I have been a customer for a few years now. The people there have always treated me well. The facility is clean and I feel that my stuff is safe there. The only issue that I have is that the cost goes up every few months. For someone that is on disability, the price increases have become problematic for me. read more

If you are in the business of buying abandoned storage units from this facility you might was well keep your money, we won an aution for two units from the same owner, when we went to pick them up we found out that they had consolidated both units into one ( totally illigal to begin with) Facilities can not touch the items from the storage, they can only take photos from the outside because if the owner goes to pay for what he owes he is supposed to get his units as he left them and they would of been in big trouble. apparently on the move of the one unit to the other they stole over 20 pairs of shoes that the owner had in marked boxes, when confronted with that information they got mad and refused to give the cleaning deposit back, they only returned the money after we threatened to call the police to get it sorted out. So do yourself a favor and do not bid on their units if you do not have a bad day dealing with all that illegal non sense. read more

I like the Storage Space and it convenient to where I live but when your price goes up every 6 to 9 months is ridiculous especially when you been a long time customer. I think it time for me to shop around. They should be trying to help people with this Time of Covid because some people don't have homes and they put their stuff in storage so they wouldn't lose it. But they are making it hard for people to get one or even rent one. They are going to lose business because other Storage places are offering better deals and are not raising prices on people during this time. read more

Opened up my unit yesterday to finally move my belongings worth over $10,000 to my new home after 2 months and i come to find mouses, poop from mouses, and my stuff torn to pieces! I am disgusted about this place. Oh and mind the manager dis not even come to talk to me nor bothered to call us about this matter!!! I am very upset and overwhelmed that i wont have a table or couches for thanksgiving. My family is coming to town to our new home without furniture. If you are looking for a place do not rent here! Our unit was climate controlled, and the facility in terms of cleanliness, condition, and security met my basic expectations. However... Pricing is high in my opinion. Our rate for the 1st month for a 10x15 unit was half-off, which was helpful. For each month after that, our costs soared to nearly $400/mo accounting for taxes. Even for a climate controlled unit, we felt that this price was steep. And that was with some kind of discount I'd requested to incentivize me to use Extra Space over the numerous other companies in the area. Also, learn from our mistakes: Carefully review the procedures for cancellation... the employee who did our rental paperwork zipped through this section, and I didn't retain the note about 7 days notice PRIOR to your actual move-out date. Plus, the staff requests a bit of time to verify your unit's empty (e.g. so you can't empty it on a Friday eve after you're done working, and their office closes... if that's the final day you've paid through). We ended up paying for an extra month than we needed. Our availability to get out there again & fully empty the unit was limited for various reasons, but our unit was emptied a full week prior to the final date we'd paid through -- no reimbursement for that time even though Extra Space probably got to double dip and accept a new renter on top of what we'd already paid. If you need a ton of flexibility because of your living situation, work situation, or whatever the case may be, this might not be the place for you. It wasn't for us. The other thing that really bothered me about this place is that when I first sat down to do the rental paperwork on the 1st day, the employee who went over the contract with me requested that I do a review. I thought she meant at the end of the process, once I was a satisfied customer. No... she wanted the review right then and there, even took my phone to direct me to the exact place she wanted my review on google. I deleted the "tip" I put on yelp that day and have replaced it with this honest review based on my actual experience with the facility, rather than the check-out experience alone and my initial impression of Extra Space's facilities having not so much as parked our moving truck there when she wanted our review... My thought is: if you have a great product, coupled with great service, there's no need to pressure customers into writing great reviews in the spot. I don't plan to be a repeat customer here. read more

I'm a repeat customer of this location. Rented a 10'x10' unit for a few months last year, with no complaints. We compared prices of about 6 storage businesses in the area before choosing this company/location; the only one cheaper was another 5 miles further from where we live and the one closest to our condo was 30% more/month (we went with this location since it seemed like a good compromise in terms of price & convenience). It was clean, and the music playing in the hallways made unloading/loading items as enjoyable as the task can be for what it is. The only thing that was annoying was when other customers parked their cars right beside the main doorway into the building/hallway, so if you needed to wheel in/out a cart of stuff you'd have to wait for them to come out to politely ask them to move--obviously inconsiderate, lazy people are not Extra Space's fault, it is just the world we live in. FYI, prices vary GREATLY from one Extra Space Storage location to the next, so if you care about price, be sure to compare instead of assuming 'same company, same price.' 3 of the 6 storage places we compared in our area happen to be Extra Space Storage...ironically one was the highest, one was the lowest (for the same size unit, all the competitors fell between the cost of this Frederick Rd. ESS location and the most expensive Extra Space). Since the price is slightly below average (of those I considered), I feel it is a good value. When looking for a 5'x10' unit this go round, we decided to return, since our 1st experience had been good. Similar to the previous situation, the only other location cheaper was twice as far (only a few miles difference, but not worth it to me). read more
