after saying they were the only "diesel specialist" shop around. Then agreed to let us keep it there until we could get it towed after a storm and then backed out on us last minute. This place is nothing but a money grabbing shitty business. Jeremy and Ashley are amazing! It was my last day in town, and my TPMS light came on. I had a feeling that one of the front tires may have had a nail in it, but there was no way for me to confirm that this was the case because all tire and automotive shops that I looked up were closed on Sundays. This was a huge issue for me, because I had to check out of my hotel the next morning, and it wouldn't have been safe to drive 100 miles back home with the light on. I was desperate to find an automotive shop that could take care of the issue right away, and I came across PNW Automotive. It was my lucky day. They took me in right away, found a nail in the right front tire, and they immediately took care of the problem. They were so welcoming and even let me play with their cats while I was waiting. Because of them, I was able to enjoy my last day in town and drive around freely without worrying about automotive issues. It also saved me a trip to a local automotive shop the next morning, which would've delayed my departure and took several hours to get a technician to diagnose and fix the problem (assuming that I would've been able to even get an appointment or see a technician the very next day). PNW Automotive is welcoming, knowledgeable, friendly, and trustworthy. And they are open on weekends, when ALL other shops are closed! They serviced our car, adjusted the idle which was problematic, vacuumed the interior and we received a thank you note. After such a great experience with an emergency repair, I took my car to PNW when it just wasn't running right. One $1,600 transmission repair later, I drove it home only to find two different check engine/transmission lights flashing. I called the shop and arranged to bring it back, then had to call the shop several times before hearing anything. Jeremy apologized, citing staffing difficulties. Having owned a small business, I told him I understood and just needed communication. He had taken quite a bit of time diagnosing, and said last time the transmission fluid was dirty and likely had gummed up a solenoid (so why not change the fluid in the first place?). I authorized a second repair, and finally got a call saying it was done after a further delay because the supplier had only sent some of the parts needed. I couldn't pick the up that day or the next due to travel and illness. Several days later, I went to pick it up during their opening hours, only to find no one around (except another customer also trying to pick up his vehicle). We banged on the doors, called several times, and texted the other number listed on their sign for texts. Zero response. I have to drive an hour EACH WAY to get my car, and am not a happy customer. Bottom line: the mechanic work seems solid and the prices fair, but organization and communication are very poor, at least at this point in time. I hope this nice young couple aren't victims of their own success. read more
