Parking is easy on the road into the Rose Valley campground or pay day use to come inside the campground. Walk to falls is from a marked trail within the campground. Less than a 1/2 mile to the falls. Rated very easy! Sometimes there is water. Sometimes not so much. Swim opportunities along the creek. Thomas Fire scars still visible 6.5 years after the fire which was on December 4, 2017. Today is 7.7.2024.

Here, you will stay in a trailer (possibly an Airstream or something like an Airstream) and you are probably a 10 minute walk to the beach. Beat that. If you have ever stayed in a trailer, you know it's tight quarters. But you get your own kitchen and bathroom and it's a heckuva lot more fun than a bland, stale hotel room. The site has firepits. Even better, they give you complimentary s'more kits with all the fixings. They have BBQs for grilling. They give you cookies and yogurt in the morning. They even give you oranges so you can squeeze your own orange juice. I don't drink orange juice normally but the juice here was outstanding. They have books and games available for borrowing. They have hammocks and swings and picnic tables. They have bikes for free rental. They have freshly-baked cookies that are delicious. There is apple cider and hot chocolate. There are a lot of amenities here which you simply will not find at most hotels. The train runs right by here and it's loud and shocking at first but it doesn't come by that often and you get used to it. Inside the trailer, aside from the train, the grounds are extremely quiet. This is a fun place and something different. The location is great and you get a lot of value for your money.

When I addressed issues with staff. I was told they were short staffed. If you're expecting an upper level of experience than this is not it . We have stayed at many KOA campgrounds and have had great experiences. This one falls short of expectations. Very disappointed in the level of response when I tried to bring issues up to staff and when I asked for help , nothing was done to fix any of the issues.

The showers do need to be upgraded you can barley breath in them because they are enclosed. The biggest issue we have is with GARY! He is the old guy that acts like a sheriff going around on his golf cart telling everyone what they can and can't do. Every year he has something to say and He is the rudest most annoying person and ruins everyone's fun by just being present!!! He tried to tell our kids they couldn't play in the arcade and kicked them out. We've been here 4 days already he has seen us here and he acts like we are someone coming in off the street to use the amenities!!! If he had any issues he should come to the parents and not address this to my children. they didn't do anything wrong. he needs a serious reality check because he is going to be the reason people don't want to come here anymore! He received a Junior Ranger packet with activities to complete, and once he finished, he was officially sworn in as a Junior Ranger. He even got a little wooden badge, which was such a cute touch! The visitor center is also in a great location, right by the Ventura Harbor, with plenty of places to grab ice cream, eat, or do a little shopping. The whole area was clean, nice, and easy to walk around. Such a fun and family-friendly stop, especially if you have kids who love adventures and earning Junior Ranger badges!

I…read morehave a personal rule: I only count a national park as "visited" if I actually spend time there, hike or walk through it, and truly experience it. On this trip, we visited 14 national parks, and Channel Islands National Park was one of the most unique adventures. Unlike most national parks, getting there is part of the experience. There are no roads leading into the park, you have to take a ferry from Ventura across the Pacific Ocean. Just boarding the boat and watching the mainland disappear behind you makes the trip feel like an expedition to somewhere special. We visited Santa Cruz Island, the largest of the Channel Islands, and immediately understood why these islands are often called the "Galápagos of North America." Thousands of years of isolation have allowed unique plants and animals to evolve here, including the adorable island fox, found nowhere else on Earth. Seeing one of these tiny foxes wandering near the trails was an unexpected highlight. The hiking was beautiful, with dramatic coastal cliffs, sweeping ocean views, wildflowers, and peaceful trails. One of the things we appreciated most was the feeling of solitude. Unlike many of California's more famous parks, Channel Islands feels wonderfully wild and uncrowded. The absolute highlight of our visit, however, was kayaking through the sea caves. Paddling into enormous ocean caves carved by the Pacific was an unforgettable experience. The water changed from deep blue to brilliant turquoise as the sunlight reflected inside the caves, and every turn revealed another incredible rock formation. It was exciting, peaceful, and just a little adventurous all at once. It became one of the most memorable experiences of our entire six-week trip. Because there are no restaurants, hotels, or stores on the islands, you need to come prepared with food, water, and everything you'll need for the day. That lack of development is exactly what makes the park so special. It feels wild, protected, and beautifully untouched. Channel Islands National Park is unlike any other national park we have visited. Between the ferry ride, spectacular coastal scenery, abundant wildlife, wonderful hiking, and unforgettable sea cave kayaking, it was an experience we will never forget. If you're willing to plan ahead and make the journey across the water, you'll discover one of America's true hidden gems.

Sadly, this was by far the most disappointing experience we've had. The campground was extremely busy, but that's all the more reason for proper maintenance. The bathrooms were consistently dirty throughout our four-day stay. The Full trash bag (1) sat in the same can for days, the urinals were filthy, the floors were disgusting, and the showers had yellow, mold and spider webs. Based on the condition, it didn't appear they were being cleaned regularly. We also dealt with wasps the entire time. There were at least two active nests on site restroom, making it uncomfortable and concerning for families with children. We frequently saw staff driving around the campground, but on several occasions they simply sat in their vehicles for a while and then drove away without addressing overflowing trash or the condition of the restrooms. Even the rental boats looked poorly maintained, which made them feel unsafe to use. After a decade of making wonderful memories at Lake Casitas, it was heartbreaking to see the campground in such poor condition. We truly hope management invests more attention in cleanliness, maintenance, and guest safety because this campground has so much potential. Unfortunately, this visit left us extremely disappointed.
