I chose the Build Your Bowl option, combining cooked salmon with a variety of fresh mix-ins and sauces. I also ordered the pork dumplings and a miso soup. Everything came out fresh, hot where it needed to be, and beautifully presented. The cooked salmon was tender and flavorful. It had a clean, mild taste that didn't over power the fresh ingredients in the bowl. The bowl was colorful and vibrant with crisp vegetables, good texture contrast, and generous portions. The pork dumplings were hot and steamed with just the right amount of filling and wrapper, juicy without being soggy. The miso soup was comforting, savory and gently salted (that's a plus for me) with seaweed and tofu. May took her time to walk me through the toppings, flavor combinations, and sauce options. She was patient with my questions and gave thoughtful recommendations. The pace was relaxed so I never felt rushed. The interior is casual and clean with some seating if you would like to dine in, though many people also order takeout. The personal touch really elevated the experience and knowing the owner is hands on helps create a welcoming vibe. For what you get, the quality of the ingredients, the ability to customize, and the extra touches, the prices felt fair. Portions were generous, particularly for the bowl. This is such a sloppy make of sushi! the ginger was not fresh, looks like it has been left out for a long time and got some dark stain on it. This is a perfect addition to RVC, something fresh and light - perfect for the summer - I walked by a few times and planned on going in especially when they had a sign that said buy a bowl get a smoothie half price (I think it said that) but alas by the time I made it there the sign was gone !!! I went to order a poke bowl to go. I appreciate the self ordering kiosk. I got a create your own bowl half rice half salad with a bunch of different toppings and shrimp. Dressing on side. Finally found a restaurant in Rockville center that's worth eating at ! The aesthetic isn't really oriented towards a sit down place. More like a takeout place but they do have a few tables. The food is excellent though. The poke was fresh and flavorful. The steamed dumplings were hot, moist and delicious. Service was fast and friendly. Portion size was appropriate to the price. It was just ok. Server was pleasant but service is slow and it wasn't even busy. I usually go to my regular spot but hey, it's good to explore so I did and nah, I will be sticking to my place. I had spicy salmon and I don't know what they add in the mix but it was too thin. Some other items they had on display looked questionable. and OMG the wasabi......... I saw it was very watery and didn't look right. It was not even normal green color. It looked like light green clay. I can't even describe that freakin color. lol. I am glad I didn't get it. Tonight was a total mess up. We ordered online to pick up and our two bowls were prepared wrong. We ordered two bowls with special instructions and both were wrong. I've had food from here before, but never ordered online before. The food is good and fresh but I would beware of making special orders online. It seemed as if the people making the bowls did not read the instructions. The order was clearly printed properly on our receipt. Very upsetting. We had to drive back after we got home to get them to correct the mistakes. They apologized and made them over, but it was still a hassle to go back and forth and park in RVC. I think they should have had better customer service and at least offered us an appetizer or something for our inconvenience. I usually don't write many reviews, but I was so frustrated ordering from this place. Online it says they open at 11:30, so that's when I ordered and paid online. Then I get there around 11:45 for my lunch break and they are CLOSED. No one was there to answer the phones. So after like 10 minutes I give up, go back to work, and left a message and figured I'd have to go back and get my money back. Then I get a call an HOUR AND A HALF later from them saying that my order is ready. What?! I still wanted it so I agreed to go back but then I get there and they pretend like they don't understand what Im saying and told me my order has been ready and they opened at 11:40. Like please don't lie to me -_- obviously not if I couldn't even get a call back. And she acted like she was doing me a favor. Don't order from here if you're in a rush because apparently the business hours online are not accurate. So unprofessional.
