My family and I were moving into our home and used the services of this company in order to store some of our items until we officially moved into our new home. The initial drop off was fine and they came back the day that was requested to pick up our pod. Fast forward a few months later we moved into our home and they dropped off our pod, the time moved from when they were originally supposed to drop off the pod but it was still delivered the same day. A few days go past and our requested pick up day comes and the pod was never picked up. So we checked the status of our pick up and it was changed to the next day and the time frame given was earlier in the day. That time came around and once again the pod wasn't picked up but the time frame changed again to a much later time (6:15-9:45pm) and once again the pod WAS NEVER PICKED UP! Finally my mother and sister called to see what was going on because when they got on the website to see the status of our pickup it was changed again to mid day and an hour or 2 later it was moved to the next day. My mother spoke to the corporate office in Utah because she didn't want to be charged for the days that the pod was just sitting on our property when they were supposed to pick it days ago. They stated that they NOW couldn't pick it up until tomorrow. If you are keeping track, this will now be day 3 with no pickup. My sister called the manager at this location and left him a VM because she wanted to know what was going on and when was someone coming to pick up the pod because it's blocking the road and we live in a neighborhood that we can be fined for this being on the street too long. The manager then stated that they were trying to find someone to come and get the pod today. Most likely it will be this evening. My sister then told him that on the website it's saying the pickup was due to happen tomorrow. He then said they would come and get it today around the same time frame they told us yesterday evening (6:15-9:45). It's now 9:29 and no pickup up truck on site. I highly recommend that you don't deal with company in general; and if you don't have a choice, then don't deal with this location. I will be taking this matter to the BBB because the corporate office is no better than the managers at this location. And they conducted themselves very poorly and they all seem to be confused and not able to communicate well on the matter. read more

This has been such an awful experience that I created a yelp account to leave this review. Our pod was dropped off (and someone was available immediately when we needed to book), but we CANNOT get them to come pick it up. We are in DC and our street permit for the POD expired two days ago. They marked it as picked up although it was not, and we waited on the phone for TWO HOURS before someone answered at 10:30PM. They were supposed to come this morning and did not show again. We called again and they allegedly scheduled it for this evening. I've just checked the dashboard and it has now been rescheduled to tomorrow evening (3 days late). I do not think they will come before the POD will be towed, at which point we will have to pay god knows how much to access it. Created a Yelp profile to help deter people from using this location. if you are moving within the DC city limits DO NOT USE. Delivery was never completed. They kept pushing the window until they totally missed our delivery day. With zero communication as to why or when it would be resolved. We were unable to speak to a supervisor; the call center is unable to reach the warehouse to schedule the move. PODS has cost us hundreds of dollars in moving inconveniences and huge headaches. Can't strongly recommend enough that you look elsewhere for your moving and storage needs. read more

These people are crooks. They have marketing efforts going on at 100%. The service delivery is actually around 50%. I cancelled my order when I became uncomfortable with the way they handle contract signing, credit card security, and overall service. I learned that multiple customer account numbers had been set up by them and after I paid and signed the contract online it could not be located. Don't trust this firm. It was supposed to be dropped off on Wednesday, 25 November. I took off work to make sure they placed it exactly where I wanted and I lined up movers to offload the container... I waited... and waited... and waited... only to get a call at 4:16 PM to let me know they weren't going to deliver due to a sick driver... "No sh!t", I say... :-) Now, we are rescheduled for Saturday, 29 November... time moved three times and I waited...and waited....and waited... never showed up, never got a call... So I called and spoke with a nice Customer Service rep So it's, Monday, Dec 1st. PODs System says it was delivered... and it's clearly not... So I called. we're rescheduling for delivery on Tuesday, Dec 2nd... crossing my fingers on delivery... Not holding my breath. Meanwhile, I'm getting delivery charges on my account and the timeline for renewal (14 Dec) hasn't budged.... It's a money pit that you should avoid!!! read more

I would never recommend PODS. The folks on the front line are probably well intended folks, but the company is totally disprganized. Moving is so stressful to begin with, but their failure to be able to commit to getting the container to you when they say AND pick it up when they say seems to be a shell game. And if you live in an apartment building, count on needing to block off at least two, if not three spots. They won't tell you are explain any of this to you. My POD is now sitting in the lot of a condo building where I don't live anymore, with my belongings, in 95 degree heat, and it's going to be 4 more days before they can pick it up! Since I have moved away, I can't be there to check on it at all. Everytime I called with a question I got a different answer. Finally I did get someone who knew what information I really needed to know, and that saved me, but only the day before the move! read more

We are using PODS to facilitate a move from a DC college dorm back our home in NC. First, we are grateful to PODS Moving & Storage for being able to accommodate us short-notice the week of Thanksgiving. So far, we've only had our POD delivered, moved into, and picked back up from the DC location. Five stars go to our Driver, Justin Williams! He was extremely courteous, kind, and patient with what became a difficult campus drop-off. He came up with creative solutions and was highly professional and communicative with our Family the entire time. We were not physically present for either the drop-off or pick-up, but Mr. Williams very quickly built our trust to put us at ease regarding keeping our schedule. We took off 1 star in this review for the overall experience. That automated system or whatever PODS uses to send customer notifications via text & email does not update in real time. Many times throughout that day, we received emails/texts that conflicted with the information communicated by our Driver, or with the actual status of the move. This was very confusing for us. Also, we ordered the upgrade for same-day delivery & pick-up, and once the Driver's schedule ran late, the notification system kept re-timing/rescheduling our initial drop-off service (triggering new & wrong updates) to make sure it could clock our delivery & pick up for the same day. That was very stressful, because in our case, we could not verify when or IF our POD was actually picked up that evening until we called customer service the NEXT day. (Sidenote: Customer Service did work with us to resolve our issue!) Still, it would be better overall if the actual Drivers could do something to trigger the text/email updates, since they are the ones running the schedule. I've been a loyal customer for years and through several moves without issue -- until now. My recent move from Maryland back to Virginia was a complete disaster. Last year, I moved from VA to MD without being charged any "transit fees." This time, I was slammed with over $700 in interstate transfer fees -- for the same type of move. On top of that, I was charged $320 for moving blankets I neither requested nor received. (The location I picked up the pod from doesn't even provide them.) To make matters worse, I'm being charged $403 for a full month's rental -- despite having the pod for only two days. I've now spent almost $2,000 on what should have been a straightforward move. Read reviews before you buy. Even if you are in a time crunch. Be very wary of this company. Getting access to my pod has been frustrating. Four times when I requested access to my pod it was not available when I arrived at the facility, but you can best believe they charged my credit card on time every month. Two of those four times I had movers with me and was unable to get my belongings. One of those four times and with movers I was on the phone with customer service for over an hour and not once did I see anyone who worked at the facility, nor were they (customer service), able to reach anyone at the facility. I was adamant that because of these inconveniences my container be delivered to my home. I was told I would be charged but assured that I would receive a refund. That was a lie. I lodged a complaint and just recently received an email. See pics. I called again asking for clarification and was told the facility took a picture of the pod sitting outside. Of course they didn't verify the date or time of the photo. They just took the word of the facility manager. My POD was scheduled for delivery today and I received a text message TODAY informing me that it won't be delivered until Friday. I'm moving to MD from TX and everything is in my POD to live. The POD reps have continuously told me there is nothing they can do because the forklift broke at the warehouse. I have spent a tremendous amount of money for this move and to not have my things to move in my new place timely is ridiculous. PODS needs a contact number for corporate where someone can make an actual decisio. I've requested reimbursement of some kind and was told that won't be reviewed for 2-3 business days. I requested for my POD to be delivered at any time today and was told the warehouse manager said NO. They can't guarantee the forklift will be repaired today so what if it also doesn't get delivered on Friday either? This is a mess because I hired day laborers for tomorrow and now I have NOTHING. if i could give zero stars, i would!!! do not, i repeat do not ever use this company!!! complete fraud!!! i have been on the phone with multiple issues for four days now and still no resolve!!! my 88 year old mother is disabled and is in early stages of dementia! i am in the process of preparing to renovate her home in district of columbia to ensure her last days ate comfortable and manageable! this company sells itself on the principle of convenience and his has been nothing but a headache! i paid a lot for convenience and have not had that yet! when i booked i explained that i am in dc and do not have a driveway or yard access so the pod will be placed on the street! i explained and gave my permit to the company, explaining that in dc i must have a permit to place a storage container on the street and it is only good for 5 days (dc does not renew this type of permit)!!! i made my reservation for delivery on 6/21/25 and specifically requested that the pod be delivered no later than 12 noon because i hired workers to pack my pod and i did not want to disrupt my elderly mom's routine because it would throw her off track!!! my pod was not delivered until after 8pm on 6/21/25!!!! when i contacted customer service, these idiots gave me the run around and then told me i should have been told that i have to pay for premium service to have my pod delivered by a certain time! pay for premium service??? i already paid $365.11, and would be paying $403.87 a month, and not to mention i just lost $375 on movers that didn't have a pod to pack! to add insult to injury, i was then told verbatim, "well, i don't know what to tell you, and we do not have a way to provide you with any credits" by manager abby i. I had a very solid experience with the Hyattsville PODS! Both the drop-off and pick-up occurred within the specified 3 hour time frame I got notified of the night before and each driver was friendly and helpful. Especially Dennis O, who dropped off my POD. When he showed up, there was a car blocking one of the three spaces I needed to drop off the 16 ft POD (DC and PODS say you only need two spots reserved, but you need three in order to fit the machine that drops the POD) and was willing to try and drop it anyways, instead of just giving up and leaving. Thankfully the car was able to be moved while Dennis was preparing to drop the POD, but afterwards, Dennis gave me a very helpful tour of the POD and tips on how to best pack it. Overall, very helpful and positive experience. read more

I downsized and moved after my husband died and placed many items in pods to make the move easier. The problem is that you cannot arrange to access the pods once they are in storage. PODS will not call you when they arrive nor knock on your door. They call it a "courtesy" call, but will elect to be discourteous. They will leave the container wherever is convenient for them and do a rush/sloppy job. If you call customer service you will be on hold 20 minutes before a representative picks up. After they pick up they will put you on hold for 15 minutes before hanging up on you without another word. If you call back they will not help nor apologize. If the deign to enter repositioning they will want to charge you again. If you ask to speak to a manager they will simply say no you can't. So if you enjoy frustration and paying a lot for sub-optimal communication and customer service PODs it the company for you. I should have got a UHAUL. read more

If I could give Pods 0 stars I would. Pods customer service promises expert service and charges a boat-load of money, but what they provide is totally different. I moved cross-country from California to Washington DC, and from the moment my first interaction with Pods took place, there was nothing but turmoil. They schedule you and give a 3 hour time window then give you two days to pack your pod before they come to pick it up. Then you have to go int the website or call the number and schedule a drop off and pick up time from the residence you moved to. This sounds great, but the drivers are consistently late. The delivery person dropped off the pod at my place in California 2 hours late. The driver who picked up the pod from my place was 2 and a half hours late as well and neither one of them called. I had to call the customer service line and wait for a half of an hour before a representative got on the line to tell me that they should have already been there...(well duh!) Then they called the driver and tried to get an ETA. When he finally did show up, he was not wearing a mask and was very rude. When my pod arrived in DC, THAT driver was 3 hours late and then didn't put the pod in the area it was supposed to be set (you must get a permit to drop off the pod if it has to be left on the street). It took a parking enforcement officer and criticism from my new neighbors for the guy to move it a few inches forward so I would not get cited by the city. On my pick up date, Pods gave me a window between 7 and 10 AM and the driver showed up 10 minutes EARLY citing that he had a lot of work and wanted to get it out of the way. Unfortunately there were cars in his way and he could not pick up the pod. I couldn't even call Pods or the city to have the cars towed because their systems don't begin operating until 8AM (so why they would schedule a pick-up window that begins BEFORE service operating hours is beyond me) I had to call Pods, stay on the phone for 2 hours, talk to 3 separate reps, and threaten to sue before they changed my pick up date and gave an apology for their shoddy service. I will never use Pods again. I will not and do not recommend Pods to anyone who values customer service and timeliness. The drivers do not respect you, your time, not even your money. And if the drivers are supposed to be a representative of the company, it shows. I would not recommend their services to my worst enemy. read more

During our POD pick-up, the PODS truck malfunctioned and spilled oil all over our driveway, bib and into the street. The driver told me that someone would be by the next day to power wash our driveway but that I should also call in the morning to file a claim. No one from PODS came the next day and the customer service response has been HORRIBLE since then. After 5 days, I finally heard from someone in the claims department with this email: "In an effort to promptly resolve this, we would kindly ask that you consider purchasing Fullers Earth Oil Dri (or comparable dri oil product) from a local hardware store as soon as possible. This product can be laid over the area affected and we have found it most effective the sooner that it is laid. This is because the hydraulic fluid we use, although not classified as hazardous, is insoluble in water. Should there be any additional action needed, we ask that you document accordingly, both before & after any cleaning, and submit it for further review." This was two days before Thanksgiving when we were set to be hosting in our newly renovated home. I don't know how PODS thinks they can spill oil all over our property and then ask US to clean it up. Also, the direction to clean it up 5 days later is too late. Our driveway is ruined and I can't get any help from PODS to resolve it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

The delivery of my container has already been delayed once, from a Saturday to a Monday, and I have no confidence that I will actually receive the container at the new scheduled time. PODS seems to be lacking sufficient inventory. The timing of this delivery is important because the container will be shipped cross-country and needs to arrive in California by the third week in February. I scheduled a second container from PODS for late spring but, depending upon this experience, I may need to consider other options. read more

Moved from California to Maryland. PODS did an excellent job throughout the entire process. Pricing was clear. The team pointed out how to get permits in the city. PODS drop off and pickup was very smooth in CA. The drivers were excellent. Biggest highlight was the Hyattsville MD warehouse team. The 2 guys on the warehouse lot were extremely responsive and helpful when I went to check my PODS while they were in storage. Items stored in the PODS (container #118602BX) in front of my house for about 8 weeks were damaged due to water entering the unit. The product failed because the damage occured at the back, right concern of this new container. Several boxes containing coats, household furnishings (recently discovered: intangible keepsakes (my middle, high school & college yearbooks), pictures and books) were damaged and/or destroyed due to water, mildew & mold. I submitted a claim to PODS; I asked for reimbursement of dry cleaning costs & loss of items. They/an Executive Resolution Specialist  "investigated" my assertion that the container failed and concluded that the "reported water damage may have entered due to rising water" during the rental period. I appealed that based on the positioning of container #118602BX and the adjacent curb, the only way possible for rising water to have entered the PODS at the location of the water damage, again, the back, right corner is if this location was not tightly sealed to be "weather resistant". PODS still refused my claim/appeal & told me I needed to submit a claim to my homeowners insurance. The PODS was placed on a flat, leveled surface clear of obstruction as is recommended. The PODS delivery driver even came back at my request to put space between the curb & the container to allow possible rainfall to pass freely. The only possible way for water to have entered the PODS is if the container was not tightly sealed at the back, right corner. This is the only logical and scientific explanation as to why only the boxes in the back, right corner sustained damage, and not any of the boxes in the front (behind the door) or along the front right side of the PODS were damage. Without any reservation, PODS #118602BX is faulty, as I observed, on 6/17/2019 a water puddle at the back, right corner of the PODS, after an evening rain - exactly where my items that sustained water and mildew damage were. The PODS product failed to deliver on being water resistant, and the company is refusing to take accountability for presumably not adequately testing this new container prior to renting it to me. I wish I had never done business with this company. If you can, take you items to a storage facility. See pictures. The only positive experiences I had was with one of the Managers when I initially visited the facility inquiring about which size container I needed along with a few other questions, and with the delivery driver (on two occasions); both were extremely helpful, so much so I submitted a compliment to the company on the stellar customer service their employees provided...that's where the accountability & customer service stopped. read more

UPDATE: POD is still here 3 days later and no one can explain why a driver has not picked up the pod. I was given a confirmed pickup time, a 3-hour window for Monday morning (10/12/20), Tuesday morning (10/13/20), and then also Tuesday late evening. Only to call in at 7pm and nobody knows what happened. Highlight of the call is when the phone operator asks me why the POD hasn't been picked up. I ask her does she know where the pod is located. She does not know. Well maybe that's why, just a hunch. The phone customer service doesn't communicate with the dispatching pod location so the past 7 calls to them since Saturday have not resulted in them having the correct pickup address. My garage has been blocked off for over a week now. Trying to move into my new home has been a disaster because of the lack of response from PODS and extra time and energy carrying our furniture in and looking for parking an unneeded hassle. read more

We contracted with PODS to initially store many of our belongings while our house was being renovated, and then it was to be returned for us to fill it with the rest of our items for a move across country. All was good with the initial drop off and pick up. However, when the POD was returned to us, it had been severely damaged and many of our items were destroyed. Meanwhile, the POD door was wide open and damaged to the point that it couldn't close. THIS IS HOW IT WAS DROPPED OFF AT HOUR HOUSE. After some frantic phone calls, we got them to bring us a new POD within a couple hours, which I give them some points for. But the manager kept trying to blame us for having "loaded the POD wrong", which he said is what caused the damage! We were able to quickly move our items from the old POD to the new one, and both are still sitting in front of our house. I'm assuming that at some point they'll pick up the damaged one and take it away. We filed an incident report, but I'm not convinced much will happen. And they still have to take this thing to the midwest - which I'm terrified about!!!! Like not even convinced they'll send the right now. Really, look elsewhere. I don't usually write reviews but I want to warn potential PODS users. If there is anything complicated about your move don't use PODS.First, I will say the one good thing about PODS. When you finally get thru to a costumer service rep, the person will be nice, but if you have a problem they won't be able to help you. If you need to change the date of your drop off and need to have the POD be there for only one or two days because of condo or apartment rules they will do nothing to accommodate you. If you have more than one POD they won't try to coordinate the delivery with your first POD. You will never be able to get thru to the location warehouse with the PODS because they won't give you the phone number. PODS iso ly required ire's to tell you when your POD will arrive until after 4:00 in the afternoon. They will charge you if you have to change the date of POD delivery more than once. The worst for me was I moved 300 miles, and I got a call that they wouldn't deliver one of my PODS because it was too heavy. I asked if it was too heavy when they picked it up and was told it was not. My daughter and I had to drive back and move some items to another POD (an additional charge) plus big inconvenience. Also, if you request a move and they can't accommodate you and it goes into the next month then you have to pay for another month. Using PODS was not a good experience. read more

My PODS (Portable, On-Demand Storage) experience moving from Maryland to Arizona was all-around 5-stars. I'm posting this review to both the MD and AZ PODS business pages - though the booking, scheduling, and billing is done through corporate phone numbers and websites, the corporate offices work pretty seamlessly with the local sites. I booked our 'POD' about 1 month in advance of our move by phone after getting an online quote - one 8x8x16 storage container was recommended for our 1 bedroom apartment. The customer service rep I spoke with explained that the billing happens in 4 parts - (1) a monthly storage fee for the container that begins when it is dropped off, (2 & 3) a drop-off/pick-up fee for each end, and (4) a transportation fee. He also advised me to schedule each step of the way in advance - that they are NOT able to accommodate last-minute requests (though you can cancel pick-up & delivery up to 24 hours before) and told me what was required as far as coordinating with our apartment about POD placement (very helpful! - apartments generally do not allow overnight POD storage, requiring an additional $75 same-day pick-up fee, and require 3 parking spaces reserved to drop-off) The day before our move, we received a courtesy call and email regarding the window for our POD delivery - the driver also called the day of to update us on his ETA - each time well within the window the had set the day before. We packed the POD ourselves in 4 hours (with help from our friends), it was picked up the same day, and it took 12 days to transport our stuff to the Southwest, and we had it delivered right away so we could avoid the 2nd month of rental - no problems scheduling there either, and the drivers in AZ still as prompt as in MD. Our stuff arrived just as we had packed it, nothing out of place, and we didn't even lash anything down. I would use PODS again, and recommend it to others - my tip would be to schedule as much in advance as you can, and to ask lots of questions up front. read more

I have been in contact with PODS non-stop for a couple of days now. I had a POD delivered in DC, to be stored at the Hyattsville facility. I chose PODS because I may move back to California, so it was ideal to have all my stuff shipped. But when the POD arrived, it was placed in the wrong area and was not covered by my DC permit. When I tried to open the container, the door was sealed shut. Every customer service rep said "try shaking the door, or try pushing the door in a bit". I had to literally pry it open with a screwdriver and the issue? Dried up new paint which had effectively sealed my door shut. I also ordered a lock thru PODS which I already paid for. But when I opened the unit, it was empty. The customer service rep who called me the next day, mentioned that they had been out of that lock for 3 weeks now. It was a rude awakening since he called me at 6am local time. I moved all my things into the unit. It was supposed to be picked up on Monday morning, but they were unable to pick it up due to Pepco construction equipment on site. I've reached out my permit officer who has asked the Pepco construction team to accommodate my pick up. Their permit and work is literally being accommodated by my freaking POD. However, whenever I try to get in touch with a PODS customer service rep for a pick up - I get disconnected, told I'll be transferred, or updated on the fact that no one knows who is supposed to pick up. The drivers/facility/customer service are all disconnected, no one can get a hold of anyone. I actually gave the PODS customer service rep two phone numbers to try since she didn't have them on file. WTF. When I finally get a rep it was one of the options: 1) "the issue should be resolved the same day of the pickup", 2) "Worst case scenario: the issue will be resolved the next day", and then 3) "the next pick up date is not until June 4th." WHAT??! This has been a horrible, horrible experience and now DC will likely charge me every day until my POD is picked up. I do NOT recommend this to anyone who wants to keep their sanity. P.S. I am still trying to get a hold of a PODS representative who can actually help me pick up my POD today (5/25) since PEPCO construction will be delayed because of it's placement. I'd be more likely to recommend PODS if you're moving somewhere with a driveway -- otherwise, I've found it a hassle to find somewhere to park the POD itself (I know this isn't necessarily PODS' fault, but is something to consider). I also think there needs to be improved communication between the drivers and the customer service representatives. My POD was several days late to be picked up, and every time I checked in, I was basically told that the customer service people didn't know why the driver hadn't shown up. Ultimately, they ended up partially refunding me for the delay, which I appreciated. Bottom line: moving is already stressful and in my experience, PODS sometimes makes it more so. My ordered PODS container did not arrive in the specified 3 hour delivery window. The Movers I paid to help me load it therefore had nothing to do, so I'm out that $320. After being on hold with customer service for an hour, I was assured the container would show up "today." Also they said someone from the local office would call me with an update. However, I then received an email saying the new delivery window is TOMORROW. I also received NO update call as I was promised. I cannot trust the information I receive from PODS, and it's cost me money. For a SHIPPING company to be this bad at LOGISTICS is not a good sign. My main complaint is the lack of response from Pods customer service dept. You can absolutely not expect anyone to call you back. We had a Pod sit in a parking space for 4 days beyond the scheduled pickup date. The only thing that Customer service rep would say is "I will submit a form". I was also emailed by their "customer advocacy agent" that my complaint would be handled in the order it was received. This all started on May 8th and to this point I still haven't heard from anyone. Honestly this all could have been handled by a simple phone call. Find another company, there are plenty of others that I am sure treat customer issues better than Pods. read more

Local people are nice. Company overall is a complete shit show. 800 number goes to someone offshore with terrible English skills. Computer systems are horrible. Days and hours of access are very limited and the scheduler in Malaysia doesn't even have correct information so when we arrive, we learned that we could've come when we needed to instead of an inconvenient time. When we do a ride, the pods aren't ready and the staff is confused because there's nothing on the schedule. read more

PODS failed to ship our container until we had reached our destination across the country- all of our belongings were unavailable- customer service is a joke - they didn't respond to our incident case and refused to let us talk to a supervisor. read more

Absolutely the worse customer experience service I've ever experienced. I shared a POD with my roommate and they failed to pick up the day they were supposed. Now my street permit has expired and I have been calling nonstop speaking to different representatives that still can't get a hold of a driver. Now my POD is left open on the street for anyone to break in with construction occurring soon. If my POD isn't picked up ASAP it will get towed. I have never been so stressed and frustrated with such a terrible customer service experience. How is it that difficult to get a hold of a driver and get this handled quickly? I don't get it. Pods canceled my pod at 4 pm the day before it was supposed to be delivered, despite confirming the drop off window one day before. My husband and I spent hours on the phone (including over an hour on hold) trying to get them to fix this and they were not able to. We fortunately were able to figure something else out in time but PODS is not reliable. read more
