I really wanted to like this place as years ago when they opened, I had a good experience. Fast forward to today and the value just isn't there. In today's economy, where everyone is feeling the pinch, it feels insulting to be charged $16 for a bowl that is 90% rice. It is also fundamentally unethical to market a "poke bowl" that only contains four TINY pieces of tuna and one shrimp-- ​To make matters worse, the rice itself didn't even taste fresh. It was hard and dry and it clearly was NOT fresh I reached out to the business directly to voice these concerns, but they were completely dismissive and didnt bother to respond. It's a shame to see a business be this stingy with their portions while showing zero accountability to their customers. The bad: The purple rice I got didn't seemed to be cooked properly. The consistency between bites either felt sometimes a little underdone to perfectly cooked. Im guessing I just got a bad batch. The good: Poke tasted nice and fresh. The spicy tuna was marinated, cubed up tuna as opposed to what many poke places do: give you more of a mashed up tuna that likely comes from a can. Here for SHRM24 and chanced upon this poke spot directly located near the Palmer House hotel where the shuttle bus dropped me off yesterday. Of course, in planning ahead for my late night return from the game, I picked up a poke bowl to store cold in the mini fridge. This location was convenient and the service I received from the staff was great. The guy who prepared my bowl took his time to explain how many proteins, toppings and sauces I'm allowed. The ingredients in the cold box looked fresh, and more importantly, tasted fresh. I got a mix of the vermicelli noodles and spring mix as the base, a combination of spicy tuna, salmon and shrimp for protein. Toppings and sauces are standard of other poke spots so it was delicious. I remember the first time I visited a Jersey Mike's... I was very impressed by the efficiency with which sandwiches were made! While Poke Poké doesn't make two bowls of ramen at the same time, I was still blown away by how fast the line is kept moving. Plus, the cashier was able to run two registers at the same time! Where it comes to the food, I ordered a Tsukiji. This one was fantastic, and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would from the menu. The rice was cooked perfectly, a medium heat gave a little kick, but not too much, and the sauces up top were done just right. The fish was high quality, and in perfect amounts. The other ingredients worked wonderfully to convey various flavors and textures. A beautiful fireworks display that a good bowl of Poké should be. The menu included poke bowls, ramen and appetizers. When we entered we were immediately greeted at the counter and placed an order. We ordered the miso ramen, build your own poke bowl, and gyoza for our group. We chose tuna and spicy tuna for the five protein choices, along with kimchi, cucumber, edamame, cilantro, and other toppings. The poke bowl was ready immediately, but we only had to wait 5-7 minutes for the ramen and gyoza. The restaurant is small but has three levels with small seating areas. We chose the top floor! The food was delicious! The poke bowl tuna was fresh and very filling. The kids loved the gyoza and split the ramen bowl. The ramen bowl broth was well flavored and deep, ramen was still chewy and fresh, and the pork and eggs complimented the meal. I've been here twice in two weeks! I'm sure it'll be in my rotation. I get a regular bowl (they are pretty big) with spicy tuna and white rice. You can get unlimited toppings. I get edamame, roe, scallion, tempura crispy, pineapple. And then you can add sauces, which I always add the traditional poke sauce. The fish and all the ingredients are really high quality. It's a fairly small spot with some tables inside and some additional seating outside. The staff is super nice, and they work really fast cranking out bowls super fast. This iteration of build-your-own-poke actually has some unique combinations - and they use purple rice, which I love (and fern root noodles, which I look forward to trying) - but you do have to be careful of oversweetening your bowl with fruit and sauce. Know that what looks like fruit may actually be a fruit-based sauce (yuzu beets, thai mango) and will saturate your bowl instead of being a refreshing addendum to it. That aside, I was happy here with my Kuromon Bowl. Their 'mild' sauce actually had a kick - unusually for a poke bar. They're heavy on the veggies AND fish, which make it feel more like a healthy salad lunch than a carb bomb rice lunch. They also let me sub the shrimp in the bowl for more salmon. read more

Most of the staff is Hispanic and as a Hispanic myself I celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve so having the employer make the decision to be open all day and not be considerate of his employees makes me enraged as the employees will not be able to spend the holiday with their loved ones but instead working on a day that I'm sure isn't even worth being open.
