Coming from a pretty high experience in California with amazing poke I'm glad to come across a place that reminds me a bit of that experience. We decided to do 2 build your own bowls which honestly you can go crazy with your options here and I would suggest getting the crab and crispy onions as well as sesame seeds on top. We also got a kids bowl that was California roll inspired and my daughter left nothing behind. We decided to dine in and were the only ones so it gave a very quiet ambiance. It is very busy otherwise for take out so there are orders constantly going out the door. Staff was very friendly and the only tricky thing about this place will be parking. Cute little spot with yummy poke bowls! Def worth the visit if you are in the area. You grab a list and mark off all the veggie/meat/topping choices. It's so helpful and def makes the process quicker! I love this idea! I wish more places would do the same. The tea is just fine. Nothing to rave about. 4/5 for poke & 2/5 for boba. I was so so disappointed in their boba. I got a honeydew milk tea ($5) and it literally tasted like water and honeydew powder... The only thing that made up for the lack of drink were their cute cups! I loved their cute cups, but it doesn't make up for the fact that my boba tasted like water :( As for the poke, it was pretty good! Not one of the bests but can definitely hit the craving. They were priced really well and had great portion sizes. My friend and I got the build your own bowls w/ two scoops of protein ($12.95). Hits the Poke itch in the inland Midwest - keep in mind that the refrigerator poke bowl with stale rice at nearby Whole foods costs the same. Honestly I like this place and I would come back because it is quick and affordable (poke in my opinion is a good cheap alternative if you are craving sushi). I would give the poke bowl here a 4/5 and the bubble tea 2/5, so I think a 3 is the most fair. As for the poke I have always build my own bowl. I've only had the spicy salmon protein so I can't say about the others. The salmon is good and I think the portion is fair. I would say though that the food portion consistency is off (guess it depends on the person making it). They have a couple additional add ones like avocado that is an additional $1 which I think sucks (other poke places included that as an option without an additional charge)- but it's whatevers. The bubble tea on the other hand is nahh just okay. It's definitely watery and bitter. I would like it a bit sweeter or at least have the option to choose a sweetness level. I've also found the bubble tea to be inconsistent. The service on the other hand is good- friendly and helpful staff for the most part. Parking is street parking only- I had to park in the neighborhood a couple of times but overall not a problem. read more

Stopped in for lunch after a long day. I just searched on Yelp for sushi restaurants and the first place I tried looked like a fish ahop not a restaurant so this was my second choice. So glad the first place was a bust because that poke bowl was the bomb!! Thry have bowls with cooked or raw protein. I ended up getting the dragon bowl. This place is great! There are not a lot of poke options near me and I really appreciate something other than hamburgers and pizza in the Twin Cities. Both of the times I have visited Poke House there was no wait to order food which is always a plus. This place has no indoor seating due to COVID and only has street parking. I chose to make my own Poke Bowl and it was fantastic. There are plenty of options and everything tastes very fresh. All of the ingredients come together for a nice medley of flavors in your bowl. The food comes out pretty fast, I got the salmon with pretty much all the veggies I could add on their with some chow mein on top. The chow mein noodles threw we off because I was expecting it to be something smaller since they called it something else, but it's okay. Staff was friendly and patient with all our questions for our orders. I would come back again if I was in the area, prices are reasonable as well. Fish tasted pretty good, not a super fish after taste at the end so that's a good sign. The bubble tea cups here are so cute too! I was so excited to try this place since I mean a poke place within the area, right on! It was good. However I did have some issues with it. They give you a ton of meat which is awesome for the price but the pieces of poke were huge I personally like my poke cut smaller and some of them were not even cubes they were just strips which wasn't appetizing to me. Another thing is they call them wonton chips but truly they are chow mein noodles so that was disappointing. Lastly I prefer poke places that distribute the items throughout the bowl instead of doing little areas with the different items, it makes it really hard to get everything then. I've been to several Poke places in the TC area and Poke House is a decent place in the Saint Paul area. Poke house gives you a menu to mark all your choices on and they have a good variety of proteins, toppings, and sauces. They have options between brown rice and white rice if you want a bowl or you can choose to have a wrap. The bowl I had was very flavorful and ingredients were fresh. They also offer a large variety of teas/smoothies. The space is a decent size with quite a few places to sit. Service was great and the staff were friendly. My only complaint is that I felt the bowls were a little small. I was still a little hungry afterward. Even if your order-in they still give you your food in a to-go like container so it's a little wasteful, but they do use recyclable/compostable products. read more

Environment is relaxed if you decide to eat in (most people seem to order for take out). There are only a few tables, so a larger group is not recommended unless you order ahead. This is a great place to eat if you want to try something new at a reasonable price. I usually build my own poke bowl with two proteins (this is a little cheaper than getting one of their signature bowls). Only recommendation is I wish they used less plastic. And totally out of place in old Mac-Grove/Highland. Not a bad thing. What is definitely bad is the wasteful use of plastics and paper for all dishes - from the make your own poke menus to the tea straws, and- groan-the big bowls with clear lids. Why?! Most people are eating in, right? Anyway, my steamed shrimp and salmon with (slightly spicy) poke sauce was great. Her tuna and salmon bowl with a mix of sauces was good if a bit bland. It would have helped to have slightly more descriptive menu options, especially on the choose your own adventure list. Both tapioca bubble teas stood up nicely. We will try the poke burritos next visit. Update: July 2019. Went back for the sushi style burrito. Two thumbs up . Menu is out front and seems simpler. Service was great. The first time I ordered 2 protein but all my visits after that has been 3 protein with sushi rice and every time the portions are always the same. They give you just the perfect amount of rice and the perfect amount of protein. My usual order usually includes: Base: Sushi rice Protein: Salmon, Tuna x2 Sauce: Spicy mayo, house poke, and sriracha (I've also had house ponzu instead of spicy mayo and not much of a difference in taste when mixed with the others) Mix-ins: Cucumber x2, jalapeno x2 Toppings: Pickled ginger, fish egg, sesame seeds I try not to put too much unnecessary things in my bowl because I want to be able to enjoy the fish. I do appreciate that they actually state that the spicy tuna and salmon are grounded because I do not like ground fish. Another thing that the bf loves ordering from here is their flavor tea. He always orders a mango green tea, 0 sugar, and lychee jelly. We are very happy that this place is located here. We ordered delivery through DoorDash and anxiously awaited our bowls. Despite the complexity of ordering (pick your proteins, pick your rice, pick your veggies, pick your sauce), each bowl was perfect. It was also really beautiful, with ingredients thoughtfully arranged and presented in such a lovely manner. I was a bit worried with reviews reporting that the seasoning was overpowering or bland. But I thought the poke was good. It's true that it wasn't as seasoned as some poke in like Hawaii but I did not think it was bad or bland. It was in fact, pretty darn tasty. The avocado serving was generous, but I was still glad I doubled down on the avocado. Sauces were delicious. Oh, and I also got a bowl of miso soup, which was absolutely great. Heavy with the miso mixed into the soup, large heavy pieces of seaweed and large cubes of soft tofu. I thoroughly enjoyed it. We will order again for sure. read more

Saw this little gem in between Saint Paul Academy & Cretin Derham. So I decided to give it a try. And it was totally worth it. Very relaxing place and modern open scale kitchen. The bowl was very good & had the right blend of sauces. You do get a lot for what you pay. The portion is good. The sushi burrito is basically the same as the poke bowl, only difference is the burrito you get the seaweed wrap. Overall great place, great staff & food was done fast and efficient. This was absolutely the worst poke bowl I've ever had. The fish was not fresh, the tuna was especially disgusting and rancid. The tuna had a "grainy" texture. It was extremely chewy. I bet that it maybe wasn't even actual tuna. It's probably some other cheaper fish dyed red. I couldn't even eat it, it was so bad I was gagging. The salmon wasn't bad but it was tasteless. Horrible quality in fish. And that's the whole point of this place? Tuna is supposed to be fresh, soft, and full of flavor. Salmon is supposed to be buttery melt in your mouth. This was none of these things and infact disgusting. I would compare the quality to premade grocery store sushi. The "mixed greens" was SHREDDED ICEBURG LETTUCE!! Like what you'd get on a fucking mcchicken sandwich. I never thought seaweed salad could be bad either but it taste RANCID!! I used to live in Hawaii. This is not poke. It's not even nice as "sushi". The ingredients are not fresh or high quality. I took about 4 bites before I started spitting it out and gagging. I spent 40$ on two bowls and barely got to eat any of it. The place is disgusting and I think it's overhyped because midwesterners don't have taste buds or know what good quality fish is. The spicy sauce was not spicy. It taste like mayonnaise with 15 grams of sugar in it. It was sweet. I really don't recommend this place if you have good taste in sushi. Had the spicy salmon sushi burrito and my uncle got the house poke. The sushi burrito was a good size and had a good amount of everything inside. At $9.95 it's comparable to other places, but I think they give you more for your money here. The only thing with the poke bowl was it was a bit too much fish, not enough rice. That sounds like a weird complaint but it was just a little overpowering. But if that is the biggest complaint, then they are doing something right. Good job on your first day!
