My coworkers and I ordered lunch last week. The order was correct and everyone seemed to like their food (bowls, fried rice etc). I ordered the shumai (pork and shrimp dumplings). That evening I started with food poisoning (dr confirmed). I am now on day 5. So no not recommending this restaurant. I know mistakes happen however this is just not ok. The poke is good. But I find the whole tipping situation very sleazy in this place. I order my food at the counter. I get a very similar service at McDonald's or the grocery store. After I scan my card, the screen asks me if I want to tip 15%, 20% etc. I of course choose not to tip in this situations. However, the cashier then gives my the look that he is going to poison my food. Restaurants like this should not put their customers in such situations where they are forced to tip when tipping is not customary. Next time I might order via uber eats, at least then I'll get service. read more

There is also a large selection of interesting milk tea flavors I have not found in other places. I was trying to find a place to eat with my family and friends after a day at Dorney Park, which was only about 5mins away. This shop looks like a take out from the outside. The inside isn't big, with only a few 4 seaters tables. Then I was trying to grab a high chair for my 8mos old baby, but the two that I saw were soo sticky. I rather she just sit on my husband or my lap. But why did I still give a 4 stars. I believe the customer service here definitely earns that. And their food isnt that bad at all too. So let's talk about their customers service. The cashier or maybe even the manager (I'm not 100% sure on that though) was very friendly, very professional, and very patient with me. There were some customization with my food and drinks. It might have been a miscommunication between the cashier and the staff making the orders by the bar. They quickly resolve that for me. Later on, I realized one of my drink was requested no ice because I plan on putting that into the fridge for tomorrow, which I mentioned to the cashier why I don't want ice when I placed the order. But the drink came out with ice. I figured this is a small issue. At most, the drink might be somewhat diluted since by tomorrow, the ice for sure will all be melted. The cashier apologized and went back into the store and actually made me a new one without ice this time! I was definitely not expecting that. Honestly, alot of other places would just apologize, or some don't even apologize, and would just leave it as that. This actions just tells me their customers service is superb! Food wise, their food is not too bad. Of course I have been to better poke bowl restaurants, but around this area, Poke Kai really isn't too bad. Both my husband and I ordered a custom poke bowl with 2 proteins. Second protein is add $2 on top. I also ordered chicken wings with hot & honey sauce on the side and a gyoza, which is fried. These two appetizers were pretty crispy. I personally like the wings. My husband ordered a guava fruit tea. I tried it, pretty good. I had the lemon fruit tea with less sugar first. That one is toooo sour for me. If you like sour, you probably can tolerate that, but I definitely cant. I ended up with a lychee fruit tea with lychee jelly and less sugar. Now that was good. Then I have a coffee milk tea that I saved for the next day. When I drank that the next morning, it was alright. I probably would just order milk tea instead of coffee milk tea if I ever go back. read more

Someone Poke me! Kai think I'm in heaven! So I popped in here for first time simply on a whim to grab a bite while doing some paperwork before my next appointment. Paperwork did not happen. I could not stop watching the gentleman carefully and meticulously craft my poke bowl as if it was his last chance to do anything meaningful in this world. The care and concern he showed in presentation, proper ingredient amounts, and just the perfect sauce to cuisine ratio... this is my Asian brother from anotha motha. If Subway has sandwich artists this guy is the da Vinci of Asian cuisine. The mastery of craft was a foreshadowing of the delicious, fresh-caught, celestial bowl of perfect ingredients that stole my attention from all the life I had to accomplish today. I post the picture of my poke bowl. Just the bowl- and the reason for this is my hands were paralyzed with delight. I could not stop the chopsticks who were quite happy to continue piling in this blissful experience. The staff was very helpful walking me through my options and helping me create my own delectable poke bowl. All the ingredients are very fresh and tasted outstanding. They have many different sauces to choose from. The staff allowed me to sample as many as I wanted so I could make an informed decision on my sauces. I settled on the yuzu sauce and the ponzu sauce with wasabi on the side. The proteins I chose were tuna, salmon and shrimp. Give the seaweed salad a try. You won't be disappointed. I also got a Taro bubble tea. This place just opened in April and it is going to be a local hit once word gets around. I am no cheap skate, but for the portion and ingredients included, it was a bit much, BUT I am glad I tried Poke Kai! A great variety of fresh ingredients to choose from with their customized poke bowl option. You get to pick any base and add additional proteins for a great price; the toppings included were plentiful as well! There are great sauces to accent the bowl, and they are happy to let you try any of the flavors etc. ... the complimentary fruit infused water was refreshing. This place is rated really well, so I'm surprising I'm giving a 2 star. It's a really rare rating for me. The inside needs an update for sure, but they have this really cute Hunter x Hunter mural. That was cool. My boyfriend customized a poke bowl, and then I got their Salmon Bowl. My boyfriend's was better than mine, but they were both gross. I couldn't take more than two bites of mine. The seaweed salad tasted like it had sat out for a while, it so slimy and pungent. The rice was either cheap or undercooked. The salmon was fine, but I miss poke from home (Richmond, VA). I took her and her friend here to get some and the dudes behind the counter were super friendly and willing to answer all our questions as I was new to the bubble tea game. We couldn't decide between a couple of different options and when we finally picked one, the guy gave us a free drink to try. It was the other option we were trying to decide between... Cool little place with so many options it will make your head spin. Hint: There's a little printed sheet of all the sauces and what is exactly in the sauces. The bubble tea here is good. I think if you like more tea flavors then this is the place for you. I usually like sweeter bubble teas but I don't mind their boba here at all; its still great! Definitely recommend the food & drinks here. I've been following them on Instagram since they opened a few weeks ago and was pumped to finally try this place out. They have a "create your own" poke option allowing you to choose what goes into your bowl, but if you're new to poke there are some pre-selected bowls available on the menu. We started with some lumpia (kind of like a vegetable spring roll) and some crab rangoon. The latter could be improved, but the lumpia was very good. My friend and I both decided to create our own bowls so we had an assortment of vegetables and protein. If you aren't a fan of seafood, you can add chicken or tofu. I don't always love a raw ahi tuna, but I took a risk today and this place did it right. It was perfectly prepared and so fresh. All their ingredients are fresh and aesthetically pleasing, and it is all presented beautifully in their eco-friendly bowls. I also ordered a strawberry-lemon tea, which came in a really neat clear tumbler. You can add a straw or pop open the tab to make a little sippy cup. These are also beautiful with huge slices of fresh fruit. Several flavors of boba tea are available, and I am excited to try one on my next visit. It just opened so they're still setting up and decorating, but the vibe is clean and fun. The staff is amazing and friendly. I'm looking forward to visiting again! read more

Let me tell you, I've been craving for poke since moving to Allentown. I've been saying we need a poke place and a boba place for the longest time. And Poke Kai showed up on Yelp! I was so excited to try it. Poke Kai did not disappoint! The food was delicious, the fruit tea was good, and the bubble tea was yummy as well. There has not been any authentic boba place in Allentown so I'm so happy they offer that. It is not as authentic as those in Philly, but I'm confident to say it's the best one I've tried in Allentown. The price is pretty reasonable for both the poke bowl and boba. The customer service is off the chart! This lady that helped us was so sweet. I wish I asked for her name. We did have to come back because they mixed up me and my boyfriends order. But she made it okay, even though there were other customers in store, she just remade our poke bowl for us. I have heard about Poke Kai and read a lot of great reviews! I finally ordered a custom poke bowl. I had 2 portions of salmon, white rice as my base, cucumber, carrots, mango, avocado, sesame seeds, edamame, crispy garlic, masago (tiny fish eggs like tobiko) and ginger. I didn't read a lot of reviews that talked about the sauces. I did, however, find one that had a description of them. I chose the eel sauce, and I added 2 of them, but it was thick like honey, so I only needed to use 1 for the entire bowl. It was on the sweet side, but it paired well with the salmon, mango, and everything I ordered for my custom bowl. I would like to try the other sauces, but I do not want to order 2 different kinds and then realize I liked one over the other and then wouldn't have enough to cover my bowl. I like a lot of sauce mixed in. So, that is why the eel sauce worked for me. My daughter ordered the Thai bubble tea with tapioca type boba. I did not care for the boba, as it was very mushy like tapioca. I am not a huge fan of tapioca, so that is probably why. I will try one of the fruit bubble teas the next time I order. I 100% recommend Poke Kai. Everything was super fresh, and I was in food heaven with every bite!!!! You will not be disappointed. read more
