This business has stayed strong through a pandemic and so much more. Grateful to have their long standing presence in our neighborhood!

In the mood for something different? I've got you covered!…read more This is a local place with a wide variety of food options, including gluten-free. The service is good & the staff is very friendly. Clean restaurant with many tables for your dining experience too. I had Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, & green beans. Very good & satisfied the taste buds tremendously!

Unfortunately, while the food was visually appealing, the quality did not match the presentation. The women serving upfront were ok. I ordered the fried pork chop with turnip greens, mac and cheese, dressing, and a cornbread muffin. The pork chop was heavily battered and overwhelmingly salty, with little flavor beyond salt. The mac and cheese tasted artificial, as though processed cheese was used. The turnip greens were tender but lacked seasoning and tasted as if they had simply been boiled in water. The cornbread muffin was dry, hard, and bland. The dressing was also very disappointing and lacked flavor. Overall, the meal was extremely underwhelming and not representative of good home-style cooking. I was disappointed with both the quality and taste of the food, especially considering the restaurant's branding. After only a few bites, I discarded the meal entirely. Based on this experience, I would not return or recommend this restaurant. In my heart of hearts, this place gets zero stars...however, I believe that I have to give at least one star.

Ed's Fish is a Nashville institution in historic North Nashville. It's been around for many…read moreyears--in fact, it was a go-to spot for my husband and his frat brothers while they were in college. My husband spoke very highly of this place. He and his frat came here all the time and even knew the original owners, who were welcoming and provided good customer service. Now that it's been under new management for several years, I wanted to check it out for myself and see if it still had the same energy and vibe he described. I usually order the whiting sandwich with everything, and it never disappoints. The fish is always hot, well-breaded, and nicely seasoned. You can order it crispy or regular--just let them know at the beginning when placing your order. The portion sizes are generous. I typically get mine with onions, cheese, hot sauce, mustard, and pickles. If you want extras, there's a small up charge, and if you'd like other fixings, just ask--they're accommodating. I'm not a picky eater and like everything on my sandwich--I love all the flavors bursting at the seams and complementing one another. You pay at the window once you're in line. It's primarily a drive-thru setup, though you can walk in if you prefer. Typically, someone will take your order as you drive up. Lines are usually packed, especially on weekends, but in my opinion, they have great hours. Just be prepared to wait in your car for a bit--though they move things along efficiently and keep the drive-thru line moving. It's a true no-frills neighborhood spot in a community with deep roots, and I'm sure it brings back memories for many who attended college in the area or grew up nearby. It's also well-known enough that out-of-towners make a point to stop by for a sandwich or dinner. Pro tip: Check their hours and take a quick look at the menu ahead of time so you're ready to order when you pull up! So enjoy, my fellow fried fish lovers go ahead and place your order, I think you'll like it over there! And check out my two photos so you can see what I'm talking about.

This open faced fish sandwich was well seasoned, fried hard, and straight out the grease hot. I literally couldn't ask for anything more. The lady taking your order in the drive through is always friendly and efficient.
