What an unexpected bright spot in my day! I stopped by Pokemoto and ordered the Signature Hawaiian bowl along with mac salad, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. As someone who spent two months in Hawaii, I have a soft spot for Hawaiian-inspired food, and this meal definitely brought back some great memories. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. I brought my laptop and spent some time working while I ate, and the vibe was perfect--comfortable, clean, and inviting. The owner was especially kind and made everyone feel welcome. You can tell there's genuine care behind both the food and the customer experience. One of my favorite surprises was the complimentary Dole Whip-style frozen pineapple dessert. I wasn't expecting it, and it instantly transported me back to the Dole Plantation in Hawaii. It was the perfect sweet finish to a delicious meal. The decor was cheerful, the staff was friendly, and the food was fresh, light, and full of flavor. I also appreciate that there are plenty of options for those looking for gluten-friendly choices. Made an office order for take-out. One of the orders had more than half the ingredients left out, called to get this corrected, told that manager would call back. 90 minutes later I called again and again was told that nothing can be rectified without the manager, and he is busy. I asked when would that be, told perhaps tomorrow. I want my dinner now, not tomorrow. The food may be good, but I would not know because what they brought me was basically a bowl of rice. I do know that their customer service is a zero. Too bad, its the first time my office ordered from them, we could have given them lots of business, but because of their very poor handling of customer service, we will never order from them again. read more

I have always been big on sushi/sashimi and was really craving salmon when I came upon Pokemoto. I have been to similar establishments in the city and decided to try it out. When I first arrived, I was taking a look at the menu on the wall to get familiar with it. I had questions for the woman working behind the counter and she seemed confused when I tried explaining. Once that was resolved, they were able to create my bowl hassle free. I did order the Hawaii bowl, which was delicious. Note- they do add a ton of rice. I'm such a newbie when it comes to Poke. All I know is- that it's Hawaiian-based, bite-sized cubed seafood and that veggies are involved. Since I'm a Pescatarian, this was right up my alley. Pokemoto on Main St in Downtown White Plains takes inspiration from Hawaii+beach with turquoisey walls and surf boards as props to create their point of interest. With a fast-casual setup offering several different sauces, toppings and bases, Pokemoto offers nearly limitless combinations. With a menu like this one, I'd never get bored. Since I was nearing my time slot to pick up my car from Safelite, my bowl was great on the go. I decided on the 'Hawaiian' bowl as my choice- but I ditched a few things starting with the spicy mayo for the ponzu sauce instead, got rid of the rice as my base and went with the mixed greens to keep it Pescatarian-Keto(ish). The diced mango looked great, so did other add-ons not included in my bowl and preparation was great. My biggest issue was when I was about 4 people deep and only 1 prep person ALSO tending to calls. To add, after 15 minutes, 2 more employees appeared out of nowhere and began helping some of us in line ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. This place was highly recommended and they were so right about the food, service and quality! Our party of four stopped by for dinner before heading back home in NYC. We all had the same - miso salmon poke bowl. HOWEVER we each made it different by piling on some extra toppings. The best thing was that they were FREE!!! I love that word and what it represents! You can have the servers add almost anything else in the bowls as long as they are considered free. Only items not included are avocados and fish roe. I asked for all types of crunchy toppings and it made the bowl experience even yummier. Jeremiah was so nice that he treated everyone to a free bowl of miso soup! Even though it's discouraging to see eateries and other businesses close down in White Plains, it's just as encouraging to see development in the city at the same rate. Pokemoto is one of the newest businesses to open in the downtown area - I had been eyeing it for a while and they finally opened for business yesterday. Since I was in the area looking for lunch, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to check them out. Pokemoto sits on Main Street in downtown White Plains; its setup mirrors many of the other fast casual spots in the area: a seating area upon entry, and a large production counter which serves as a focal point. The decor was just enough, with splashes of nautical colors, a surfboard or two, and some neon which is currently the trend in many business' decor. As the name suggests, the star of the menu is poke - they have a number of flavor combinations you can choose from, and there's also the option of choosing your own components. Think Chipotle or other fast casual food spots - you pick your base, decide if you want a bowl, wrap, or salad, and then choose whatever you like to add. I wasn't in an adventurous mood, so I stuck with one of their signature combos - specifically the chicken teriyaki bowl. In addition to the chicken, the bowl came with a base of rice (I chose white), onions, carrots, avocado, cashews, and tempura flakes tossed in a sweet dressing. I enjoyed the bowl - there was a lot of rice (if you're carb conscious I would choose a different base), but it didn't overpower any of the other components. All the flavors worked well together, it was a solid bowl. I also picked up some of their miso soup which was tasty as well. Service was good; everyone I encountered was super friendly, and overall I enjoyed my first experience at Pokemoto. Competition is tough in this area of White Plains, but there is also a lot of weekday traffic in the downtown area - so hopefully they can gain some footing in the lunchtime landscape. I would definitely return to try more of their menu. read more

I've been here a few times and expect the portion sizes to improve. I'm wrong every time. I got a LARGE bowl with 3 proteins. It was $21 and the portion sizes are fit for a child, if that. For $20 I expect a decent amount of fish, but the ratio of rice to everything else is wayyy off. The service is not great either but if the portions were okay it would offset it. I'm surprised more people don't know about this place. The poke is extremely fresh, there are a variety of choices and toppings to make your bowl and it's pretty affordable considering the quality. (They are also generous with the servings) I got a large bowl with lobster salad, tuna and shrimp. They also have a variety of sauces to spice up your bowl per your preference. They also have "Hawaiian Sun" a drink straight from Hawaii itself. It comes in a variety of tropical flavors from which you can choose. It's pretty much a grab and go spot. Seating is there but nothing too formal and for no more than maybe 15-25 people. It was great and a pleasant surprise. I'd definitely come back and I highly recommend. read more

been coming here for a while and the past 5 times i have went the service provided from the workers are just significantly going down. There is terrible attitude and no empathy whatsoever. Even the person who seemed to be in charge was so nasty. I will never understand how when you choose to work with people and provide a service you dont take into account that u treat people poorly. Food it not great anyways it was just an easy food but now its so inconvenient. its actually terrible. i don't have names but i know the faces and its the same people providing bad service. they give me a hard time and do not listen when there is a problem treating me as though they can never be wrong. I was not lying but was being treated as though i was. Showed proof and still was treated poorly. i will never be going here again. Absolutely terrible. They have so many options for their bowls, but my eyes went straight to the Hawaiian signature bowl which consisted of ahi tuna, spicy mayo, sushi rice, nori, green onion, crispy onions, and a little bit of cilantro. Deliciously tasty combo! Everything was extremely fresh and the proportions were on point. The service was quick and efficient as well. They have a bunch of tables in the back if you wish to enjoy your food there or you can just order in the front and leave for a quick to-go order. I got a large, which is $18, and the bowl was 90% rice. I took out half the rice and my bowl was still dry due to the rice ratio. Not worth anything close to $18. I really enjoyed the food! It was so fresh and I love that you can customize the bowl however you'd like. I especially like that the worker asked how much sauce I wanted on my fish as I am very particular. I did however feel bad for the worker!
