How is this place still in business? We decided to give it ONE more chance after having not so good experiences previously. We came in for lunch and drinks and they had a gal taking drink orders and delivered them fairly fast. We ordered a beer and Coke and the Coke came in a screw top plastic bottle (not cold) with a flimsy plastic glass with ice. After being told they were short staffed, no one came back to take our order for over 30 minutes at which time we decided to pay for our drinks and leave. There were 2 tables near us with 6-8 people each that was getting their meals brought out one by one! Also, since the business is completely open, why is everything served on paper plates and plastic utensils? For the price of your food, use a dishwasher!! read more

First the positive, the food is very good, but be prepared to wait.....we have been there 3 times in 6 months and twice chalked up the terrible service to the way Covid has effected the restaurant industry. The first 2 times we went, they had no server. The gal at the full bar ignored us for 25 minutes until we finally went to the bar and got the menus and asked for water. We waited another 15 minutes and the gal finally came and took our order but then ran back to the bar to handle her customers. It was a long while before we got our burgers. The fries were cold and the build your own burgers were made wrong. It never got corrected because the server never came back to the table to inquire if we needed anything. Our last try was yesterday. We had a server this time but she never came to the table to take our order or the order of the table seated before us. When she finally came she asked us both 3 times what we wanted. We told her 4 times but it was clear she wasn't listening because again after we told her she asked us what we wanted. Again the fries were cold, the drinks never refreshed, and then we noticed a surcharge on the bill for using a credit card. She had asked us before the meal how we were paying and we told her cash. When we mentioned the charge she informed us we told her we were paying with a credit card. The charge was one percent of the meal. When we asked her to remove the 1.93 charge she couldn't figure out how to remove the charge. She told us to take the check to the bar so the bar tender could deduct it. She too couldn't figure out how to subtract $1.93 from the total. When we told her what we owed. She said let's just make this easy and subtract a dollar. We won't be back. read more

Stopped in here for lunch while on a bike ride on the Long Prairie Trail. It was great sitting outside in the fresh air. Inside is being remodeled and not open. Port-o-let outside was clean. I wish I could give this place a better review as there are some decent things it has to offer, but the owner Steve is abysmal. The food is pretty great, especially for the area! His female bartenders and servers were slammed while I was in and they were doing the best they could, but then there's Steve just doing nothing. In a well managed bar/restaurant he would've stepped in an been in the weeds right there with them. Instead he's wandering around being in their way, making himself drinks and schmoozing with his friends at the bar. He literally pulled up a stool next to me while his employees are running around. Also have heard very unflattering stories of his alcoholic rages. Steve maybe spend less time relaxing and more time helping your employees. If I could give this place less than a 1 star I would. Just as a preface there were 4 tables with customers at them when we were there. We had to flag down the waitress to order our food after 10 minutes of her walking past us multiple times. We had empty cups in front of us and had to go up to the bar for a drink but lo and behold our waitress is there looking at photos on a customer's phone. 40 minutes later we had to ask about our food, we ordered nothing complicated just cheese curds, Italian beef, and a burger. Waiting another 10 minutes we decided to leave and the owner was at the bar and started to mother f us as we were leaving. Horrible bar owner and staff. They may be short staffed and that is understandable, but when they blatantly don't care about the customer then that's another problem entirely. read more

I keep hearing Gordon Ramsay use the term "gastropub". I finally looked it up, read it to my wife, and we both said "Poison Ivy!". "Definition of GASTROPUB: a pub, bar, or tavern that offers meals of high quality" Poison Ivy has the best food in Roscoe, hands down. Their chipotle fish taco is the best I've ever had, thinking about the homemade potato chips with hot sauce and Gorgonzola cheese is seriously making my mouth water, and the Waygo hamburger...OMG, what can I say? We've always had outstanding meals there, every single time. There are also a LOT of excellent craft beers at PI, too, not just the BMC (Bud, Miller, Coors) swill that most bars have. Ok, so it takes a little while to get your food, and the atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired. Get over it. Don't eat there when you're pressed for time. Go when you can drink a fantastic beer or two and relax with friends while you're waiting for your food--it'll be worth it! read more

Two star rating because the service was quite good. Three of us stopped by for a late lunch at 2PM on a Friday. Immediate seating, not crowded and prompt attention from our waitress. Ordered two diet sodas, three ice waters and a coffee. The ice waters came with a slice of cucumber and I did not like the flavor so I requested one without. Taking a sip of the replacement water I figured out why the cucumber was added to the original. The replacement tasted like WELL WATER which explains why the sodas had a off taste to them. We ordered a soup, claim chowder, a grilled cheese and hamburger sandwiches, the 12 chicken wing appetizer (the wings were chewy and lacked flavor) and an order of extra crispy french fries. The soup and sandwiches were O.K. The claim chowder was thin, flavorless and almost completely lacking claims. The french fries were not close to extra crispy and were served on a ICE COLD plate. Pricing of $58.00 plus tax is excessive for the quality of the food and the area. I asked our wait person about the Friday fish fry. She said it is not all you can eat, the cod is $14.00 and the Walleye is $17.00. I asked her what type of Walleye. She checked and said it was Alaskan Walleye. That's when I decided to have the chicken wings because there AIN'T NO WALLEYE IN ALASKA. Alaskan Walleye is a "marketing name" for pollack, a cheap saltwater fish. My wife had heard good things about this place a while back, so we checked it out, enjoyed it, and kept going back. We pop in there a couple times a month for food. It would be easy to dismiss this place as "just another bar", but that would be missing what we truly enjoy here. I've been surprised to see reviews about spotty service - I've actually found that the servers take a team approach, with multiple servers jumping in to help refill drinks, clear plates, etc... My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken wrap, but check out the specials too, as I've had some good one hit wonders along the way. Wednesday evening we walked in about 8:30 pm, no one greeted us. Which really isn't a big deal to me because we wanted to sit at the bar anyway. They were not busy at all. We sat down and waited about 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were there. Ordered our drinks and asked for menu's. Then waited and waited and waited. Looking around while we waited there were 2 and 3 people behind the bar chatting and stocking the coolers. completely ignoring us. We finally had to get up and practically shout for them to acknowledge us. Tired of waiting and losing our patience with them, we wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. We were not happy. The bartender apologized and told us we didn't have to pay for the drinks. which was OK but by no means helpful to us, It will be a long time before we go back (if we EVER go back) It's a shame because we have had rally good service and food in the past. This place is a real shocker! Wonderful, gourmet food, in a casual bar atmosphere. I've been searching for good, true dry aged beef on all my travels for years. Who would've thought I'd have found it in my own backyard. All the food we have had on the three visits we've been there have been amazing, although the wings were just average. We were seated immediately as the restaurant was busy but not at capacity. Of course, our servers were friendly and prompt. Unfortunately, we waited 45 minutes from soup/salad course until our entrees arrived. We had two small children who waited like saints for their meals but ended up lying down in the booth. At one point as we waited for our food, a hostess came by asking if we'd received our check yet - even she thought we'd been their too long. When the food arrived, it was fine but not worth the price. And the kitchen had omitted the shrimp requested on one of the salads. And when the owner stopped at our table to check on us, I expressed our disappointment. No apologies, nothing. Instead, he explained that good food and seating customers quickly is their priority, not fast service... "not like an Olive Garden." At which I was offended as if we were being painted as a family with only the sophistication of a soup, salad and bread sticks palette. The coffee drinks (w/alcohol) are good but they need more in the presentation: bigger, cool mugs with maybe whip cream and topping for extra pop!! Also told me that they had 60 people come in on a Tuesday and that they are not used to that. I told him not to worry and that if I was ever in the area again that I would give them another try. There are a lot of mixed reviews on here. My husband and I are not drinkers so we have only eaten here, but we are big fans. Last Friday we ordered fried calamari, sliders, shrimp artichoke pasta and side salads. Every part of the meal was good, even the bread and basil ranch salad dressing! They had a beautiful meat and cheese board that they brought to our table and described but we chose not to order. The staff was very helpful and really on top of things. We had at least 4 different people check in on us and service our table. The only reason this place does not get 5-stars for us is the atmosphere. It is a loud sports bar with high tops and barstools which are never the most comfortable (again, we are not bar/drink people and only go here for the food). Who would expect a neighborhood bar to serve gourmet food? We have been there at least 5 times. Everytime has been a great experience. The owner has an interesting menu, which changes often. Servings are good portioned but not obscene. Leaves you wanting more! The charcuterie platter changes monthly. Try it for something different. Excellent selection of craft beers, which also rotate. So Poision ivy has everything wrong with a restaurant. Gordon Ramsay cant even help fix this place let alone the owners attitude. From starting employment there it seemed okay. The kitchen is small to where you bump into each other constantly. It's also a bit grimey but that's sure to come with age I guess. But no amount of me deep cleaning can really fix. I'm sure it's going to be updated like the ceiling was but that's not all... Washing dishes there, there was no issues doing that job. Side jobs came along with it like any other, clean The bathrooms, mop the kitchen as well as sweep. But then the job started to be more complex, clean the mess every server made behind the bar. Or even fetch them buckets of ice because they are too pretty and frail to get it themselves while they aren't even busy. I mopped and swept like was asked. But then I was also to maintain the outdoor area, like water the plants as well as sweep the parking lot, clean up massive amounts of leave piles. Made a stick pile for what he said, " I'm gonna have me a bonfire." For when I had to clean the bathrooms his wife saw one spec of dust, I for one couldn't see anything due to the not so florescent lights, lost their shit. The owner Steve had the audacity to scream at me in front of the customers saying how shitty I was for not doing my job and that he pays me "too much". . . Whatever. But here comes the part the customers need to actually understand what happens in the back. Steve, I fucking kid you not, says to me that none of us can wash our hands in the one sink in the kitchen. It's for show for when the health inspectors come for a visit. So we an either walk to the bathroom to wash our hands or use the dirty sink water. Now here is another thing, the dishes. They have cracks In them, and once a dish has a crack or a chip in it. They need to be thrown out due to bacteria build up that crawls and lives in those nice seams. But since dishes are too expensive they need to be used anyways. But what am I supposed to do I only work there. Making money moves. This review is 100% real. You think I would sit here and write a novel on how this place is. Hell no. I have better things to do, like take a nap after I got home from work. I since then quit due to Steve's behavior, who not only is the owner who should create a great experience not only for the employees but for his guests as well. But instead he literally does not give a demons dick and wants to get drunk every f*cking day. So there you have it a great authentic review of this horrid place. Go to tap house grill instead. Bad/slow service. Priority is put on the bar guests, not dining room guests. Food is actually pretty good. Owner will come out and be social, but it's an obvious façade as he will sit down with people he knows and completely ignore that customer needs aren't being met elsewhere. If you do find yourself here, follow these steps... Ask for three drinks and meal upon seating, leave the exact cash, and go home. If you're going to tip, walk into the kitchen and put it directly in the chef's pocket. read more
