We had a positive experience with PODS -- used it for storing most of our household items for about 9 months during home renovations (not for moving). The container drop off and pick up were easy to schedule and reschedule (we rescheduled the delivery several times, once with less than 24 hours notice), the phone customer service people were helpful, the pod was very clean, and our stuff came back exactly as we'd packed it. Considering the terrible, rushed job we did packing up glassware, etc, we were surprised nothing was broken. No water damage or smell of anything having been wet during the storage period (we worried that the hurricane might have soaked our pod). Clearly, we had relatively low expectations. Negatives: (1) We had problems several times with re-scheduling deliveries through the web site, and had to resort to calling customer service (who were able to help us quickly and smoothly). (2) The pod delivery was about 2 hours outside the scheduling window. And (3) it was pricey -- the cost of storage added up, especially when we needed our pod for months longer than expected. However, based on my limited research, the price was about the same as (or maybe better than) storing items with similar companies -- and overall, it was worth the convenience of having our stuff picked up and dropped off. We would do business with PODS again, especially for short term storage. read more

my husband is a disabled veteran after 20 years in the military. what pods did for him, was drop it off facing away from our hise yesterday, refusing to stop when my husband pointed it out. "not my problem, call for a ticket". he has to pay loaders more to carry it out into the street. nothing but lies and broken deals for us. by dishonest pods. read more

I scheduled my POD container to be delivered on the 12th of November. It did not arrive. I called that evening to see what the hold up was. I was told they couldn't locate my container as it was not at the original warehouse and that someone would be in contact with me in the next hour. No contact. I reached out again on November 14. Spoke w a supervisor. He apologized and said they found my container and i would have it delivered on Nov. 18. No container showed on the 18th. Got a voice message that it would be delivered on the 19 due to unforeseen circumstances. Here we are on the 19 and still no container. I call again. Agent said they can't confirm where the container is and it is now scheduled for December 2nd for delivery then he hug up on me. I am sure you can sense my utter frustration and disbelief that a company goes no contact and changes their delivery without any notice or communication. I am now in my new home without my container of belongings for 3 weeks. Very unprofessional. Users beware. read more

So far we have been happy with the Fredrick PODS company. Pros: * * Good Customer Service; Olivia in Clearwater, Fl was very helpful this am. Gave us a time frame of hours and even a possible target time. **Trucking assistant: Kevin was prompt, helpful and professional. He called prior to arrival and was well within his time frame. He gave us the instructions for opening and locking the unit and answered any questions we had. **The POD was deposited where we needed on our driveway with the door opening toward the garage. Cons: **No call the night before delivery **Confusion as to where the truck was coming from; Fredrick, MD or Washington, DC The only issue I have that could have shortened his time with us was if customer service asked in which direction we wanted the door/opening. The POD could have been loaded the requested way verses having to reload it on the truck in the desired direction. FYI - Make sure you read the packing instructions, hints and hacks - the truck does move a bit when it will be picked up for shipping. I believe it will save your precious items any damage or harm if packing is done correctly. read more

Awful, terrible, horrible customer service. PODS has not been able to tell me where my PODS are for three weeks now. When I placed my order in May, I was told they would be delivered to the Frederick storage center. On myPODs, it said my PODs were being delivered to the Frederick storage facility. Fast forward to 7/3, delivery guy calls and says "your PODs aren't at the facility, sorry." I call CS and they say my pods are at a storage facility in Hyattsville, I drove an hour to said facility for the manager to say, "your PODS were never here. didn't they call you this morning to tell you? We can't find them." That was a week ago on 7/10. To this very hour, the PODs are still showing at that same facility in Hyattsville. I've spoken to seven CS representatives and my case has been escalated to Lyle who sent me a rote, cut and pasted, generic note about investigating my incident yet he has not returned any of my four phone calls or three emails. I was also charged over $500 this week for storage b/c my missing PODs are apparently being stored at an unknown location; the same PODs I was supposed to empty two weeks ago so they shouldn't even be in storage. This is the WORST customer service experience I've ever had in my life. I'm going to post this on every social media, customer support and review site until someone bothers to find my PODs or gets in contact with me. read more

I didn't use this particular location but it doesn't matter because their employees and policies are representations of the entire company. 1st The Sales Rep really wanted my business; she 'beat' the competitions price to store and transport the POD from Northern VA to Northern CA. Well it turns out this sly salesperson didn't add on the insurance in order to 'beat' the competitions complete (rate plus insurance) price. Then when I noticed after the 1st billing, I called to bring to her attention, giving her the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was just a processing oversight. Nope! The bastard lied and then told me it was company's policy not to add insurance coverage after the fact. I argued with her, telling her that is bad business not to honor our original agreement and then impose policy gibberish when it clearly doesn't fit my circumstance. Not happy because now I have to fly back out to VA move my things out of the POD into a moving truck and transport my things over 3k miles by myself! read more

I too, would give zero stars! I will NEVER consider using PODS again. Once they take your credit card information for payment, good luck getting a hold of anyone. Their customer service is AWFUL... the absolute worst. They made a huge mistake, and later CHARGED me for it! I did, however receive a very half-hearted email from Dawafina Maclaryn, Universal Customer Service Representative, PODS Enterprises, Inc., 5585 Rio Vista Drive | Clearwater, FL 33760. She essentially tried to blame me for their several mistakes, and offered no consolation for the money that I wasted on their service, whatsoever. Never in my life have I felt more out of touch with an organization... All phone calls are automated, all emails go through their website. I am regretful for the EXTREME levels of dissatisfaction the PODS organization provided with me, and caused six hours in the midst of a very stressful move to be completely wasted. If you are moving, and live in a city, rent a UHaul. Do not choose this company. They are unprofessional in every sense of the word. read more

I've never been forced to write a bad review until now. Do not use this company. Terrible service and then terrible, nonexistent customer service. Customer service is located in Florida, and they have no authority or control over local deliveries, which may even be done by independent contractors. If something goes wrong there is NO way to get it fixed. Customer service will not even give you the number of the local "managers", who don't take direction from customer service and don't even answer their phone calls. We were given a window between 1130 and 230 on Saturday. The driver called before 8AM (waking us up), asking if he could come early. We tried to be accommodating and told him we would check, but told him our no parking permit was not valid until 9am. The driver then came and left before we could meet him at the delivery location claiming that a car was parked in the space. Customer service was then unable to do anything, and told us (after multiple attempts) that the local manager would not agree to a re-delivery on Saturday, and because they don't deliver on Sunday and Monday is a holiday, the next day they could deliver was Tuesday, which is after my lease is terminated. read more

Years ago my sister had an awesome experience in Delaware with PODS - my experience was comically bad, but with very nice people that were incapable of helping me. Disorganized, poor communication, poor instructions, but really nice call center staff. Our driver was very nice too. But the middle layer of management is completely missing. Two representatives had me on standby for a 3 hour window to meet them and pay for a POD that someone towed (from my neighborhood with no rules against PODS), I took off work per their regulations so I could meet them at the site with 15 minutes notice and pay for it and no one ever called me. They picked up the unit - no one ever notified me. I was still waiting for another two hours like a fool. I found out they picked it up when I called back for the second time in one day, once they were late. read more

PODS worked very well for me for a coast to coast move. All of my things arrived unshifted inside the pod and on time. PODS uses a good amount of space to drop off and pick up.... make sure your street can accommodate before you book a pod. read more

I wish there was an option for zero stars. This is by far the worst company I have ever ever dealt with in my entire life. Everything was fine while we were storing our unit even with a few minor hiccups. Now, here comes time to redeliver our unit to our new place. Between my husband and I calling, we told them 10 times (I am not exaggerating) when we were moving and where. They could not get the address right and kept telling us it was a long distance move when it was only 70 miles, if that. So, two days ago we think they finally have it fixed. Nope. I get a call yesterday that my container was on it's way to the new address. So this is the 5th date they told us instead of the ONLY one we gave them which was the 21st. Mind you, they told my husband 2 days ago that the unit would be moved to a DC facility on the 12th and we would not be charged. Well, I just checked my acct and they charged me $426. Are you kidding me?! I'm done. Stay far far away from this awful company! Their call center is a joke. read more

I scheduled my POD for my move from DC to Chicago approximately 7 weeks ago. I was scheduled to have it picked up on 12/22 and delivered to Illinois on 1/1, available for movers to transport my belongings from the storage facility (PODS are not allowed on city streets in Chicago) to my new apartment on Jan 2. I asked at least 3-4 times when I was scheduling if they were taking the holidays into account when they were scheduling this and I was reassured that yes, the POD would begin transport on 12/23. Fast forward to Dec 20, the day after my POD was delivered to DC. I received a call that evening from their transport company stating that my transport was rescheduled, would begin on 12/26 and not arrive until January 2nd. I wouldn't be able to access it until Jan 3. They stated that they were not doing transports on 12/23 because of the Christmas holiday, and continued to repeat that they needed to reschedule because of Sundays and holidays. Given that Sundays and Christmas happen every single year, I am unclear why it took until after my pod was delivered and I was in the middle of my move for them to realize this. The transport company told me there was nothing they could do and I needed to contact PODS. When I contacted PODS, they simply repeated that they were sorry, but it was the transport company's fault. They initially offered me a 10% discount for the inconvenience, then after realizing they had already charged my credit card for the full move, told me that it was not possible to refund me anything, they could only give me $25 (that's right-- twenty five dollars) as an inconvenience fee. If a company contracts with another company as in this case, they are still responsible for any mistakes that company mistakes. After all, PODS decided to contract with this transportation company, clearly has poor communication with them, and is therefore responsible for the delays and inconvenience this causes their customers. I signed a contract with PODS, not two separate contracts with them and their transport company. If they are having difficulties with their contractors, it is up to them to deal with that, not up to the customer to go back and forth between the two, listening to them each blame the other for their poor communication and customer service. I will now be delayed moving into my apartment and have to reschedule movers for the beginning of the month, which is the busiest time for moving companies. Obviously there are many things that are infuriating about this process but the biggest ones are that 1. I asked multiple times for them to double check their transit times and delivery dates to make sure that they were correct given that this was occurring over the holidays. I would have either moved earlier or used a different company had I known. 2. They waited until AFTER the POD was delivered and AFTER my credit card had been charged the full amount before informing me of the change. Even though when I was on the phone with customer service, they noted that they were made aware of the scheduling error FIVE days ago. Conveniently, unlike every other company in existence, they cannot "refund" anything charged on a credit card. On top of all of that, when I asked if I could speak with someone who actually had the ability to do something about this issue, I was told that all I could do was file an incident report. It would take A WEEK for someone to even send me an email about it and 1-2 MONTHS for a decision to be made about whether they could refund any of my money. Super convenient given that I am getting on a plane TOMORROW to move halfway across the country. Edit to my review 2/9/18: - I responded to the PODS yelp account as requested and heard nothing back from them. - I did eventually (today) get a phone response regarding my "incident report" to be told that they do not believe they did anything wrong and my request for a refund was denied. read more

Can I give 0 stars? This was the WORST moving experience I've ever had. First, our contract said our 3 PODs would be delivered on Wednesday morning. When we called Wednesday afternoon to find out where they were, they tell us they will be a day late. Where was the communication on this?! Then we find out that they left one of the 3 PODs in a different state. Thursday, we had hired movers to help move the heavy items out of the POD. We ended up paying them to sit for almost 4 hours because the two remaining POD deliveries were late. We called over and over again and got nowhere. Customer service was so rude and unhelpful! They never apologized, much less offered to help. They said we could get the last POD delivered in two weeks (after Christmas!). Two weeks and a major holiday without kitchen utensils, my bed, clothes, furniture to sit on, etc. And I'm supposed to be okay with that? They wouldn't let me speak to anyone in the resolution department and said that I would have to file an incident report and wait 30 days for someone to call me back. Just unbelievable! As a young professional, I and my friends will likely be moving frequently. I will make sure they know about this experience. I will NEVER do this again! Fellow Yelpers beware! read more

I highly suggest not not using this company unless you can be there to supervise pick ups and drop offs of the POD. I got tied up at work and the driver just basically dumped the POD as quick as he could, turned the completely wrong way making it a huge hassle to unload. I called to have it fixed and was told since I wasn't there it was "at the drivers discretion" and I'd have to pay to have it put where I wanted it. I will never use this service again. read more

This is a review of the Pods - Frederick location. I had storage in 4 of their large pods for about 8 months. My requirements were out of the ordinary as I had my moving truck come to the Pods location in Frederick and offload then reload the pods there. I was concerned that coordinating the logistics of this would be a problem. However, on the morning of the move all 4 pods were put out in time for my moving van arrival. The manager of the location was very helpful and even coordinated where to store my pods inside based on the number of months they were to be there. This minimized removing them constantly. When it came time to ship 2 of the 4 pods the manager again assisted me in making sure that the correct ones were selected (I had to get correct pod numbers) to be shipped. Very helpful. The move was coordinated through their 800 number. Once I had the correct pod numbers provided by the manager this went off without a hitch. read more
