A small poke place in Berkeley. The place is small that I think they only have around 4 tables for two people each, so definitely a to-go place. It's new and clean though. Food tastes fine, but the raw fish (both tuna and salmon) was very finely chopped, which I did not like. Their spicy tuna tasted a bit different from ones that I've tried other places. They are more blend... not much flavor. I also got one tuna taco to try, and it was salty. One sheet of corn tortilla could not handle all the sauce put into the poke mixture. TLDR: meh poke but better than poke bar I like this place better than its competitor, Poke Bar. I think that the first few times I tried poke from this restaurant, the fish quality was very fresh. However, the most recent time I went, the fish had this sort of weird texture that the employees tried to cover up with loads of sauce. I do like the variety of toppings Parlor offers with no extra charge but if you're looking for really good poke then go somewhere else. Poke Parlor definitely does not compare to places I've tried in LA and SF but its mediocre quality at a decent price. Something else I'd like to mention is that they've recently gone on Snackpass which is an app that allows you to order ahead and walk to the restaurant to pick up. I've done this multiple times because I'm always in a rush to go from class to work but they get so busy during lunch time that I'm always waiting there for 20 minutes even after they say to pick up my order. It really reduces the efficiency of the app because they only have 2 people work at a time and they're just unable to fulfill so many orders at once. read more

This is my usual go to Poke spot in Berkeley! Most of the time I order through yelp's takeout option. Their sizes are pretty decent, definitely can fill you up. They're pretty generous with how much they give. Always tastes fresh and never fails to fulfill my poke cravings! I like how there is mango and pineapple with no charge, but don't like how it's a dollar extra for seaweed :( I usually make my own bowl with just salmon as my protein and the citrus ponzu sauce. I was getting jaded with the whole poke bowl scene because all poke restaurants seemed the same. This was different in a refreshing way! Located at the heart of UC Berkeley, I almost turned back because I thought I would not find parking. But I'm glad I persisted. They have some really healthy options like zucchini noodles (as a base), kimchi, shredded red cabbage, grated carrots, fresh pineapples, and furikake. I love how they tweaked the poke-concept to suit the health conscious mindset of UC-Berkeley. This is the place where all the other poke places should come to find inspiration/training! I have eaten at Poke Parlor a few times before (pre-pandemic) and always enjoyed the food. I ordered a medium poke bowl today and my experience was very disappointing. I ordered through Grubhub today and I am wondering if that might be the reason for the lackluster meal. The sushi rice was barely edible and I threw away most of it since it was stuck together in large gummy clumps and a couple of the clumps tasted like the rice had gone bad. The sauce was minimal and I was glad that I had also picked up a couple of pouches of soy sauce so as to not have to eat everything dry. The fish also did not taste as fresh as earlier. Grubhub also lets you order only one item per category, so I could only choose one topping. I was looking forward to the meal based on their consistently good food earlier, but I will probably not try this place again. read more

I love Poke Parlour! The portions are generous, and shoyu + unagi sauce combo is my favorite. They are always generous with adding more of the toppings on request (like more corn!) and the crab salad doesn't cost extra. Ah--mazing!!!! I accidentally discovered this place while walking my dog. You order like you are going through a cafeteria line. Get the small size to begin with, as you may not think it is filling but it is very filling. Three kinds of meat. All the vegetables you can handle. I chose a base of brown rice and zucchini noodles. They mixup a delicious sauce with it all. I added for an additional dollar the seaweed salad on top. Then they sprinkle it with sesame seeds and dried seaweed. For two of us it was around $25. A little pricey, but very fresh and it's seafood so I feel good about spending it. I will definitely be back! read more

Pre-COVID: Poke Parlor is my favourite spot around UC Berkeley to get a poke bowl. You pick your base (sushi rice, brown rice, zoodles, mixed greens), protein (tuna, salmon, crab), toppings (so many to choose from!). My go-to is their Tuna-verse, which is a special on Thursdays. I just wish they had their own marinated tuna, like shoyu ahi, instead of just mixing in sauces at the end. read more

It pains me to give this place 3 stars. By most accounts, it's pretty good. The fish was fresh in my experience, price is actually fair relative to other poke places, and I really like the mango and pineapple options (with no extra charge). The interior is chic and I always appreciate alliterative names (a managable level of citchy). I've got two main gripes here: 1. $1 extra for seaweed salad!? I'd understand if prices were a little lower and it was more a la carte, but nope :( It actually hurt me inside 2. The texture and temp of the rice!? My rice was way too warm and mushy, taking what should had been a beautiful, fresh poke bowl and making it into a mushy almost porridge-like mix (an exaggeration but you get the point). It wasnt bad, but in Berkeley I can definitely have better. As a transplant here in the East Bay, it's exciting to see that Berkeley's catching up with the huge poke trend that took over my hometown in SoCal over the past few years. Poke Parlor has a wide variety of fish and plenty of different sauces for you to mix and match the flavors and choices to cater your poke bowl to your own liking--entirely customizable! The system is pretty simple--you go in, you step up to the assembly line, and you order away. This fact makes the whole process super quick and efficient. Even on a busy day like today (their grand opening!), they were able to get people in and out of the store pretty fast and I was on my way to enjoying a tasty bowl of poke. If you're looking for fresh fish, this is the place to go. The chunks of salmon and tuna were cut just the right size that they were still bite sized, but they weren't too small that you could barely taste it behind everything else in the bowl. But I think the thing that set this place apart the most was the sauces that they have! In addition to having a huge number of protein and base choices, they also have an impressive number of sauces and toppings that go along with your bowl.The flavors are just strong enough to be amazingly tasty, but weren't too strong to overpower the flavor of the fish. The owner was super friendly and described their entire concept to me. Very very friendly. I was so shocked with the hospitality here, haha. But anyway! YEAH! MEXICAN TWIST TO IT!! They have Poke tacos and Pokeninis (I thought this name was clever) here!!! All other "sushi tacos" and "sushi burritos" are just like.. sushi rolls shaped differently. But this place actually uses tortillas with fresh fish!! Add some masago and some seaweed salad and some furikake and habanero aioli sauce and holy mackerel.. EXPLOSION OF DELICIOUSNESS IN YOUR MOUTH. I was so shocked with the fact that no one else had thought of this before..! It's a next level fish taco, and I would 10/10 recommend. Uggggh. I'm craving it right now so badly. I haven't gotten the chance to try the Pokenini yet, but I will definitely be back soon! Also, the ambiance was pretty hip. This is my favorite poke restaurant in all of Berkeley. They have the best selection! The fish is always fresh and the quality is unbeatable. I personally love the tako octopus with the Scottish salmon. The toppings and vegetables are unlimited, therefore, the possibilities are ENDLESS! One of my favorite poke bowl places at Berkeley. What I really like about it: fresh fish, LARGE PORTION, lots of options! I like building my own poke bowl and I am happy to see them offering zucchini noodles as one of the base options. During my visit, I ordered half half with salad & zucchini noodles. As for fish, for a regular size poke bowl (pretty large I think), you can pick 3 proteins and I picked: spicy tuna (amazing), seared albacore (always love seared fish) and salmon. All of them taste really fresh. As for the toppings, I ordered every topping except for pineapple and mango because I don't really like pairing tropical fruits with salty/umami poke bowl.
