Here is my contribution. It's really hard when A mechanic is telling you need all these things and then you find out you didn't and Infact they never even did the work. They just claimed it. Don't feel dumb . It's not our fault. People take advantages because our lack of knowledge .So pay close attention . This started yesterday. We took our boat in because it wouldn't go in reverse. This shop said they needed time to check it out. We left it there. came back a few hours later. The mechanic came out , he said he had to do a tune up and replace a bunch of parts. I never asked them to do anything. I stood there as they showed me it turned on exc... 400.00 later. !!! I really couldn't find a way not to pay. I never asked for the work but they said I didn't tell them not too either. I paid it , took it home. This morning . Woke up excited . Got ready , the boat wouldn't turn on. Come to find out they didn't replace any parts , and they didn't do a tune up. Infact the boat doesn't run at all. I'm out of 400.00, plus a new battery for 120.00 (they recommended I needed.) Why are these stories so common? Why are some mechanics so shady!!! My boat doesn't run at all now. My family was expecting a nice day at the lake with this heat . Now we are just sitting here sad. No money , no boat. This place pretty much ruined our summer.

I finally decided to take it to a Honda Mechanic to see what they could do. Eagle Marine is fantastic. They troubleshoot the issue, figured out what was wrong. They gave me a list of things I had to get fixed, things I should replace since we were going into the engine and things That I could replace but didn't need to right now. I talked over all of the options with them and just had a good conversation on what they would do if it was their boat. No pressure to go any route, just good advice and common sense. Berryessa boat repair is awesome. Brought my Basscat to them for a no start issue. While we were letting it charge and just talking boats they basically did a overall inspection of the boat without me asking at no charge, and found that the steering linkage was loose. They repaired it at no cost. they also Pointed out a few things to keep an eye on that are common to my boat/motor. will definitely be doing business with them in the future

Next trip we discovered the fuel pump was bad and they replaced it quickly AND replaced the polluted gas(had water in it). To top it off my trailer wheel started smoking driving home from their place and I had to pull into Pridmore storage lot so as not to lose the wheel/cause more damage(thank you Pridmore for being so kind too). Jerry replaced the bearing while it was still at Pridmore's and did it in one day so we could get out on the lake before this great weather goes away. These people care and are true experts on Boat and ski repairs.

We saw that they opened at 8AM on Saturday so called a little after 7 and left a message about our interest in the boat, by 8:30 we hadn't heard anything and called multiple times to all the numbers listed on their website. After not hearing back we decided to make the 2 hour drive out to the shop since we were serious buyers. Had cash in hand and everything. After viewing their website we thought it was like any other boat shop, instead it ended up being a shack at the dock. We called several times before arriving and not a single call back. After arriving we kept calling still no answer. Finally left, after 20 minutes back on the road the owner calls, we state how unhappy we were to drive all that way and not a single person was there nor did they answer any calls, his excuse was that they don't open until noon. When I pointed out that their website posts 8am and the sign on the door stated 8am he questioned me like he didn't even know what time they opened. How do you own a company, publish your hours and not even know what time you're open? I just hung up on him. A few minutes later his son calls, again stating they don't open until noon, then has the nerve to say we should call first. Well buddy, we did. Both to the landline and the two cell numbers posted on their site! We ask about the boat we saw advertised and he tells us then that it had been sold over a week and a half ago. What kind of business are they running? Post hours they don't know about, won't answer any of their four numbers listed, then leaves a boat sold on not just their site but another site as well? So not professional!!
