One part restaurant. One part small grocery store.

I so appreciate and try to support the ma and pa shops in small towns. I was super excited to see this place listed on Yelp and the high reviews. I drove out of my way to check this spot out, with hopes that the reviews lived up to the hype. Unfortunately this is a pretty average, maybe almost subpar Vietnamese restaurant. I ordered spring rolls, beef banh mi, and combination fried rice. The spring rolls were very fresh and contained a lot of noodles. It wasn't anything special but it tasted just fine. The beef banh mi was a disaster. It was a mayonnaise soaked bomb - the quality of beef was subpar, it contained 2 chunks of fat. I was surprised the sandwich did not have any cilantro - there were two slices of cucumber and a handful of shredded carrots. I ate half and threw the rest away. As for the combination fried rice, it contained shrimp chicken and Chinese sausage. The meat was on the skimpy side - the chicken tasted especially dry and flavorless. The rice was pretty oily and hardly had any soy sauce at all. I really wanted to like this place but in the end, if I ever come back, it would only be for the spring rolls.

This place is a diamond in the rough. My wife and I stick to the Vermicelli Bowl, Pad Thai, egg rolls, and crab rangoons and love it. You have to try this if you're in the point area.

I was a little hesitant about how the restaurant and food would be after getting new owners. I've been here several times when they first opened and the service was super slow. It took half an hour to get 6 bowls of pho. For 6 people with hangovers, that felt like years. So we stopped going for several months. Recently I took another gander and it was a total 180 degree difference. The server was pleasant. He got our drinks out before he took our order. The wait was not long to get our food even if the restaurant was half full. Our bowls of pho came in pipping hot with plenty of meats, tripes, and tendon. Very satisfying. I love vermicelli noodle salad and the best part is the nuoc cham sauce, theirs is perfect - garlicy, sweet, and mildly spicy. Attached to the restaurant is the grocery market that offers Asian goods like rice, vegetables, dry noodles, soup bases and so forth. There are also cooking items like steamers, plates, and condiment bowls. Decently stocked but priced a tad above the other Asian markets in the area.

    Really really good. Just sayin.

For the life of me I can't figure out why there aren't more reviews of this restaurant. Maybe because guests want to keep it a secret. Sorry. We took a chance coming here (only one review) but we forged on...and are glad we did. First off we ordered the shrimp & pork spring rolls...very sticky and freshly made with a peanut sauce. Perfect. Then we had the meatball and tripe Pho and the chicken & shrimp vermicelli. While I'm not a Pho person I tasted it and actually liked the tripe. Anthony Bourdain would have been proud of me. That vermicelli? To die for. Crunchy from the carrots, lettuce and cucumber, and the sauce is slightly sweet with the occasional bite of pepper. Oh...and had to have a Tiger beer to wash it down. Don't forget the beer! This place is worth driving a long distance to enjoy. So there. Now there are two reviews.

The pho was pretty good! I tried the bubble tea, but it wasn't true milk tea, and blended instead of poured. I still love them

The broth was delicious even before adding anything. They are generous with the meat and noodles. And, the price was more than fair. We also had the papaya which was delicious!!! I wish I could go back but I live out of state. The service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable. We sat at a booth that allowed us to look out at a beautiful tree across the street. It was a truly authentic and delicious Hmong meal. I'll definitely go back every time I'm in Wausau.

You can eat way more different items than just pho here. They have everything from laab to Hmong sausage with sticky rice and of course, egg rolls. Ok, food is pretty average however their menu is extensive. The food tastes so, SO much better than the Hmong delis in the same area. Their pepper dip is delicious. Great location; right on South 3rd Avenue where I grew up as a kid. Private parking. The establishment was an old supper club back in my day. Nostalgic. The ambience need some work. Everything is dated and dark. Like a grandparents basement. I was bothered with the group sitting next us. One guy spoke as if his buddies were standing a half block away. Our server was quick on his feet and helpful with the menu. He answered questions promptly and gave us a heads up if an item would be delayed in preparing. So helpful. We didn't have to wait long to get our food. Shorter time than at the local Hmong deli, I can promise you that and the restaurant was half full. Would, and have, returned.

We've visited here a total of 3 times before writing this review. I am not related nor do I know…read morethe owners personally so there is no bias here. What caught my attention was the banh mi sandwiches. I find it difficult to find a decent sandwich in the area. Some has too much watered pickled veggies or there may not be pate in it, so I wanted to try instead of relying on other's review. With that said, I'll get to the point and say the banh mi's are pretty good. It has a nice ratio of veggies to meat and yes, it has pate. The jalapeño is sliced thinly, just like I like it, so I'm able to handle the heat. The baguette is not toasted but it has a nice hard shell and soft inside. The meats, we got a pork one, are seasoned well. The veggies, mainly carrots, were pickled nicely. It's not dripping wet. Now for the pho, it was alright. The broth was cloudy but also seasoned well. The sliced meat did not taste fresh. I've eaten boiled freezer burnt meats before and that's how it tasted like. Not pleasant. The service was fast. I've been here to pick up just sandwiches before and I've waited no more than 10 minutes. We waited about 10 minutes when we did dine in. There were only another couple there so that may be the reason for the quick service. They bring their kids to this establishment? I heard a toddler crying from the back and kitchen area. The bathroom was clean. The decor is simple and minimal. Overall, I will return if I'm in the area. The owners were pleasant and location was easy to find with plenty of parking.

That said, if you have a strict hour lunch, you may want to see if you can call ahead. We were there about 55 min total (actually in the restaurant) which didn't leave us much drive time (but luckily, being just ten min late or so isn't a big deal for either of us) I ordered the Pho and it was pretty good. It wasn't OMG good, but I wouldn't have any issue ordering it again. My friend ordered the chicken curry and said the flavor was good. It's served with a nice amount of rice. The only criticism they had was that it was all dark meat and not necessarily trimmed the best, but this friend prefers white meat, so it wouldn't have been rated perfect for that reason. We got meatballs as well and I really enjoyed those. When we were there, it was pretty busy, but the host was prompt and friendly, the open tables were clean... And that was with staffing seeming short, so they were obviously doing the best they could with service.
