You can tell this guy wakes up hating life. He needs to find a new job that doesn't require him having to interact with people. There's ways to handle certain situations without coming across as rude, arrogant, and cocky. Someone needs to mentor this guy. His partner was cool and he's an example of how all rangers should be. Other than the lame ass ranger, the location was ok. It's walking distance to the beach. The campsite can get hot if you're camping in summer and there's not much shade. When the breeze hits, it gets super cold if you're not used to the coast. Bring extra blankets and layers for night time. Make sure you have a tent that can handle heavy fog/morning dew. Our tent had some minor leaking around 3am because of the fog.

The creatures (bunnies, squirrels, assorted birds, jumping fish and water birds) here just add to the beauty of the ocean. The restrooms were stocked with toilet paper, a huge plus and were semi clean! The beach portion of the park was very clean and absolutely gorgeous. A great place for quiet and relaxation! The group campsite is currently being cleaned up and has lots going on. I can't wait to see what's to come!

Although, spot #2 and #1 at the campground are "not" big rig friendly. I don't care what the their website or other sites post. We had to maneuver our way back into the spot and made it work but I would not suggest it for big rigs. Our stay was nice but cut short due to the drastic rainy weather coming our way. This spot sits at the bottom of a sloped road or washy area so we were not about to stay there and have anything come barreling down behind us and cause us any harm to ourselves, our pets or our truck/rig. So, we messaged the park about us leaving and explained our safety concerns and they were happy to refund us the two days early we had to leave. We were very grateful and anxious to leave to get ahead of the impending storm. As you all know when California gets rain it gets rain and you need to stay clear of these areas for your safety. We would go back and stay at Foster Residence Campground and would recommend.

PRELIMINARY FOREWARNINGS: - Three and a half mile,…read moreintermediate to advanced hike with 700-800 foot elevation gain. - This is 30 minutes from Santa Barbara and Goleta within Los Padres National Forest. - Bring $10 in cash bills for the entrance/parking fee. - Drive a 4WD or SUV because you do need to drive over a river wash. - There is very little shade so bring a hat and plenty of water. - Don't confuse it with the "Aniso Trail" which is between El Capitan and Refugio State Beaches along the PCH. This is well within the Los Padres National Forest lands. - A flushing toilet with running water and picnic tables are at the trailhead. - WHAT THE SHALE! Beware when transverse up/down the trail since the ground consists of a lot of shale (fine-grained rock that is a mix of flakes of clay minerals and tiny fragments) which is super slippery. Now with all the 'important' information covered, I will share this Aliso Canyon and Loop is within my top three favorite hikes around Santa Barbara. There is natural beauty with 360-degree views of the greener Santa Ynez and stony San Rafael Mountain Ranges. Along my hike I have seen turkeys, deer, skunks, and many bird species, plus skeletons, scat and foot prints galore. The trail begins as a mile long interpretive trail along a creek and travels through Aliso Canyon (unfortunately I've never seen the tour maps to match the points of interest). Continue in either direction another 2.5 miles to make the loop which climbs out of the canyon and up along the hill crest. At the highest point (1,700 foot elevation) you can enjoy some relaxation on a bench (thanks to the memory of Blanche 1924-1996) with views over the Santa Ynez Valley and both mountain ranges. Directions: Your best bet is to set your GPS to Sage Hill Campground. While it isn't difficult to find the trailhead, it can be potentially confusing at first. Drive on the 154 and turn onto Paradise Road which eventually enters Los Padres. Continue on the winding road until you see the Los Prietos Ranger Station on the left side. (You went too far if you reach Rancho Oso). Turn left and follow the road down and U to the right then left before crossing the Santa Ynez River wash. You will reach the payment area and signage. After depositing your ten dollars, continue to the right until the pavement ends. Cost: - $10 Day Use (CASH ONLY, no checks--they should really modernize and have a machine or even a code that accepts Venmo or Cash Apps!) - No passes accepted (i.e. Golden Age, Interagency, State Park, Federal National Park, or any other pass you can display) - No holidays are observed! Just put the cash in one of their envelopes and put your pass on your dashboard. Is it worth ten bucks? Well, while I love free hikes I do think this was a good loop trail and worth the fee. Start the loop trail on your right up the mountain ( you'll see the sign) and soon you'll be hiking counter-clockwise along the ridge, and back down into the Aliso canyon. There are some great views along the way and the final decent into the canyon along the side of the hill is exhilarating fun for the whole family. Yes this is kid friendly, but it's not easy. Be prepared for some complaining going up. We came after a large rain yet the river that runs through the Aliso canyon was mostly dry. - 3.3 miles total - Little shade so come early or late.. - Good Shoes are recommend as some of the trail is small rubble.

We were on the 2nd floor where we faced the beach and was away from the Main Street. We were above the garages which is probably a nice feature to not have to worry about making too much noise for anyone that would have been on the first floor. The CIS provided everything you would need (aside from your own personal toiletries). We had a small stackable washer and dryer in the unit, there was dish soap, laundry detergent packets and coffee and tea. In the bathroom there was a mounted dispenser for shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I was one of the lucky ones to sleep in the queen bed. It was comfortable but the pillows were really small and disappeared the minute your head laid on them. I feel like there could have been a few more extra pillows around so that each guest could have had 2 pillows. When you open the windows, we got great air flow. It got a little stuffy at night so I would recommend opening the windows a bit if you are on the second floor. The bathroom was large but lacked ventilation as there is no window in it. There was a fan in the bathroom but it wasn't really working well enough. I loved that we were about 1,000 ft from the beach. The manager, Jen was great and making sure we were doing okay. She gave us Sangria on Saturday afternoon and there is fresh pop corn in the lobby. You can borrow beach equipment from the office. We borrowed a few beach chairs. We were a little disappointed when we saw that our unit was not the one featured on VRBO which highlighted a hot tub on the deck. What we saw on VRBO also showed that were would have more than 1 bathroom but we did not get that exact advertisement. I think they just use a standard ad as "the model" but you don't get exactly what is advertised. We were still happy with the condo and the services that we would stay again.

I reserved a two-bedroom, 1.5-bath apartment that comfortably accommodated three of us, and it could easily host a family of six thanks to its spacious layout and a convenient pullout couch downstairs. The amenities exceeded my expectations--shower pressure was excellent, making quick and refreshing showers easy especially if you're a big group. The condo includes utilities for four people, with plenty of towels provided (Thanks Tina). While there's no air conditioning, the ocean breeze just a block away kept the unit comfortably cool throughout our stay. A nice bonus was having a hot tub in each unit, perfect for relaxing evenings. Parking was also straightforward, with one dedicated spot included. A heads-up for warmer months: if you're sensitive to heat, keep in mind that summer temperatures can get quite hot, and the unit might feel warm without A/C. Additionally, because of the communal setup, it can get quite loud--sounds from neighboring units are audible--so don't forget your earplugs if you value quiet. Service, simplicity, cleanliness can make all the difference. Owner is of South Asian ancestry and a very nice guy who checked me in on my first stay around 9pm. He gave good instruction on everything and was professional and pleasant. This is a great location if you're in town to visit Channel Islands (10-15 min drive to either Ventura or Oxnard Harbor to take your ferry over to the islands) but also this motel is close to the Ventura Pier and downtown Ventura. Can take a nice walk to beach and downtown. What I like about this motel is that the rooms are all on the ground floor and you can park right up to your room, this makes for very easy unloading and loading especially if you got a lot gear, which I did. Rooms are modern and have been renovated and upgraded. There is a small fridge, and bed was comfy. I did wish they had a microwave and coffee pot available. I then checked in again a second time as the campground I tried to stay at was just too loud for me and when I returned the second time, owner recognized me and was happy to see me. He even told me to book directly and can save money. He put me in the same room and it was clean and what I needed. What was exceptional about this place is that the morning I left, I mistakenly dropped the room key and my credit card together in the key drop box. Within 10 minutes of leaving, the owner called me. I didn't recognize the number and didn't pick up, but he kept calling and on the 3rd try, I knew I probably should answer and thank goodness I did, because he told me I left my card. I then went back about 15 min later to pick it up and he was very nice and smiling. I am quite thankful that there are still good people out there looking out for others. I'd definitely stay here again and know you're supporting a small business but also the room was very decent and I like the layout of this motel. This place is well worth your money, don't hesitate to stay here.

While they had a little fridge they did not have a microwave. My only complaint would be the amount of light that came in so imagine my surprise when I got up in the middle of the night and noticed the shade that completely darkened the room. Oops, THAT WAS MY FAULT. Great after I found the blind.

I find the staff at the center to be friendly and enthusiastic and best of all, knowledgeable. The center itself is small, but the highlights include some decent taxidermy of some of our local mammals and the bird feeders out front. The birds here are very used to the visitors and hummingbirds and jays come right to the feeders, even if you're standing close by. You can easily get a VERY up-close look at these amazing wild animals. Cons: The bird taxidermy isn't very good (or is terribly old) and doesn't give a good representation of what these majestic animals actually look like when you see them in the wild, unless you're seeing them dead on the side of the road; these could help you identify roadkill.

I rented a beautiful 1966 Ford Econoline outfitted with a bed, sink, cooktop, everything I needed for a great camping experience. I drove the van out to Joshua Tree for some wonderful views, hiking and climbing. The van drove well and was a real head turner. We got so much attention (waves and smiles) driving the van around and it made the experience that much more exciting.
