I have heard about Poke Kai and read a lot of great reviews! I finally ordered a custom poke bowl. I had 2 portions of salmon, white rice as my base, cucumber, carrots, mango, avocado, sesame seeds, edamame, crispy garlic, masago (tiny fish eggs like tobiko) and ginger. I didn't read a lot of reviews that talked about the sauces. I did, however, find one that had a description of them. I chose the eel sauce, and I added 2 of them, but it was thick like honey, so I only needed to use 1 for the entire bowl. It was on the sweet side, but it paired well with the salmon, mango, and everything I ordered for my custom bowl. I would like to try the other sauces, but I do not want to order 2 different kinds and then realize I liked one over the other and then wouldn't have enough to cover my bowl. I like a lot of sauce mixed in. So, that is why the eel sauce worked for me. My daughter ordered the Thai bubble tea with tapioca type boba. I did not care for the boba, as it was very mushy like tapioca. I am not a huge fan of tapioca, so that is probably why. I will try one of the fruit bubble teas the next time I order. I 100% recommend Poke Kai. Everything was super fresh, and I was in food heaven with every bite!!!! You will not be disappointed. read more

Just tried this place for the first time. I love poke and get it all the time in NYC so I was very happy to have one close to me. There is another poke place on Tilghman St and it's a bit out of the way but I loveee that place. Only reason this place gets 4 stars and not 5 is because unlike the other place, this one doesn't have that many options for the bowls. You are charged $1 for avocado and get a finger sized portion. The other place gives you half an avocado and it's free. This place doesn't have crab salad as a mix in while the other place does and they don't have a limit on their mix ins. They offer BBQ Eel as a protein and that's my favorite. While the food is pretty good here and the Strawberry Lemon Tea is awesome, I have to say I'll stick to the other poke place in town. I hope this place does stick around because Allentown is lacking in exotic food places. Post-edit for owner. You are right, I wasn't charged for the avocado. After doing a search for poke bowls, Poke Kai was one of the best rated returns so we tried it. After ordering there, we can see why. Unlike chains like Freshido, which we enjoy, this place has more base, protein, and toppings to offer. My wife and I ordered two build your own bowls, hers w/ salmon, mine w/ tofu, and we both thought it was about the freshest, most satisfying poke bowl joints we've been too. So the owner said that Poke Kai has been around for about a year now, we came by and order the tuna poke and chicken fried rice. The fried rice was surprisingly decent for a poke shop, but the tuna poke was just ok... then the owner came out to gave a free sample of the house poke and that was delicious! So I would def. Recommend the House Poke Bowl over others! Also, we made the mistake of ordering over Grubhub and paid about $1-3 more for everything, so I would just call the store to place your order! Found this gem while sitting in hospital parking lot searching for dinner options and we were off.. We had read the seafood was fresh.. BUT we were not prepared.. .. crazy good! One shrimp fried rice later .. people, the shrimp are usually mini canned shrimp.. these Real full sized, shrimp that taste like they were just caught.. no funny texture.. cooked perfectly! And 2 house POKE Bowls! Life changing!! Just kept finding more of the delicious fresh seafood goodness, Ahi, salmon and shrimp.. I could not pick a favorite.. it was utterly AMAZING! I frequent Poke Kai for lunch. I notice the foot traffic increasing so I know it's not my own kept secret anymore, and thankfully because they deserve the business. I have had enough bowls to earn a free one on my punch card. I always custom my bowl just cause I like things a little spicier than most. Every single ingredient is fresh every single time. I love this place. When I moved to Lehigh Valley from San Francisco, which is flooded with boba and poke places, I was a little nervous about finding somewhere to satisfy my cravings. After looking around, and trying a few places...I found it! Poke Kai is the BEST spot in Allentown of its kind. I love being able to create my own for such a reasonable price. The variety of toppings they have are enough to even satisfy my picky boyfriend. Their bubble tea is handsdown the best I've had out here so far. I love that they put actual grapefruit in their grapefruit tea, and unlike a lot of places their drinks aren't overly sugary. To top it off,the customer service is excellent. I love the food but they are too understaffed to handle a Friday or Saturday night rush. I'm here on Friday night at 6:10 pm. There are 15 tickets/orders waiting to be filled and one woman making bowls and one making drinks. I've been here 20 minutes and two orders were filled. On Saturday afternoon I was in the mood for "something different" and chose this place based on the Yelp reviews. I was glad I did! The House Special was delicious with raw salmon and tuna that melted in your mouth, and the combination of spicy mayo and eel sauces gave it just a little kick. It was the most expensive poke, but definitely worth the low $13 price. The man at the register was very helpful with my different questions, both when I was ordering and after I finished, as this was my first time having a poke. I wasn't a fan of the honey boba in the bubble tea, but it was also a first time trying it, but that's on me and not on them. I did like the flavor of the crystal boba from the samples that the man at the register brought out for me to try after I had said I wasn't a fan of the honey bona, so I'll have to make sure I order them the next time I try a bubble tea. The variety of the poke bowls are great. Also, if there isn't one you like on the menu, you can make your own for 8.95 which is what my husband and I did. I had a salmon poke bowl and he had a tuna poke bowl. FYI, for sauces, if you arent sure or haven't had any of them, it is best to have them on the side and taste before you put it in your poke bowl. This is from first hand experience with my husband. He ended up not liking the sauce and didnt eat all of it due to that. We ordered the strawberry boba tea and it was good.
