I got stuck paying two gym fees at the same time because Atlantic Club lied about giving me a few hours grace. I would not have joined another gym if the rep had been honest in the first place. When I saw the charge on my credit card, I called the gym. According to the membership rep, no one should have told me that the computer system could be changed. There was one person who had authority to change the computer system and that was Kevin McHugh-COO of Genesis Health System. I have emailed Kevin McHugh four times and only once did he get back to me to tell me he would get back to me. The Atlantic Club passes the buck and hopes you forget that you've paid them any money. I have not forgotten. I have tried in good faith to discuss this with them. They have my money; they no longer wish to speak with me. Consider this before you give them your credit card number.

Students act up and the instructors aren't strict enough. -There is no order. The classes are disorganized. You have too many different levels of students mixed together to run any kind of meaningful class. -There is no accountability. Everyone gets a stripe at the end of class whether they learned the lesson correctly or not. Then when it comes time to belt test, they don't know the skill. Next on to the biggest overall problem that isn't the fault of the instructors: -The parents. The parents are obnoxious. They stay and watch classes. They talk loud and the chatter is totally rude and distracting so the instructors can't focus the students. The parents let their young toddler run all over the place and make noise while their older siblings are trying to concentrate and learn. How can students be expected to focus and learn when the parents can't even be polite and respectful? Most of them seem like they don't care if their children get anything out of the lesson. Sensei Jim and the other instructors are all very nice and do seem to try hard. They are very good with the kids and have a lot to offer. To me, it seems if there were a separate waiting area for the parents, that would take care of half the issue. Then, some restructuring of the classes and more discipline could make it a much more effective school.

Other class packages are also relatively reasonably priced, and the owner and staff are extremely friendly and eager to work with whatever your special request is. The studio itself is a bit on the smaller side, with curtained windows on two sides. So, no mirror, if you're looking for that. But if you'd rather avoid a mirror while practicing, or find that a mirror interferes with balance in some poses - this is perfect! Both times I've been so far the classes have been at max or close to max capacity - I wonder if this means they may outgrow this space? Hmmm.
