Best meat-n-three in Nashville, food is consistently great tasting, hot and fast. Service is fast and always friendly. A must stop!

I always have to preface these reviews with maybe I ordered the wrong thing.... But it was not good. I was looking through reviews, the locals seem to love it here. The 'menu' was like handwritten on a piece of paper and the writing was not the most legible to be honest. The building is run-down at best, it did not feel clean. We sat in the back corner and the walls were visibly sticky/ had several colors of schmutz. As other people mentioned, the tables are very close together. It was too close for comfort. It was also loud. I ordered a plate with BBQ, creamed corn, parsley potatoes, and mac and cheese. It also came with a roll. It was unappealing when it came out, but I thought I would try to taste it without judgment. But after I tasted it, I did judge and it was not good. The Mac and cheese 100% came out of a bag. No flavor and not even warmed up all of the way, watery, and overcooked noodles. The overcooked noodles were extra sketchy because on my plate it was cold. The meat was without a doubt made 2-3 days prior to it being served to me. Absolutely not fresh and also I suspect warmed up in the microwave, it was in a pool of watery juices that infiltrated all other items served on the plate. The parsley potatoes were ok, but they were not appetizing to look at. The roll was good and the creamed corn most likely from a can was also fine. I did not finish my plate and I still felt sick afterwards. My son did not eat the chicken strips, they didn't look appealing to me either. I would be willing to bet they were cooked in a microwave. The service was also not very good. Maybe it's because we weren't locals or regulars. It took quite a while to get our food as well. We didn't get offered refills on our drinks either. I simply cannot recommend people to come here. You'd be better off warming up canned and frozen food at your own house.

A Nashville staple! It feels like you're walking into grandma's house by the cooking smells, vibe, and design. It's true nostalgia at it's finest. I got the meat + three and it's the perfect amount to fill you up at a great price. Go, go, go! Support Wendell Smith's.

Funny how WHITE PRIVILEGEGE WORKS! You can delete someone's post because it doesn't fit your narrative! Kiera, your business management skills ars HORRIBLE! You don't get to tell me how to review any place I have had a HORRIBLE experience at! Again like I said (& I'll KEEP POSTING ) Food: WAS NASTY AS FUCKKKKKKKK! How do you make yams with marshmallows sitting on top of the yams, with Lima beans & pineapple? That is NOT REAL SOUL FOOD AT ALL SERVICE: 0/10 now that the business lady is doing microaggression over the internet! I would NEVER recommend this place. This is NOT traditional soul food. This is unseasoned, over cooked, and under cooked food! This is NOT WHAT BLACK SOULFOOD IS! I was sick and on the toilet that whole night from the food.

Well I walked right in and sat right down. You seat yourself. And it ain't nothing fancy but the food is really good. My cousin told me about this place and if you sneeze too hard you'll pass it up on Charlotte street. I always thought it was a liquor store, cause that's what's in front. (they own that too) Nothing but old fashioned service and food. And everyone knows each other. I never got the servers name but she was nice and you don't see many restaurants that serve 3 sides with a meat! Well here's one! Thanks y'all, I'll be back! P. S. The 3rd Generation owner (70 years they been in business), introduced himself when I went to the counter to check out. He was very nice and he gave me a lunch menu if o wanted to call in ahead of time and pick it up.

Amazing home cooking and the friendliest staff. A lot of people dining were regulars, the staff knew them by name, and they were extremely friendly. We talked to several tables around us. The food is nothing fancy, but it's well made. It taste like home (pending someone in your home knew how to cook), but in the best way. You can feel the love in the food. So far I've tried I tried the ham, chicken and dressing, yams with mashmellow, Mac and cheese, green beans, stuffing, cranberries, pickled beets, squash, both types of bread, and a chocolate pecan pie (and I'm sure a few other items I'm forgetting. Everything was great! The best meat and three I've tried! I will say this is not for everyone. It's not fancy, trendy, new Nashville, or a hip aesthetic. It's no frills, quick service, home cooking.

They're known for their roast beef but there are so many things that most people want to try so they offer half portions of most of their proteins. The setup is cafeteria style, where you grab a tray and ask each server which item you want. I was completely lost, but the servers were really nice and helped us through the process. The food: 1/2 order of roast beef - this is what they're known for, so if you eat beef, order this one. Tender, very meaty, with tons of jus. Blackened salmon - I'm always skeptical of seafood in a cafeteria setting, but I had a bite of my friend's dish and this was perfectly cooked. Fried Chicken - crispy skin, tender meat, well seasoned. Turnip Greens - flavorful, not mushy Cornbread - solid Desserts - Chess Pie and Pecan Pie - sweet, but as expected. Pretty good Cauliflower hash - very cheesy, could pass for potato hashbrowns but a little drier. It was ok. Creamed corn - way too sweet for my preference Arnold's is a fun time. They paid homage to Masters of the Universe while we were there. The live action movie playing on one TV and the animated series playing on another. There's even a free arcade game emulator out in the front lobby. Arnold's approach to food is no frills. They crank out comfort food that is reminiscent of a home kitchen, in a good way - nothing crazy, just the classics.

Loved the aesthetics of this place- very chic and modern looking. But the best part was our food. I had heard great things about the burger, and it did not disappoint. This was one of, if not the BEST burger I've ever had. It came out fairly quick, fresh and hot with melty cheese and the softest bun. There's layers of veggies and sauce which add so much flavor to the soft, melt-in-your-mouth bite. The only thing was the fries weren't my favorite. They were over seasoned in my opinion, and not super crispy. We were full at the end but the dessert menu looked really good, with specials like ube lava cake and panna cotta. So when I knew we would be in Nashville, there were no questions: we were going to Maneet's! Mocking bird was the best choice for us as Indian food would not have been the best for our kids, and me as I can be a picky eater. Easily made reservation on-line. Heads up, no real street parking in the area so we had to park across the street in a parking garage (for a fee.) It was a Saturday night and the place was bleak! I couldn't believe it. There loss... The interior is meticulously decorated. Everything was very modern with some flare like the giant mirrored mocking bird protruding from the wall (super cool.) Sitting inside, you felt a little upscale. I tried a few things as there were 6 of us at the table. We started with Don't Worry, Brie Happy and Keepin' It Rio. The Brie bites were DELICIOUS!! I am still thinking of them 2 months later. I should have ordered this as my entree as well! The Rio, I could have done without. Squishy and lacked flavor for me. My cousin had Tot's El Tio Fun. Needed something. I thought it was a little dry. I did the trio. My choices: Brussels, fried rice and mac and cheese. I didn't realize these would be smaller than the original side version. The brussels needed more of a sauce. The rice- I wanted the egg on top but apparently this only happens when it is just the side. The mac and cheese was good. My friend raved over the Wedge between Us salad. My husband had the Bird Is The Word and has nothing but good things to say. Also, what a cute kids meal served in an only school microwaveable type of meal. I also felt I had to get a desert so the cookies it was and they were a little hard. My complaint- their website advertises the Happy Hour specials. They have it posted on the stalls in the bathroom. Nowhere does it say that you can only have the Happy Hour specials if you sit at the bar or outside. This made me upset! Advertise better. Be clear. Overall: the BRIE!!! True Score: 3.75
