I love this place, it's good for a family vacation. One thing I would like to share about it is that they are undergoing new ownership, so the pool side food, and bar are closed. In my condo that I stayed in had ants, and were all over my food. My favorite part about this place is at night around 9:00-9:30 the crabs come out on the beach, and if you lucky you might catch one!!

Booked last minute get away from Dallas during pandemic - staff was friendly and very attentive - beach club closed pool every three hours for one hour to fully clean and treat pool - made us feel safe and secure - nice to have poolside food and beverage ! Great getaway!

These stars are for how pretty the pool area is. The lonely, desolate pool area with no waitstaff or bar staff unless it's Spring Break. As someone else mentioned in a tip about Pointe West, there's no help or management presence, elevators always seem to be down, no pool towels and of the five days we were there, the restaurant/bar that services the pool was only open one day. On the upside, we brought in all the food, drinks and adult beverages we wanted because no one was around. Except the last night, when the bar was open. There was a security guard there too. Within two minutes of chatting with him, he lit on the hard sell to join his team in a pyramid scheme selling Stream Energy. He bragged about all the money he makes and his buddy in Garland who's a millionaire from selling it. Um, why are you a security guard at a desolate condominium complex if you make so much money, and why would a millionaire live in Garland of all places? That was very inappropriate in my opinion. He's an ex-cop who knows the owners or something. Next issue: there were poisonous Portuguese man-o-war (blue in pics below) and jellyfish ALL OVER THE BEACH at the resort. There was no information at all on these critters and we didn't know anything about them. Thankfully we googled them right from the beach before we got in the water. We learned that the tentacles on the man-o-war extend 4 feet out when they are floating and that the venom in there stings can be extremely dangerous or even deadly to some people. We also learned they can still sing you even when they are dead on the beach. As we were traveling with children, this was pretty scary. These things look like something a child would run right to and pick up! I don't blame the owners of the unit we stayed in, which was actually very beautiful and well appointed. But the "management" of the place should put up signs or leave notices in the units when people are checking in. Galveston in general is definitely not a destination beach for us, it is one of the worst Texas beaches anyway. We've only been twice in the last five years, and after this visit we really have no reason to go back. I mostly wanted to leave the warning for others to watch out for the various see creatures that might pose harm to you or your family, and the desperate security guard who wants you in his pyramid scheme.

This has been a total disappointment to me and my family. The carpets are filthy I don't even want to walk Barefooted on them much less let my granddaughter Play on them!! There's a damn hole in the ceiling In the room my granddaughter is supposed to Sleep in but she's scared to even go in the Room by herself. Point West has made me look Like a total fool to my family. I haven't seen my Kids in 8 months this was supposed to be a Family vacation to where my kids and my fiancée would Get to know each other in a no stress environment And it's the complete opposite!!! My granddaughter has health issues and I would Never take her to some place as nasty as this. This place is a piece of #%€£ to say the least. Planned for 2 months . Flew in from California to a dirty filthy condo with holes in the ceiling!! Management said it just happened . Guest book says it happened 3 months ago. PS thanks for screwing up our vacation. Dumbasses . Henry Dunbar I can't believe this is the shit I rented to take my family on a vacation. I fly 2000 miles to a garbage dump.

This is a review of the pool area only; not the actual condos. The pool area is a great environment for families of all sizes and ages. Granted my wife and I were there right after school went back so there weren't many people there but the main pool is very nice and there is a small splash pool on the lower level. The food service is pretty good and quality of food was surprisingly good as well. Had lunch there on two occasions.

The resort is PERFECT! Big condos perfect for large families! Beautiful infinity pool and hot tub on main registration building and lazy river at the other location about 2 miles away. Fitness center is nice but the best is the private beach. Nice and clean property. Only complaint is not enough parking. Only one vehicle gets reserved location and everyone else is SOL. Room service is expensive but food is good.

Perfect gem at the western tip of Galveston Island, far away from the crowds of the seawall. We've been coming here for 4 years now, and every trip is a welcome respite from a hectic life. Some reviewers noted specific issues with condos that they've rented. As Pointe West is not a "hotel" type resort, you do not book through a central reservations department but are actually renting directly from the condo owner (or through a management company if the owners so choose). Bottom line is this resort is great, and a highly recommended family getaway in Galveston. Research your chosen condo carefully, as there are a few that the owners have neglected. One tip: opt for a first floor unit. They're actually second floor because there is a parking garage below, but HOA regs do not allow tile for the upper units. Carpet and the sea do not go well together!!

Our room was on the top floor where the Seagull Rooms are located. It appears to be newly renovated. It was clean & comfy. The shower pressure was perfect, and the AC worked very well. It's located in the San Luis Resort with many attractions & restaurants nearby. The beach and breakwater viewpoint is across the street from the hotel. There was a Sugar Plum Market in the hotel on the day that we checked out. Wish I could have spent some time looking at all the Christmas goodies. There are just a few things that were less than ideal. The buffet breakfast was pretty basic, however they do serve Starbucks coffee. The coffee was good! I have to say that Marriott wins in the breakfast department over Hilton. The port shuttle is not complimentary. We could have used Uber instead of the shuttle. They do have a Park, Stay, & Go hotel offer for those with cars. Perhaps that's a better deal, but I'm pretty sure that the fees are added to the rate. I was impressed that they had a handheld steamer in the closet. We didn't get to use it, but it's a nice thing to have. I would have traded it for a pair of disposable slippers. It's the little conveniences that make me the happiest. It was cool to see the offshore oil drilling rigs glowing out in the distance at nighttime. I had never seen that before. On a clear day, you can barely see them out there. I really enjoyed the Gulf view from our room. Walking along the seawall at sunset was the best part. Would I stay here again? Yes, with a few minor adjustments. We would probably have breakfast at the IHOP next time. Other than what was mentioned earlier, it was all good.

And each time I got bubbly or a mimosa, it was warm. I still drank it, but meh. Drinks are still more than you'd want to pay for a not-so-stiff drink, but what hotel bar isn't pricey? I spent probs more than $100 just on myself, so I rec just buying a bottle. You have to have a wristband to access the pool and get towel service; not sure how to get a band if you're not staying at the hotel. I guess you could always rent a cabana. Which are pretty pimp. The crowd here is an even mix of families, hotties and regular Joes, which I like. I did, however, notice a lot of hot moms with their kiddos. Great idea for those moms looking for a quick getaway that can entertain both adults and youngsters. Potties: Please use them. Don't go in the pool. As added persuasion, the restroom inside the main lobby has a tub of fragrant salt scrub that's complimentary. They also have foot showers, a mojito bar, wet bar, hot tub, kiddie slide with a grotto. We had requested that our luggage be divided between two rooms, but all items were delivered to one room, and we needed to move them ourselves to another floor. At check-in, we were informed that a discounted rate could not be applied to one of the rooms due to hotel policy, despite the occupant qualifying. We were also charged a resort fee that included access to amenities such as the outdoor pool and lounge area, which were not available during our stay due to a private event, as well as Wi-Fi service that we experienced as intermittent. We requested a pack-and-play at check-in, but it was not delivered until several hours later and only after a follow-up call. Food pricing was also higher than expected. For example, we were charged $10 for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with fries for a child, which felt high for what was provided. At checkout, while managing luggage with toddlers and a disabled member of our party, we did not receive assistance from staff in transporting bags to the shuttle area. We had confirmed a cruise shuttle pickup time of 11:25 am at both check-in and check-out; however, by 11:45 am the shuttle had still not arrived, and it did not show up until closer to 12:00 pm despite multiple calls to the front desk. Finally, we were told that a manager would follow up regarding these concerns, but we did not receive a call. Given this experience, I also informed our travel agent so they are aware when making future recommendations. Based on our experience, we would choose to stay elsewhere in the future.

But my wife, always with the champagne tastes was not so convinced. We debated this off and on for a couple weeks, and eventually she won out when she discovered a deal on TikTok for the Grand Galvez. TikTok has deals? Apparently. First impressions walking into the lobby: yeah, it's super nice. Quite a bit nicer than the Hyatt Select we were considering. And quieter in this area. The place almost paid for itself when we accessed the private beach. As you walk up, you're greeted with towels, water and covered seating. These things were especially welcomed during our visit when it was approximately 99 degrees with 278% humidity. As others have shared, the rooms are small, but they're not like Japan small. We had a room with two queen beds (maybe they were doubles?), and felt like we had plenty of space for what we needed. Our 7 year old son slept in one bed with my wife and I got a bed to myself. Maybe if you sharing a room with someone you don't want to be sleeping practically right next to, you'll wish you'd booked a different hotel. But this was great for us. Oddly enough for a historical hotel, they have the world's fanciest shower with so many buttons and knobs that it's hard to even figure out what to do. Ultimately, the shower itself was fine. The water got plenty hot and the pressure was solid, even if the angle was a bit weird. The beds were a bit softer than I'm used to, but comfortable. Because this was a short day trip for us, I actually packed my own pillows, so I can't speak much to those. We opted to valet for $40 a day, but there is a public parking garage right next door to the hotel. It's a nice place. Apparently scour TikTok before booking.

The lighting is perfect in the relaxation lounge. There is champagne, snacks, even cucumbers for your eyes. I had a facial first, then the grapefruit massage (TX Ruby). There is so much to the facial; I was delightfully surprised each time I thought it was over that it wasn't over and a new treatment began! Both massage therapists' hands were pure magic. The only things I'd advise them to do differently is: no oil in the scalp massages, and less steam on the face during the facial. (Or ask the client beforehand) The Room - 501, Audra's room, the only option as far as I'm concerned. Spectacular view of the beach and ocean. Bring all your ghost hunting equipment. She preferred to speak through my witchboard, but there is a ouija board already there and set up for you! It was the cherry on top. The rest of the "normal" amenities were great, though I would've preferred a simpler shower (I needed an instruction manual haha), and a simple shower as well as an antique mirror would've matched the rest of the room much better. The interior designer needs help all over the place here... owls and monkeys amid jungle leaves at a beach hotel? No. And they really should've left the cream colour instead of the pink everywhere (the exterior paint especially) but that's just my opinion. The Pool - Fabulous! Perfect temperature and wonderful drinks, albeit a bit on the pricy side. The hot tub was a perfect temperature too, even if you just put your legs in. All in all, a marvelous stay but an expensive one.
