Food: I ordered The texans burrito and asked did they use tortilla but unfortunately the nice lady didn't understand english much. She did understand enough to cook my tuna because they serve it uncooked. Also consuming uncooked tuna or salmon may increase your risk of food borne illnesses. Surprisingly they had a lot of stuff on their menu so I ordered some veggie eggrolls and cheese rangoons. Everything was ok but nothing to call home about. As I was leaving, I noticed that the nice lady was using her hands and fingers without gloves to refill the orange sauce that she offers for the eggrolls. I felt like that was cross contamination at its best and she should use gloves and a spoon to refill that sauce. That alone will prevent me from going back. I will just go to chipotle if I want a bowl or burrito next time. They do get a lot of business though, Mostly to go orders and I hope they are careful with preparing their food when noone is looking next time. read more

Choose-your-own poke bowl in Houston area, Poke Chef 2 in Humble, TX, serves up huge delicious bowls of rice and raw fish at very reasonable prices. It was excellent. After arriving in Houston, the plan to eat at a nearby Nigerian restaurant fell through, so my brother and I adjusted and came here for poke after reading the very positive reviews on-line. It's build your own, and the list of proteins is the typical with ahi tuna and salmon being the two main choices. A 3 scoop bowl is $15, and their variety of toppings was as big as any I've been to before. Everything was fresh, and unlike other places where they give you a little less of each as you order more, here they piled in on. A metal mixing bowl is used, and I was sure that there was no way the ingredients that I chose would all fit into the finishing bowl...but the attendant knew better: it all did. We brought it home, and it tasted really good, though I wish I had gotten less ingredients. Next time, I'll ask for the preparer's advice and follow it...knowing that the fresh, good ingredients would make it delicious. read more

Wow! I always order the "Deep Diver" and it's incredible! This is definitely the best poke place I've ever been to. The poke bowl is fresh, crunchy, and delicious, no poke place compares to Poke Chef. The service is good because the people serving there are very friendly and nice. It's located in a busy shopping center by Walmart. It's worth the drive if you want to pay $17 for a quick inexpensive sushi fix. The owners are super nice too! I always order the Large Poke Bowl with 3 protein: 2x spicy salmon and 1x spicy tuna with so many add ons free of charge. The quality has been consistently fresh. You get to choose your add ons, and sauces so it's well worth your money. They also have some add ons that you have to pay extra so be aware of that. It's like going to Subway, but with sushi! The poke bowl is always filled to the brim! I like to support the local places and if you're in a rush it takes less than 10 minutes to get in and out. Everything is fresh and of good quality. That said, I'll say that I didn't really like the house poke sauce, which has a bit of an odd flavor profile, so my meal here wasn't as enjoyable as it could've been. The female employee serving me helped me pick out what items to add to the bowl. I chose sushi rice, spicy tuna, edamame, cilantro, red onion, pineapple, cabbage, jalapeño, and carrots. I then added umami shoyu and house pouzu sauce. I put some daikon, green onions, crab, onion crisps and garlic crisps all in my bowl. The whole thing was delicious from start to finish. You choose your rice and 2 proteins plus up to 15 toppings, sauces, seasonings and crunch! It is priced well and best of all the flavor is delicious. I topped with Poke Chef Classic sauce and asked for spicy ponzu on the side. I was super hungry but still left a few bites because it was so packed. Since it was my first time, they had no problem explaining to me how everything worked and even gave me samples of stuff that I wasn't sure about. they have specialty bowls that have pre-chosen items or you can customize your own bowl. I got a giant ass bowl of food for 14 bucks. It's absolutely delicious and I don't feel completely bloated after I ate it. Look for the laser light of the logo on the sidewalk. I went with one of their special suggestions as I wasn't really sure what might work together but next time I will probably invent my own. The set up is similar to a mongolian place where you pick everything you'd like in a bowl and they make it only its poke so it's not cooked. I would think it would be hard to keep the fish fresh in a place like this, but it was really sushi grade and tasty. I highly suggest this if you are a fan of poke. read more
