Came to this pub in Roscoe and had a pretty uneven experience. It looks pretty cool inside, with a ton of TVs, and it's got plenty of room. Louie's Tap House is one of the few good hangouts in town. Has tons of local beers. The food menu has burgers and stuff at pretty good prices. A lot of people really come here just to get drunk. It's no wonder because there's a massive beer list. This is shown on a TV and goes through a few screens. A lot of local beers. It's about $8 for some of these. Among these is the Generations Pretzel City. There's tons of food though. It's $12 for the Louie Burger. Make it with a Beyond Burger patty for a couple bucks more. The food isn't really as bad as some people say. One thing sucks to be honest. The service. It was slow getting a small order of a Beyond Burger. This isn't even like it's a real one that gets cooked much. After that it was slow to get the check. The waiting was too long so we left money, though we didn't have enough for a tip. Good food, but it can take a long time, so keep it basic. It's a shame the service is so poor at Loui's because the food is actually pretty good, but because they don't have enough staff or because there is poor communication the experience at Louie's is not good. We called ahead to let them know that 5 adults and two children were coming in for a birthday. We asked to be placed in the back room. They said they didn't take reservations, but the bar tender would be told we were coming and they could accommodate us. We arrived at 11:30 and were told we could seat ourselves in the back room and from that point on we were basically on our own. The bar tender appeared to be the only wait staff. So we went to the bar to order our drinks and then we went back to the bar with our food order. I am in no way blaming the bartender. She was on her own. There were people at the bar that she needed to take care of. However, we ended up getting our own silverware, straws...etc. once the food showed up. But a short time later people started coming into the back room and setting up for a party. And shortly after that we were asked to leave the back area. Our 8 year old birthday boy had not opened his gifts so we hauled the gifts to the bar area where he opened them. This "event" which we'd hoped to make special, was a bit of a disaster. Worst place ever, we get our appetizers and then the women said that they ran out of silverware. Then when we get our food my friend doesn't get there food for another 10 minutes. And then when we were eating my friend found a hair in his burger. And later we were trying to get a box so I could keep my wings and we ask for one and we wait for 15 minutes and they don't give us anything. Ordered from this establishment tonight. I ordered the above listed items for delivery by door dash. The cost of the food without gratuity was 60.00. The onion rings were burned and so greasy, the cheese curds were greasy and pretty much one solid mass of melted cheese mixed with breading and the brownie looked like a store bought item. The crab Rangoon dip was delicious but a very small portion for 13.00 and the Buffalo chicken dip was good. Overall, the prices very pretty high for what you get. I do have to give kudos to the restaurant though because after calling to complain they are sending a gift card to cover the meal. We will probably try indoor dining to alleviate some of the problems. read more

There isn't a whole lot to pick from in town, but maybe not here. We went close to 1. People slowly trickled in until it was busy. The waiter had multiple tables and the bar to tend. There was only one other employee working tables. We got most of our food pretty quickly, but my youngest had to wait a long time because staff was busy. Took a long time to get the check as well. Food was ok. We don't need to go back. They need to hire more staff to accommodate the need, or at least say service will be slow. read more

Our family has tried this bar multiple times, with and without the kiddos. Never once have I been there and not seen something disturbing from staff. About a month ago my daughter her friends and I came in to see the band and the apparent boss was screaming and belligerent. Half the servers were complaining and seemed distressed- and when I came in this past week service was rude and unresponsive. It takes unprofessional to a whole new level. Louie's Tap House in Roscoe is a great hangout spot and features a large range of amenities on the entertainment front that could keep you here all night. If you are looking to order the basics, they definitely have you covered, but unfortunately there are a lot of mixed drinks that I'm accustomed to that they do not know how to make or did not have the ingredients for. I also really wish that the food was better. They have a lot of stuff on the menu that looks good on paper, but the delivery has been rather disappointing to me. I have only ordered appetizers here, but I have never been able to finish them. Not because I got full--but because they just weren't good. I have ordered their nachos and I have ordered their "famous" Crab Rangoon Dip. They exclaim on their menu that the dip was featured as Rockford's #1 dish over 5 years ago, but I cannot see how it would win an award now, so in my opinion that statement should be removed from the menu. It is just misleading now. The chips they provide are messy and too sweet and the dip itself has minimal flavor. This is of course just my opinion. In addition, as other Yelpers have mentioned, the food takes a long time to come out, so stay away if you're in a hurry. My appetizer took about 45 minutes. That said, the girls working front of house were on top of their game and do a good job of taking care of the customers. I'm not confident in the culinary capabilities here at all, but as I said, if you are just looking for a good hangout spot with a few name brand beers Louie's Tap House shouldn't disappoint in that regard. read more

Went there with my daughter to get some dinner. No service the entire 30 minutes we were there. Not even water.

What a super cool establishment this owner has created. I gave him a call to see if we could host our yearly NFL fantasy football league draft here. He welcomed us immediately. Our entire group all appreciated everything you did for us. The place is huge, the food was amazing, they have a laundry list of at least 60 + craft beers to choose from, the staff were all friendly, smiling, the place was very clean, and on and on. We felt bad that our entire group didnt show up to the draft to give this place more business. This is an awesome bar and restaurant I wish I lived closer too! However every single one in our group said we would be back again to eat more and drink in the future being this was all our 1st times visiting here. A huge thanks to Ryan for his hospitality. That night spoke to Kayla and she decided it was my fault for not giving right date, which is so not the case....but after 4 different excuses I guess they decided on that one. The Crab Rangoon dip was really good. They won an award for it. They have an amazing selection of beers with most of them on tap. I also had the Garden Panini with homemade chips. I highly recommend. At my table we also had a chicken sandwich and the Lou Dog. Everything enjoyed their food. I will definitely be back. The service was good as well. read more

I seldom leave a 1 star reviews. Usually it's not worth my time. However, after the visit to Louie's today - wow. This wasn't our first visit - we visited a few times after they opened. Today - 1pm lunch. No host to seat us though the sign said there would be. We had to ask a waitress to be seated. Seated in the dining room. The music in the dining room and the kitchen competed for ear space. Moved to bar area. The chef couldn't be bothered to respect the guests. Hubby and I ordered Chicken Fried Steak and Nachos with Chicken. 15 minutes after ordering we were told that the mashed potatoes hadn't been made yet. Offered roasted potatoes or fries. Offered to make a small batch of potatoes that would only take a couple of minutes. We wanted what we ordered. Opted to wait but said to bring the nachos if ready. A few minutes later the nachos arrive in a metal, round to-go container. Presentation? Fail. Waitress said that's just how they come. $14 nachos in a take out pan? Whatever. Then I felt them. Room temperature. Fail #2. For nachos that were listed in the menu as "Cooked in a 500 degree oven" they weren't hot. Barely warm. We left. Won't be back. Would not recommend. read more

Quite honestly it's a mystery with establishment as to what the goal and or customer persona there trying to reach. We along with so many of our Roscoe and Rockton friends have attempted to embrace and enjoy but consistently it's the oddest experience. This time around the table next to us was loud and obnoxious and politely mentioned to staff -we found out it was the owners and cohorts to make it even more entertaining. Last time we went there we watched the table next to us get so intoxicated they knocked over the table caddy that broke on the floor . The staff walked around this for the next fifteen minutes as if it wasn't there , both instances made it very uncomfortable and we left earlier than had anticipated With the menu changing and food was ok - Rueben was delicious but fries super cold . It seems to be a management issue -or overall direct output of unprofessional values the owners convey towards their staff . Sadly as it's a great location and most often the staff are consistently young sometimes a bit naive to what's occurring around them but overall try really hard . read more

We have been going to Louies since Early 2020. The atmosphere is great and there are plenty of things to keep you entertained. I would recommend their Ginger Teryaki Chicken wings. Louies has a great craft beer selection, you should definitely include this as an option for lunch, dinner, or to catch a game! read more

This place started off good with some good guacamole. But then we got the fish tacos , was given the ahi instead of the tacos , then they fixed it and brought us the cod fish tacos. The cod was literally raw by the look. I didn't eat one bite. Not coming back here . Apparently the raw fish has happened before according to the reviews on here. Food: burgers anyway seem about equal with the Culver's in town. Beer: fantastic selection of local as well as imports but paying $4.75-6 per draft. Service: Dude stays on top of it. But, made errors on the bill, but did correct it. Location: remodeled. Look to have a mini putt out back might be a key place on a date in the summer. Ok, but certainly not Great. I wandered in, looking for food, not even sure if they offered food, from the signage outside offering Breakfast. Basically a loud sports bar, with a number of large TV screens. Wanting a regular-height table, I was seated in the overflow area by the kitchen. Over-bright neon signs scattered around plain walls, with otherwise rather blah decor. The nice waitress (Taylor F.) suggested the evening special of a half-rack of ribs with two sides, for $15. I couldn't pass it up, and got the mac-n-cheese and coleslaw. Relatively quickly it was delivered by someone else. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, but otherwise unexceptional. I suspect they were cooked in the oven. The mac looked great, a larger-than-expected cup, but were disappointing. The runny cheese sauce was all on the bottom, so it was mostly "mac", and not much "cheese". No flavor, and even adding generous quantities of hot sauce could not save them. The Slaw was cut in very long lengths, making it hard to eat, also with way too much thin sauce. Again, bland and unmemorable (although the waitress gushed over them). The scrolling beer menu digital sign was exceedingly annoying. By the time I read down half-way, it scrolled to the next section. Perhaps "modern" and geared toward those who know what they want, but it was just way too aggravating for me. Of course, not enough room to put any real information on each beer on the board. And, guess what, not everyone has a smart phone, or wants to spend time on it, while dining. A printed beer menu, even if photocopied, would be highly preferable. I did end up buying a local beer, which was ok. It did not come in the right glass from that brewery, but it was a craft brewery glass. Expensive beer, supposedly 16oz, but I'm thinking it was more like 12oz. Same size glass as I have at home, which a 12oz. bottle fills up. The waitress was ok, the ribs were ok, at best, but the side dishes need serious work. A rather plain presentation of the slab of ribs, and two cups. No garnish, no sharp knife (although it was not really needed), just a plain plate with food. No pizzazz. Reading the other reviews encourages me to try it again some time (but something different, obviously). Dinner without tip was $22.45, which seems like more than plenty. read more

First time dining at Louis tap house! Great service! Our waitress took good care of us! Helped me with the large draft beer menu! Suggested a local brew made by pig minds! Vanilla Bitch slap! Very tasty! I recommend you try it! I heard about the Crab Rangoon dip from a friend so I had to have it! Outstanding! The dip was savory but the key to it was the honey drizzled wonton chips! The combo of sweet and savory was perfect! The menu was simple but offered a good selection! I had the Louie Burger with bacon! It was a good sandwich! Fresh toppings and a great bun! I chose as a side to have the house made chips! Very good as well! My wife had the French dip! I had a bite! Loved it! The house made chips were Very crispy but without that burnt taste you normally get with a house chip! They do have soup but it was not on the menu so be sure to ask what kind the chef has to offer! They had chicken tortilla the night I stopped in! I did not have any due to the crab rangoon I ordered but chicken tortilla is one I'd like to try! They had a nice variety of TV's for viewing sports! Louie's how do I love thee? First off you have a great and I mean GREAT layout in your place. I've been to many a tap house and yours has got to be on my top 10 list. You have outstanding servers, and bartenders. There are plenty of spots at the bar, and you have great entertainment on. You have good food, and I need to actually try more to comment fully on the restaurant side of things. You have provided an amazing selection of fine beverages from all the corners of our great beer drinking nation. What I don't like: No samples. Really? I cant get a tablespoon of beer to see if it tastes like dog piss? I get that you had some people abuse this... get over it. At your prices (yes they are a tad high) you can absorb some samples. I suggest you vette these mooching losers out, post their picture on the no sample list or whatever. Heck limit samples to two per person and have them be a 1oz shot glass? I'm sitting at your bar running two beer apps, I'm taking pictures, talking to the bartender. After 6 beers I would think you can recognize a beer connoisseur. Learn who the dead beats are and learn who will keep your place in business - that is my advice. A tap house without samples won't last long, you guys do have competition not that far away... and they have sampling as do all tap houses. I think you just need a system to prevent abuse, but taking away what makes a tap house a special experience is not the way to do it. read more

You want to sell me a five ounce taste or flights. If you have people that abuse that then limit them to 2 tastes. Get real, we are talking an ounce here. We were there on a Sunday afternoon. Sat outside. Service and food was very good. Except the fries, they were terrible. Didn't eat more than 2 if them. Good fries are key in this type if eating establishment. They were undercooked, soft, and lukewarm. Food was a pleasant surprise first time I was there I had there crab Rangoon chips and dip so good!! Second visit I tried there brown sugar salmon and it was also very good! Ordered the family chicken parm meal to go. It is only a 4 minute drive from there to our home . Food was cold! Actually, the chicken was slightly warm but I am pretty certain the cooked chicken was placed on top of cooked pasta straight out of a refrigerator. The description of the meal says: "This Thursday enjoy our homemade Chicken Parmesan 'Family Style' Dinners to go or delivered hot to your door!! " Hmmmm. Love this local bar and restaurant. We wanted to keep this place open during all the lock downs so we ordered curb side pick up whenever we could. I love just about everything. I love the fish fry and my husband loves the loaded fries. Salads are big, great wings, and so many beers to choose from. We're there at least once a week since moving closer. Best bartender, hands down, is Kennady. Don't know how she keeps it all straight, but she's got it down to a science, makes it look easy, and all while keeping your glass full. read more

This place really is terrible. If you want an overpriced beer, head over. If you want edible food, find another establishment.

All in all I wasn't satisfied with our experience at all. Here are my reasons. To start, we walked in and waited for a minute since there wasn't a sign that stated "wait to be seated" or "seat yourself". While standing near the door, a few employees walked by without saying anything. Not even a friendly smile. We sat ourselves at a table. A server walked up after we were looking around waiting for services for 5 minutes. She asked if we needed help and my girlfriend said yes please. A different server then brought us menus and asked to get us a beverage. We asked for waters then asked for a drink menu and she said to go on google and then there website.... what? She came back with one water and I asked her if I may have a water too. She said "oh sorry, I didn't know you wanted one." Is it not common knowledge to bring waters to your guests? I ordered a can of ballast point mango session IPA, and she asked about wines. "Do you have a merlot or Cabernet?" She said she didn't know and then literally never mentioned it again through the rest of our visit. "So I guess she didn't care to get her a beverage for the rest of the night. After I got my beer we ordered an appetizer and she said the kitchen closed in 30 minutes so out of respect we just gave her the whole order. Our tator tachos came out and before I could even take my second bite our entrees came out. My Lou dog was cold and my chips were stale. I was waiting for the server to come back but the she didn't not come back until 9:15. Which, we ordered our food at 8:30. Food was definitely rushed out and then her coming back at 9:15. This leaves too much time to not do a table touch. My girlfriends shrimp tacos were subpar and she had only ate the shrimp. The server never asked about our food as both of our plates were pushed to he other side of the table. She asked if we were don't and took the plates. Our best friends took us here about 4 months previously, and it's now one of our local favorites. Been back 7 or 8 times, and always impressed by how good the food is. The waitstaff is very friendly, willing to split our meal into separate plates, and knows the menu. Our favorite go-to is the Braised Beef Short Rib dinner. It's carrots, celery, onions, and a demi-glace sauce over mashed potatoes. My wife and I easily split the meal. We've had the Walleye dinner, which is lightly breaded, and sits over buttermilk mashed potatoes. It comes with a side of really good cole slaw. Delicious every time. The Turkey Pot Pie is served with a house made pie crust, and includes seasonal vegetables. The turkey pieces are large, juicy, and tastes great. They are slices from an actual turkey breast, not pressed breast meat. The white sauce is flavorful. The Beef Stroganoff is also to die for, comes with crimini mushrooms, buttery egg noodles, and a delicious beef gravy. We have a hard time venturing to a new item on the menu, we like these dinners so much. Yes, the prices are slightly high, but the quality of the dinner makes up for the one or two dollars you might spend more on than somewhere else. We always choose to dine in the back room, which is all low tables. So far, it's been much quieter than the front of the house. read more
