I had the Akamai bowl, which was a very interesting take on Poke. The fish itself was fine, but in my opinion the toppings were not complimentary at all. The combination of raw white onion + raw green onion + daikon radish was incredibly bitter... it could use different flavors (like a rich sauce) for balance. It comes with a miso soup that was very salty and had nothing inside (no tofu, seaweed, anything). Staff was nice! read more

From the outside the place looks promising but it's another story from the inside. I eat a lot of sushi/poke and I always like to see the ingredients that are being put into my food. At this place you can't really do that. Put a glass partition so people can see all the options you offer instead having to read it from the menu. The girl serving me as enthusiastic about her job as a forced prison labor. I asked for some seaweed salad on my order and she looked at me like I asked her for some impossible order. The last part is their general area inside. When I was there there were boxes laying around and it had the feel of a pick-up only place. All their drinks are in glass bottles as far as I could see and they didn't have any water glasses available. Not that I dared ask the cashier after the seaweed incident. read more

Last night attended opening event for this new Downtown location of owner Andrew's unique take on Hawaiian poke. We were greeted with a complimentary ancient Hawaiian pineapple infused cocktail. Guest were allowed to select a bowl of their choice. Given my Yelp Elite status the owner did a custom variation of Hybrid OG adding an extra protein of shrimp and a generous avocado dollup. To my delight the texture of the brown rice was perfect with just the right warmth. While I maintain that poke spots prepare similarly, in my purview only a few source transparently OG = Ocean Grown and create flavorful bowl options. The special spicy edamame dumplings were delish and different. Complimentary Soto Sake was available and I enjoyed it so much had two while swaying to the hip hop OG = original gangster beats by DJ YNOT who spins at many spots in Wynwood. Giving a 5-star rating because it offers vegan and gluten free options, sustainable utensils and real bowls, appropriate/light alcohol and other beverages, pleasant staff, indoor and outdoor seating, and has a cool vibe. After calling Poke OG to let them know what happened, the owner Andrew looked into the issue immediately, made a new Omakase Lite that we were missing, and shipped it in an Uber so we can receive it as fast as possible. Would lean towards 2.5 ish if I could. It was just ok. I did the rainbow og, the bit of spice in it was nice. But the quality of ingredients wasn't great. The salmon didn't have the best texture/seem fresh/and was more towards a room temp. The rice was heavy - proportionality wise - and on the mushier side. For the quality and price you can probably find a better quality/more satisfying meal elsewhere. read more

Always the best Poke Bowls you can find! The Salmon OG is my favorite, they make an amazing Avocado mix , I add spicy mayo and truffle oil. Now they have this new Sushi Bento Box, they are only $38 each and it comes with a ton of Sushi. This is the best place to get you Poke Bowl take out at a time like this. read more
